It wasnt as big as I thought. The upper level is an Airbnb and was occupied. I was surprised to learn they lived there for only a year.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Fitzgerald Museum and House. Miss Powell (The Museum and Houses Executive Director) greeted every guest and chatted with them about the house and Fitzgeralds as well, despite being busy with preparations for Zelda Fitzgerald Day (25 July 2017). For its age the house is in rather good condition, any repairs have kept in line with the time period of the house. The museum holds many family photos, letters, news clippings and personal works of art by Zelda along with telling the story of Scott and Zelda. It was a very well laid out and informative look into the Fitzgeralds personal lives. The museum runs on donations, they do accept debit and credit cards as ways to give donations. If you find yourself in Montgomery with time to spare, the Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum and House is well worth the time.Admission is free but the museum runs on donations. They accept debit and credit cards along with cash.

Wonderful museum and lovely staff. Incredibly interesting history and galleries in the home. Well worth a visit. The Airbnbs they have upstairs were also very welcoming and definetly worth booking if youre looking for somewhere to stay. All in all a great experience whether you have any interest in the Fitzgeralds or not.

I suspect this is more of an Airbnb as opposed to a museum--and it looks like it would be cool to stay here. I was trying to visit the museum, I knew it closed at 3, I showed up at 2:30 and found a note on the door saying you have to call a phone number if you want to visit. I called the number but no one answered. There were people inside, I could tell, but they didnt answer the phone or my knocks. I fiddled around for a bit, put some books in the nearby little free library and plotted the next steps in my afternoon when an employee came out at about 2:50. I asked her if the museum was open, she said they really stopped admitting folks at 2:30 and I said I called but no one picked up and she told me to stick around for the manager to come out and I should tell her. I waited for another 10 minutes but got tired of waiting and left.Overall, my impression is that this is mainly an Airbnb with a small museum downstairs you might be able to see for $10. I could be wrong, but I was definitely put off by the experience.

Kind of quirky - honestly kind of rundown - needs some attention. I enjoyed the visit and glad we went. The museum is now offering Airbnb lodging on the second floor. We did not have a chance to see the rooms. Overall, I say this place is a “must see” for hardcore fans. For the regular Joe like me it was still cool but could use some work.

My family did the airbnb part of this museum (the Zelda suite). It was a great experience. Very roomy rooms and beds for the price. The house is of course very old and as such didnt have the most modern furnishings. But thats what made the stay very unique for us. Much more memorable than a stay at a local Marriott would have been!

Excellent museum. Small but packed with interesting objects, some originals, some replicas or prints, and some representative period objects. Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Some of the original wallpaper is still visible. Parking is available on site.If you get the chance spend the night in the Airbnb! Its located above the museum. After the Fitzgeralds moved the house was divided into 4 apartments. The two upstairs apartments can be rented on Airbnb! Its called the Fitz. We loved our stay in the Scott Suite. It was so well decorated and atmospheric. Unfortunately as far as I could see the apartments are not wheelchair accessible.

We found the museum very interesting! The tour guide answered all our questions and was very cordial. We stayed in the Zelda apartment upstairs for two nights. We enjoyed the charm of the period decor and furnishings. Although dated, the apartment was very comfortable. The step back in time was like visiting the Fitzgeralds as a guest.

Gorgeous 1910 home in a stunning, historic Montgomery neighborhood. The displays and artifacts are personal, delightful, and insightful. Zelda Sayre was a tragically untapped mind and a fascinating figure. I highly recommend a visit and i cant wait till they begin listing the upstairs apartment on airbnb. Ill certainly be back!Update October 2017: I just visited the memorial to Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald at the location of the former Highland Sanitarium (75 Zillicoa St. Asheville, NC) where she perished in a tragic fire the night before she was to return to her mothers home in Montgomery. I found the gorgeous Montford neighborhood and memorial to be an excellent extension to the Montgomery house and museum. You may consider it in your travels! (See photos attached)

This museum is such a special place! Having grown up in Alabama, I wasnt aware that this museum was in my own backyard, but now having been there, I will definitely be back. The museum is filled with so many wonderful pieces from the Fitzgeralds lives and truly stands as a testament to the cultural and historical significance they had.Everyone that works their is incredibly knowledgeable about the many different facets of the museum and the treasures stored their. They really care about the museum and its mission. I cant wait to go back!If you love Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald or if this is your first time really learning about them then you will love this museum! Its a must see for everyone!

As a family who loves to visit museums when we travel, we were extremely disappointed at this “establishment.” It is very, very unprofessional. First off, the landscaping outside looked like no one had touched it in over a year. Good luck trying to find the sidewalk. When we walked in the doors, we couldn’t find any staff. Instead, we had to ring a bell because the staff was hiding in the back playing on their phones. The lady was very rude. She told us it was $10 each (there was 4 of us). She said to just put the money in the “box.” So we put our $40 in it. The lady didn’t even check to see if we were honest about how much money we put in. After we paid, the lady went back into the back to chill on her phone. Keep in mind that we called before we came to ask about tours. So we were very confused as to why we were left alone. We went to find her and told her that we were told there were tours available by the lady on the phone. The woman said that we talked to her (so here she admits to lying). She said that they have been moving because of water damage (so if this is true, they should have closed the museum for this day). She asked if we wanted to speak to the director. We said yes. So this lady comes at us stomping around with a huge attitude. She said “HOW CAN I HELP YOU.” We explained the situation (expecting to be offered to receive our money back, but that wasn’t the case). She offered to give us (and I quote) “a quick tour.” Boy, she was not kidding because it took less than 5 mins. And she didn’t even take us through all the opened rooms. She was sarcastic the whole time and then left. Shortly after, we left too to write this review. IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO LEARN ABOUT FITZGERALD AND HIS WIFE, DO NOT GO HERE! YOU WILL LEARN MORE FROM A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH THAN BY VISITING THIS MUSEUM. INSTEAD TAKE YOUR MONEY TO NANCY’S ITALIAN ICE! It is in Montgomery, AL and it was definitely money well spent! Thank you and have a bless day!

According to the docent this is the only museum dedicated to Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald in the world. The couple lived here in the early 1930s and the museum houses a lot of their personal belongings. Not a huge collection, but very well done. This was a lot of fun to visit. The house itself is in a very quaint neighborhood. Fans can also stay in the house overnight.

Such an amazing place to visit! As a book enthusiast and lover of historical sites, this specific museum was so unique and a great place to visit. It is free to visit, but encouraged to make a donation to help preserve the museum. While it is encouraged, they are not pushy or rude about the amount you decide to donate. I really appreciated this because this allows families of all different sorts of income be able to enjoy this museum. While this is both Zelda and Scott Fitzgeralds house I did feel like it was more informational and to the benefit of Zelda. This of course did not ruin or distract from the wonderful contributions to literacy or arts they both were a part of. It was super fascinating and I highly recommend visiting. This place also has a bed and breakfast that you can actually stay in, which I unfortunately could not do; however, the fact that this is even an option is wonderful and something I would encourage others to try and do.

A quiet museum perfect for imagining life with the Fitzgeralds by observing their personal objects. photographs, and memories. Fun events are often hosted as well, to truly grasp the feeling of the roaring twenties. The Museum is run solely on donations from dedicated supporters, so when they have their free days, its nice to give a donation.

My family stopped by here on our way back to Louisiana after a trip to Savannah. I wish we had had more time to really explore this house. They have so much to see and read an explore. Its a very complete an expansive collection of both of their literary works and art. It does cost to get in which is a little steep. They call it a tax deductible donation and I even had to pay for both of my children who are under the age of 4 and cant read lol. Still it is a very cool place to visit especially if you are into Zelda and Scott. Its really interesting to see Zeldas paintings and see their personal items and learn about different aspects of their lives. Montgomery Alabama is just a cool town to visit they have a lot to offer in a lot to do and see. This place also has an Air BnB. I dont think I could stay in this house long term because the smell of the old books and clothes is really overwhelming. Im surprised that they dont have these items kept in a humidity controlled environment. The woman that we met who was working there was very sweet to both of our children.

Yes, this museum was a home to the Fitzgerald family for a short time (approximately 3 months). However, Zelda was a Montgomery belle and Montgomery holds a lot of history for the family. The house has many of the Fitzgerald’s artifacts and we enjoyed our self-guided tour.We hope their preservation efforts continue to be successful and that the home can be restored, and the exhibits enhanced one day soon.

So Scott and Zelda only lived here for a month... had I known that I wouldnt have even come out to this museum. Alas, when we arrived there was a sign on the door stating that the museum would be closed for an hour (the place was only open for 4 hours...) and even after that hour was up no one opened the door for us. We saw the crappy garden out back, the placard was rather funny as Zeldas quote implied that she didnt like Alabama but was content until she was able to move somewhere more interesting.

We went in without high expectations, and they were not even met. While there was a lot of great personal items and memorabilia from the family and the home was on a beautiful property, there was not much past that. The tour guide did not/could not explain in further detail some things in the home, nor more basic things about the Fitzgeralds lives (i.e. when they died, how they died, what Zelda was dignosed in the institution, etc.), she admitted she had not read any of their books, and apologized for not knowing the information as she had started three weeks before. We felt that three weeks was plenty of time to learn some of this information, or at least read one of their books, and felt like we wasted $10 on something with so much potential. She also took her lunch break when we were in the house. Very sweet, but not very professional at all. Very disappointed.

The Fitzgeralds home was absolutely beautiful! Im happy to know I have so much in common with Zelda, considering the fact that were both writers, artists and graduates of Sidney Lanier. I love the fact that the museum has the actual clothes, books and paintings on display, not to mention there is a BNB upstairs and a writers corner, where writers can come stay to work on their books, etc.

The museum is inside a house which both Scott and Zelda lived in for a year. The guide was very helpful and willing to answer any questions we had about the Fitzgeralds. Particularly interesting is the collection of Zeldas paitings housed in the museum. The museum itself is in the Cloverdale neighborhood of Montgomery, definitely worth a walk around-- the nearby Methodist church has a gorgeous facade.Dont be mislead by the hours posted on the door to the museum. This little treasure is tucked away in a seemingly random corner of a Montgomery neighborhood near ASU, but you should take the time to find it and visit. I never knew a ton about Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, but it seems like their lives were remarkably similar to the characters in The Great Gatsby. They only lived in this house for a few months, but the museum provides a wealth of information and artifacts about their lives.
