My wife and I have toured historic homes all over the SE United States and this is one of the most memorable for us. Also, as the caretaker of a historic home, this one is done right. I have never been to a historic home that has so much of its original historic content or that has so much of it undisturbed. The young man who gave our tour was very personable and professional. You could also tell that he had a genuine love for the site which is the magic ingredient in making a good tour. We loved it and have recommended it to our friends in the history field. I hope to visit again one day and spend more time there.
I visited here on a quiet day and ended up getting a guided tour all to myself! My guide was wonderfully informative, friendly and chatty, and even offered me some antihistamines to help with the allergies I was suffering from during my visit. She told me all about the history of the house and the conservation work that they were carrying out and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The area that the house is situated is known as “Victorian Village” as there are a number of these grand Victorian properties on several streets, so it’s well worth having a walk around and seeing them all as they’re all very beautiful. (As a side note, some of them are closed to the public, but a few offer tours, and some have been converted into B&Bs)
Beautiful home and a great tour! Very special because it is filled with original family furnishings and artwork and not just period pieces.
The worst tour I have every been on. This senior citizen was trying to do the guided tour, she was awful. My husband and I left before we got to the second floor, she had us outside the house in the stemming memphis sun, while half ____ trying to talk about the out side .she was so boring if you had not been walking you would have fell asleep. I been on historic tours all around the world, came Home to Memphis and had to walk out. I wish the younger lady had done our tour. I am not against seniors, for I am a senior, Lady take my advice and go home or find another job. Your voice is to boring to be a tour guide. Couldnt you tell by the look on everyone face you were doing a BAD JOB. She wasted over and hour of my time, talking about nothing and was still not finished. I must find out your off day and return. As long as you are giving tours people take it from me and just run. DONT waste your quarters in the meter. She was beyond bad. Please replace her.
Unrestored Victorian home, so if you are curious to what it was like, check this place out.

Tour guide was great and history of the house very interesting
Beautiful, well-preserved house. Docent Michael was full of enthusiasm and knowledge about the house. He toured the house in the 80s and it turned out one of the family members who had lived there was on the tour with him!
Beautiful historical area.
Daisy Neely Mallory was my great aunt. I grew up going to dinners and to visit at her house. I remember it well.
