Beautiful place, possibly some unexploded ordinance out in the wooded areas,so not a good place to hike with the kids, but ,historical place my grandpa lead the axe crew to clear the land over 60 years ago

This place was amazing. Just make sure you take the safety video beforehand. Its for your own safety due to the amount of unexploded ammunition.

I live on the very Northern Edge of big Oaks and they do a decent job of keeping the area clean as far as being mowed.

I was disappointed to find out wed have to watch a safety video and sign a Waiver in order to enter the park since theres unexploded bombs and uranium everywhere. I would have liked to go inside the refuge but we didnt know how. Everything was gated off and there was no way off entering. It is a ginormous piece of land I wish could be of use to the general public.
