Nice hiking and great views! The hikes could be a little challenging at some parts but not too tough. Families with young kids and elderly parents were able to do it. Great escape into nature and not too crowded for a Saturday! Public restrooms and the gardens were not accessible.

Norman Bird Sanctuary always puts a great harvest festival together. This year there was no issues with weather so we didnt have to be bussed from Third Beach. It seemed like the overall atmosphere was focused on fun today. We laughed a lot with friends today. Saw the mud battle today- that was funny (and cold for the participants). Our daughter and her friend both survived the high wire attraction. Thought neither would do it as our daughter couldnt get past the height, but both prevailed with smiles to boot. The bands playing were very good and the food was too. A light of vendors today inside the tent and activities too. Watching everyone get on the stilts was funny. I tried them but couldnt manage 5 feet. The kids participated in the potato sack race and tug of war.

This is a great place to go hiking. What a view in some spots! I have been here only a couple of times but I would definitely recommend it. I will be back soon with my camera to get some bird shots. We saw a couple of ducks mating and an egret. Even though we didnt see many birds we werent really looking. We were more interested in getting some miles in and there are plenty of trails here to do that. The whole time you are there you can hear the birds singing. Its a mystical little spot with a lot of history. If youre looking to get away from it all this is the spot. They even have picnic tables so pack a lunch and spend the day.

This is a nonprofit bird sanctuary with many trails for hiking and exploring. There are very easy trails as well as more moderate ones, but nothing too crazy. The hanging rock trail is one of the more difficult ones but rewards you with breathtaking views of the ocean. Just be wary of the steep drops should you decide to take the little ones. There is a cool wooden forest patch at the beginning that has a trail carved out where you can go underneath into the shadows and marvel at the wooden caves built by scouts. And when the wind blows youll hear the clanging of all the branches its pretty cool. All in all a great time, family of 5 was $19.

I phoned the Norman Bird Sanctuary on April 9, 2019 as I had found aninjured Seagull that could not fly. It was alert in every way. I asked them to give me directions to their address as I wanted to bring the Seagull there. Oh no, we DONT TAKE INJURED BIRDS. Excuse Me? I thoughtthis was a sanctuary. That is not my idea of a sanctuary. Disgraceful.Thankfully I found the name of the REHABILATATORS BIRD SANCTUARY AT 2865 Tower Hill Road, S. Kingstown, R.I. They immediately took the Seagull and said it should be well in time. That is what you call a Sanctuary, NOT the above.

I really enjoy this place, Iv learned a lot about the bird and the eco system around me. Getting to go on a walk here is a treat for me. I can let lose and listen to the sounds for nature and the waves crashing on the nearby beach. I will alwase love this place.

Norman Bird Sanctuary - Hanging Rock - Hanging Rock is one of the most striking spots in the Sanctuary. Hike up to the summit and youll be rewarded with spectacular views of Second Beach and the crashing Atlantic . The view is expansive and breath-taking. Hanging Rock was a favorite spot back in the late 1800s when luminaries like William James and John La Farge discussed philosophy in the midst of the surrounding wonder.
