Grew up listening to my parents playing the blues. I was excited to visit the museum. They had some nice state-of-the-art listening equipment to listen the albums. Would love to see their exhibits grow more. Admission is $10 which isnt bad.

Truly a once in a lifetime experience. For Blues fans, this is the Mecca of journeys. The facility was immaculate, the displays were well done and the music was everything you could wish for. There are private listening booths where you can browse through an immense menu of artists and songs for your listening pleasure.

This is a quaint museum located on Main Street in downtown Memphis. Across the street from the Civil Rights Museum and walk-able to historic food and blues Beale Street, or adorable renewed street Trolley. The museum is newly renovated, affordable ticket price of $10 for an Adult , The visitor is treated to well curated costumes, instruments, memorabilia to the best of blues. But my highlight was the music digital library and private sound rooms for hours of listening and music history of all the Blues greats. Thank you to Jim the Tuesday volunteer for acclimating me to the museum self tour.

Hall of Fame had only been open for 5 months and initially we thought there was not much to see. How wrong we were! It is very much quality rather than quantity with a little help from technology .I,am not a computer expert however the instructions were so easy to follow meaning that you had so much to the hear, view and enjoy. This is a real bonus if your time is limited.A must place to go to if you are a music fan especially the Blues .The staff were great.Extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Also, good news if you only have a short stay, The National Civil Rights Museum is nearby plus you can get the 1$ trolley bus back to Downtown.3 wonderful experiences that can be done in one day !! Enjoy

Ok to see if you have time. Think it needs more timelines of blues and why artists were considered as good as they were. But theres a lot of great memorabilia and things to see.

They had a lot of nice stuff in there but for some reason I expect more. I think they can add more to the history and the evolution of Blues. That said, still cool place to go.

For a $10 cover I expected a bit more, but what was there was well done. I enjoyed the breakdown of sections by era of development and then by instrument, but the transition and the theme of each could be a lot clearer, and the flow could tell a much more coherent story. The computer system for browsing bios and music is excellent, but only if you are already familiar with the artists and have some idea of what you are looking for.If youre already somewhat of a blues aficionado, youll enjoy this. Id like to see it grow into a place that is more beginner-friendly where people can go to be introduced to and learn about the blues.

Adult Entry: $10. Great experience every time; ALWAYS learning something new when I go. Remarkable auditory full song recordings & written historic accounts, some video recordings too! Unique visuals: timelines, records, books, lyric notes, album jackets, costumes, instruments, figurines, awards, etc. Dont let the small size of this museum fool you, you could spend an entire day here just listening, watching, reading and exploring facts! Look up historic information through touch screen computers via musicians name, song or album, etc. Employees are all super positive at The Blues Hall of Fame!

The man at the entrance was very nice and welcoming. He let me walk around the lobby looking at the collection of photographs. He told me the history of good they said them. Apparently, someone had a while bunch of pictures and was going to throw them away. Instead the museum said they had space to display them and they were presented. I didnt have time to go through the exhibits downstairs.

If you love the blues, you will appreciate this wonderful tribute to blues women and men at the Blues Hall of Fame. While learning more about inductees, visitors can use interactive touch screens to read bios, watch videos and play full-length tunes that are broadcast over a speaker placed over each display, filling the room with music. As I played by Bobby Blue Bland and Howlin Wolf, a group of seniors came over to say they remembered the songs. The museum also features private listening booths. There is also a literal Hall of Fame with screens showcasing the inductees since 1980, when the Hall was started. Curator Nora Tucker has done a wonderful job putting the displays together, organizing them by genre such as country blues (Mississippi Fred McDowell, Robert Johnson) and city blues (Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon). The staff and volunteers were super friendly and helpful. Thanks Lonnie! The Blues Hall of Fame is housed in a former warehouse that has been beautifully refurbished. The Memphis downtown area, where the hall is located, is also on the come-up with new housing and restaurants. We were able to walk to the Saturday Farmers Market and some shops after visiting the Hall. The National Civil Rights Musuem and the Lorraine Hotel is also located across the street. Overall a fantastic experience that I highly recommend.
