I cant express the feeling of love and light this service brought to me. Bishop Al Green is a powerful messenger. The band and choir make such heavenly noise. A lovely church, truly welcoming visitors from every walk of life.

This was really a very special experience! We were even so lucky, that the Bishop Al Green was conducting the service on that Sunday. The members of the church made us visitors really feel comfortable and at home. The choir is out of this world! Great voices... great music... and a wonderful church service! If you have a chance, go and visit the service on Sunday! And bring time to enjoy it fully.

Went on April 14 to hear Al Green preach and sing the Gospel. Not sure why this is not a must see when going to Memphis. Singer of his band members were there and his keyboard player eased on the church organ. Almost a concert Very close to Graceland. Everyone greeted me and was welcoming. If you look close in the one picture Al Green came out before the service. Hes sitting in the chair.I also smiled that there is a picture of a young Al Green at the front of the church.

I attended Bishop Al Green’s church on December 8, 2019, which was my Dad’s birthday. I always wanted to attend a Sunday service in which Bishop Al Green gave the sermon. I drove from Panama City, Florida to celebrate my father’s birthday of which his funeral service was December 5, 2019. I was made to feel more than welcome and I couldn’t think of a better place to be that Sunday. May God continue to watch over us all and keep us ever so close to him in this journey of life.

TURN OFF YOUR CELLPHONES when you’re in a church, people. They went off three times - and one clueless lady just let her tropical ringtone keep going... amplified with church acoustics. So disrespectful.The service we attended was very joyous in tone (no homophobic messages) and warm and welcoming to outside visitors. The band - with guitar, bass, drums, organ and piano - is amazing. One of the female solo singers was a great blues/soul singer. My husband and I are musicians and not particularly religious. Al Green was in really good spirits until the cell phones.But be prepared that 1) the service can take 2.5 hours and you can’t get up and leave, there’s no break (but we thought the time flew by.) 2) do NOT use flash photography and maybe just try to be in the moment and don’t photograph at all. 3) this is a Sunday sermon for the local parish where local events will be addressed - the focus is not to be a tourist attraction. 4) other pastors will be leading the service for the first half before Al Green begins to talk (and sing!)Show respect, set aside ample time, turn off your phones, and have a really cool and uplifting experience.

Very nice church with Sunday school study at 9:45 & full Sunday Service at 11:30. Bishop Al Green sung & preached with a full choir. Very nice congregation. We especially enjoyed the Sunday school teaching Plenty of room and many visitors. You will enjoy this nondenominational service.

Made our visit to Memphis! We enjoyed the singing and preaching but the sweet spirit of the church members was great!! Made us feel so welcome!

The Reverend Al Green gives a great sermon. The music is so uplifting. The whole congregation are so friendly and welcoming to the many visitors they get.

Amazing church! Al Green is anointed by the Lord and his preaching is so inspiring. The congregation is a mix of locals and tourists; its usually very diverse. They have a great choir as well as a rock solid band. Al Green is there to preach the Gospel and build up the Kingdom of God, not to greet every single tourist running up to talk to him. He connects with the crowd so well and shares great stories too. He combines soulful singing with a great Christian message. Check this place out if you want to learn more about Jesus while in Memphis! 5 stars

Great Church Service on Easter Sunday, Bishop Al Green welcomed us all and gave a great sermon.

The Rev Al Green is truly Gods Blessed One!!! He, The Church and Atmosphere radiated The Eternal Love of God! I was there Sat, July 7th, Sight Seeing then on Sun, July 8th, in The Church Service. Amazing & Rev Green himself - A Living & Beloved Legend! My heart ALWAYS flutters when I see or hear him sing!! IT STILL DOES!! Go and enjoy the presence of GOD and A Living Legend!!! Visited this Church while in Memphis, October 2017 and it is an uplifting experience. I said to my wife If Church was this good back home, Id go twice a week.

Thought this was Ushers church. Was severely disappointed. I could feel my heart break into two lonely pieces that can never find the other half ever again. But I love the Lord so its all good.

Love to see and visit again

The uplifting spirit and down home gospel makes you feel the presence of God. Loved the experience of praises in songs by the soulful choir as well.

Its all about serving GOD,not about what you re wearing,an the church members are so nice an Rev.Green can preach...so come on out an enjoy!!!!
