Biking this trail was probably my favorite part of our Everglades visit. It was really hot and the ranger stopped us to make sure we had at least a gallon of water per person and sunscreen (we needed both!). The trail is flat and easy to bike! Really cant emphasise enough that it is extremely hot though! So be prepared. The ice cream at the visitor center at the end was a welcome treat. We did see a young alligator on the trail, but it was far enough to the side that we could bike past without bothering it. I really recommend this trip!

Amazing place to visit, great for a family adventure. You can bike or walk the 15 mile round trip, or take the tram. Tram is a little pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. The tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. There are bathrooms at the tower and at the entrance as well. Guaranteed to see some alligators and turtles.

I absolutely love this place. You can bring your own bike - a must, or rent one but there can be a waitlist so don’t delay. There is an entrance fee to the park which for some can be pricey but it goes to preservation so I don’t mind. Best time to go is fall through spring when it isn’t so hot and more alligators are basking in the sun. Couple of short walking trails which are pleasant. Cool observation tower at the far end of the loop. They also have guided tours on a tram, but I’ve never done it.

Great place to see nature. We like to go on night bike rides on the summer, enjoy the night sky, thunder storms and the sounds of the florida Everglades at night.Park your vehicule outside the entrance make sure not to block gate.Even though park is closed at night you can still enter (at you own risk) and do the trail, 17 miles round trip, make sure to bring bug repellent, a good flashlight, water and some food.Pleaseeee be mindful of others and DO bring some kind of safety light on your bike.Cell service is scarce so keep that in mind, gators big and small could sit on either side, so be extra carefull, dont be surprised to run into snakes too.Owls, eagles, egrets and thousands of frogs can be found along the trail. At the end theres a tower you can climb and see a litle more and bathrooms as well.As end of July 2020 parks is closed due to covid19 for daylight tours, check web site.

The Shark Valley Visitor Center in the Everglades is so amazing and virtually teaming with wildlife everywhere you look and it is such an amazing experience!! We saw so many different bird species there that we’ve never seen before and there are alligators galore also! It was such a unique experience because you can basically take photos of all the wildlife and they just sit there and let you photograph them! There are several options for exploring the park along the 15 mile loop road, from walking, biking or taking a tram tour. If one is planning on a tram tour I would recommend buying the tickets in advance and I would probably go in the morning before the parking lot fills up, which happens quickly. We went one day and it was 4:00 when we got there and we were able to find parking and we went again the next morning at 9:00 and there were only a few people there, which was nice. The last tram tour leaves at 4:00 in the afternoon and the tour last around two hours, so plan accordingly. A lot of people rented bikes there, which would be a nice option also. We were fortunate that we got to get into the park for free due to the government shutdown, which was a bonus! It’s 25.00 for a vehicle to enter so it was quite a savings not to have to pay and the park was still very clean and the restrooms were open, along with the visitor center.Overall it was an incredible experience and one that should be added to people’s bucket list if it isn’t on there. Shark Valley receives my highest recommendation and I would encourage everyone to stop and enjoy the incredible beauty!!

If you wanna see alligators and wildlife in the everglades then make sure to visit Shark Valley. You wont find many sharks. What you will find is hundreds of gators. Get up close for fantastic photos. To your amazement with such closeness by the public no one is attacked. They lie in the sun motionless bathing in the warmth on the actual park road. Great place to cycle as there is a bike loop going from the parking lot to the observation tower and back to the parking lot. Gators are everywhere even on the foot trails so take care. They appear to be more afraid of you. A must see attraction. Bring a bike.

We have 3 kids (12, 10 and 6) and went in July during COVID times which means very hot and no rangers to guide. After an intense search, we just saw a couple of alligators in the water (it was very hot they did not have to leave to the ground to warm up). We rode the bicycles around the 15 mile circuit, which if you are not used to, it would be very demanding under the sun (we are frequent riders, so it was fine, but I can see a lot of people struggling here).I think the the following recommendation would improve your experience:1. Spend more time in the trails than in the road.2. Beyond the tower, the circuit doesnt seem to have any other highlight so as an alternative you can get in 3 miles and comeback and would have had a good taste of the scenery for less than half of the distance. Also, I actually believe that the straight path was more life-rich than the curved one which was longer.3. Bring lots of water and then some more. While there is a place to refill bottles with water in the tower, it did have a strong smell and did not look drinkable.4. Bring binoculars. They helped a lot when detailing the animals.5. Everglades is a swamp so there are not that many trees to escape from the sun. Sunglasses, long sleeves and hats will save your day.I guess that in winter, after COVID runs its course, reptiles are forced out of the waters and rangers have comeback the experience would improve significantly. I would give it another chance then as I really like the scenery. As for now Ill give it 3 stars as it doesnt have too much to offer beyond a 15 mile of well maintained road in the middle of the swampland.Good Luck!

I love this place. The 15 mile bike ride is a lot to handle in the sun, so go early or go late but never in the middle of the day. The earlier you go, the more chances to see gators. They should tell people at the park entry that everything is booked. We walked for some distance and saw couple of gators and various birds, turtles and fishes. Shark Valley is easily accessible from Miami, and makes for a great day trip. Whether its your first time in the Everglades or are a seasoned Everglades explorer, its a great use of time. We took the attached pics within an easy walk from the parking lot. There is a flat, paved 15 mile loop through the park. You can bike around the loop (rental bikes are available on-site), but be prepared for a long, hot ride. There are also tram tours. However, a relatively short walk along the right side of the loop, along the canal, will show you 90% of whats in this part of the Everglades. If this wets your appetite for more, make the longer drive to the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve, which is on the Tamiami Trail, closer to Naples. There is a visitor center and boardwalk on 41, but the back country hiking off 29, on Janes Scenic Drive, makes for an adventure.

Parking is limited so get there earlier in the day, or you can park on the main road and walk in. Dont walk the trail, rent a bike, you will see allot more if you ride on your own. Walking the trail there is hot and tiring with nowhere to stop and sit. The Bobcat Boardwalk is closed for repairs and the Otter Trail was just too far for us older folks to walk in the heat.Lots of Gators, a few birds and plenty of fish to see. Since the Everglades is ... a sea of grass. that is what you will see. No skeeters this day.

Buzarre how close you are to alligators but great place to visit. I believe its a 16 mile trail, done it 3 times, flat so easy. Lots of wildlife, amazing birds, turtles, one snake, baby alligators in January, lookout halfway which gives amazing views of Everglades. Workers are friendly and helpful and care about the park. Even cleaning up, unpaid, during this ridiculous government shutdown. Also, tram tours for those that dont want to ride bikes, or walk.

Great place to see the alligators up close and personal. Tram was fun and informative but biking looked like the way to go if your up for the 15 miles!

There’s a trail to the observation tower, you can go by bike or tram. During the summer, it’s better going by tram, because it’s a loop of 15 miles. During the wet season is hard to see alligators, they stay in the water.

Get there early if you want to bike. It gets very hot. You will also see more wildlife. We did the path opposite of most people and it worked out well. We had the place to ourselves. Nice facilities and staff.

We were only able to walk a short bit because it was raining, but in that short bit we saw birds galore.
