Has a major section with terrible drainage issues and a terrible transition to the road, otherwise reasonably dry. Nice views of wetland area. Some spots where the trail meets the road are washed out and uneven and/or steep. Most of the trail is relatively flat and fine for riding, running, walking, horseback riding.
Miles of trails from Naugatuck to Southbury, the LSBT is a great place for hiking, biking or geocaching as well!Trails tend to get wet and muddy or even icy at times depending on the time of year so be aware of that and plan accordingly..you may come upon the occasional equestrian and/or road apples too so be alert!
It’s a nice trail for walking or biking and it is well-maintained. Perfectly accessible and not too big of a crowd.
This is a fun trail I bike on. I think its like a total of 10 miles one way. You have to ride it on a dry spell in the summer otherwise theres a huge mud hole about a quarter of the way in and theres no easy way around it. I really hope they fix this section. Although I havent been back here in a while the last time I was here it looked like they were working on a section of it so Im due to go back. Great views, not easy to cross most streets, you have to climb rocky hills to get back onto the trail. But its not too bad. The end gets pretty gnarly and just ends on a busy street.
This is a dirt (unpaved) rail trail. Very scenic and is good to bike & hike on.
Lots of nice people. Pretty area.
This is an old railroad bed turned into a walking path so it is flatland. Good path for nature walkers, fast pace walkers and joggers. After recent rains on 3/7/20 it was really watery in some spots so we had to circumventWe started at 816 church st(rte 63)in naugatuck ct
Beautiful trail. Very wide and good for jogging, cycling, walking, etc.
This is a great trail with a wide variety of terrain from easy to challenging. Its about 21 miles long round trip and Im pretty sure it will have even some of the most advanced mountain bikers off their saddle at times. I wouldnt recommend doing this trail without a mountain bike. I would say this trail is 80% beginner accessible if youre willing to walk some of the sections. Enjoy!
Easy terrain and wide with trees.
Love walking here it’s super peaceful and clean. I feel safe there and people are friendly. Parking is good at the Middlebury/Naugatuck line too!
I love it a lot best trail
Moderately traveled. Gets super buggy because of the tree canopy, but I did see an owl!
Too many bikes and they ride to fast by walkers.
Everytime I walk this trail I get 900 ticks on my head
I love these trails. For safety reasons you really need to be mindful of landmarks and which section you are in for example; one section is at the start of route 63 and goes to alterton farms road. Kust so youre able to tell someone where you are if something should happen. Also, Ive been using this bridle trail for year and maybe saw horse poop twice. It is a bridle trail and people should remember that.
Its not that I didnt like it. I heard its beautiful but with the first 1/2 mile from parking lot I found 3 ticks on me. Truly wish there was away to control this
Its nice, its a well kept trail and on the easier side. It has a lot of shade so its good on the hot days.
Great for dog walking, strolling and biking. The trail is well shaded in warm months. For hikers there are many better choices nearby, but you cant beat it for taking your dog for a long walk without dealing with cars.Just be aware that there are plenty of bike riders. If you walk your dog on a long leash youll need to real it in when bikers approach. Also, it is a bridle trail - - people riding horses have the right of way. Finally, dont bring a dog that doesnt deal well with lots of people, other dogs and those horses. This can be very busy on weekends in nice weather.
Great trail, perfect for walking dog or just taking a long walk
Close to downtown Naugatuck, great to go for a walk or a bike ride.
Great trail. Parking not so great
Best place for a long run in CT
It was nice. Met other walkers along with there pets
Nice clean trail.
Lovely trail to enjoy in all 4 seasons. 10 miles end to end, but walking, running, biking or horseback riding whatever distance you prefer is easy to do.
Another quiet spacious hiking state park
Very Beautiful!
Beautiful peaceful trails in lush Forrest with the trees reaching over head to look like a canopy.
Enjoyed a peaceful hike on the side trails
Lovely trail. Thebkids loved to walk and see the horses.
Fun biking, not for road bikes as there are wet sections and parts with larger gravel fill
Great trail for running or biking. The last few miles are a little rough for running, but it makes the biking more interesting.
Love this trail.
Great Trail, some areas will be very wet in the spring. Also watch out for the bears...they will sneak up on you
The trail here is pretty easy, the trail is gravel but level. Dog friendly! The trail crosses a few streets.
Nice rail trail with a couple of single track drop-ins
Ideal for hiking... perfect landscape.
Watch out for ATVs
