Nice sliver of a park on Lake Monona, with a small beach, not far from Capitol. Good place for a quick rest.

A somewhat secluded park 10 minutes from the Capitol Square on foot. You would never know you were that close to the city center. A beautiful view across the lake.

Its a lake beach. Easy access from road. Alas now the algae are back so there goes that for swimming. Otherwise good place for the kids to swim.

A perfect little lake front park to play frisbee, swim or picnic. It was a lot bigger than it looked on the map.

Dirty, small, and smelly as it may be, BB is as lovely of a Madison beach as youre gonna get. Maybe just stick to sunning yourself or staying for a sunset as opposed to swimming though...

A great place to bring the whole family and have a picnic or take a stroll. Theres lots of benches around for public use. Its one of the prettiest places in the Madison area.

Aside from passing the swimming test (yup), its a great beach, the only one with a diving raft and a weed barrier. And, its a fabulous for skinny dipping, especially at bar time on gay pride weekend...

One of Madisons great beaches! The sand and swimming area are what youd expect, although it gets deeper quicker than, say, Vilas. If you pass a simple swimming test you can swim out to the float and diving board. The grassy slope from the street down to the water makes this a wonderful park for picnics, hanging out and people watching, reading, or a nap in the shade.

Great swimming place for all ages. Beach and a playground. Right in the city. Madison water so it could be better if people would stop putting fertilizer on their lawn when they live along the Lakes.

This beach is basically like going to California. It has hills that are basically the same as mountain climbing. It has a diving board which is basically like cliff jumping, and it has a beach with a lifeguard stand which is safe and everyone likes safety. I have been going to this beach since I was around a week old and have loved every single moment of it. Except for one time when I was 4 I wanted some Pepsi and my mom said no, that was rough.

Always fun! Sometimes lake water can be a bit gross around the edges but the beach is generally well-maintained. I never go during the lifeguard hours because otherwise you have to take a swim test to go out to the floating dock.

Review №42

Small beach and a play structure. Bad news, park is very small and requires you to navigate a few steps or a slope down from Spaight Street, and there is no parking except street parking on Spaight. Good news, Spaight is quiet and the park is a nice place to linger. There is no food available at the park or right nearby so bring what you want. Also, this being the north shore of Lake Monona, swimming is unappealing in late summer.

BB Clarke beach is the best gay beach in Madison. There are always a lot of guys there and it is also very friendly to newcomers. There is a grassy area as well as a sand beach. The swimming area has a diving board and is roped off from boat. I love visiting during the summer months.
