Great jazz club thats been around for more than a year in the hear of Madison. Johann Wallmann quartet took the stage for two unbelievable sets. First time seeing the vibraphone as part of a jazz concert I was captivated by the melodies. Quality jazz artists and I cant wait to go back!

Madisons cozy live jazz night club venue that also actively supports youth in jazz. Good vibe to the place. Bar service is good, but youll have to go out the front at intermission to get your eats at a mobile restaurant. Isaiah Collier and the Chosen Few were there on Saturday, and there was some good played.

Love this place! Very cozy and intimate feeling for jazz and various kinds of music listening experience. Its the kind of place you come to enjoy the music and a drink after a long work day or a fun weekend evening. They have various musical events through out the week including weekly drum circle, Latin dance lessons. I have also enjoyed the jazz jam and concerts that featured wonderful musicians from all over the world.

I went to the free Latin music night on a Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Great DJ, great crowd. They could go a bit more easy on the Disco laser. Nice seating area, too.

Good atmosphere and good bar tender. The band wasnt great the first time I went, but I support any business that supports young musicians. The building is bigger than most bar/music venues that Ive been to, but if youre going to listen to the music, its good to sit closer to the stage. A lot of the people that go here like to talk, and sometime it can be hard to hear if the bar is between you and the band. They have some nice cocktails, and their bartenders are very good.

Had hope for this place since there arent great places to hear music in Madison. Just a weird vibe and a terrible bar. I felt.bad for the bartenders because I think they were doing the best with what they had. We got there at 6:45 for an 8pm show. Many drinks we tried to order were already no longer available. This was clearly a bar having issues paying for sufficient inventory. Not enough glasses, beers sold out, poor liquor choices, had to round up glasses and wash which consisted of dunking them in a few rounds of water and some sort of cleaning solution. My friend and I actually felt sick after our glasses of wine. Not sure if the bottles of wine had been out and open too long or what. Awful experience.

Great jazz venue. The owner and booker are great people. Well located on Williamson Street. Mondays 7 to 10 p.m. live entertainment $5 cover, well worth it for a jazzy bluesy R&B evening of entertainment. Fridays 5 to 7 p.m. no cover charge live entertainment.

Madison needed this! Great new venue for live music and dancing. Jazz as well as other music acts are featured. Good sound system, great bar, and the cozy atmosphere. Bar tenders are friendly and swift to serve. Stage is small, but then again this is a small cozy place. Among all the giant music venues this is a special option. People were happy, dancing and enjoying the whole experience. Looking forward to visiting again and seeing how it transforms into a keystone. Go check it out for yourself!

Room for improvement at a very nice venue! The music can be great but not all events met expectations as described on the web site. Would be nice to consistently mention a no talk “listening room” policy at the beginning of each show. It is not the best place to take your date to chat with background music if you don’t know that. Would be better to “show not tell” how great this place can be by getting to the music more efficiently. When drink options are well stocked it is a pleasure! It is a bit pricey for Madison but with improvements it would be worth it!

I went here for Thursday for the Night of the Improvisor and was blown away not only by the music but how it felt like I was a part of a family during my stay.If you are a musician (especially Jazz) then Cafe Coda is a MUST for you to experience (and hopefully perform on stage!). Everyone I met here had a wealth of knowledge and experience that they generously shared. For fans of music or anyone looking for a great venue I give Cafe Coda my absolute highest recommendation. This is a perfect place to bring a date, your friend, or even enjoy a drink with your own company.

Great new venue that offers live jazz for a reasonable price. Atmosphere was lovely, owner was very present on the floor interacting w staff and greeting guests. My beer didnt taste right however. My first choice was oit and the second choice did not taste fresh. The bartender offered another glass but the experience was exactly the same. I would go here again, but next time Willie sure to get a cocktail instead. Cuban band was excellent and overall an enjoyable event.

I want this little music club to succeed. The jazz was really good, so that increases my rating. The atmosphere wasnt very good. The drinks are essentially what you would get at your average bar. The food is not convenient, since you need to go next door to order and pay. The sound wasnt balanced between the microphones. So its a great idea, but the execution could be improved.

Long narrow space, well stocked bar: wine, craft beer, lots of brandies (including cognac, bourbon, etc), and retro cocktails. No food. At least on the night I was there, the vibe was cold and serious. This is one of those clubs with a quiet policy, including if you’re sitting at the bar and away from the stage. Though it isn’t explicitly communicated you will be shushed if you transgress. So humiliating!—know before you go and either zip your lips or take your conversation elsewhere. I don’t think I’ll go back, but I do appreciate that a space exists for serious jazz musicians and fans to do their own thing. Only knocking off one star because of the lack of communication re: expectations. A note on the website, FB event pages, and a reminder when paying the cover about a quiet policy being in effect would help ensure everyone has a great experience, with minimal disruptions and awkwardness.

Beautiful decor but terrible service and unimpressive and ridiculous entertainment!! Was told to go there for the open Jam last week and they were closed with no notice. Went back a week later and there was nobody in there except two bartenders and one customer. We asked for the menu and we ordered a couple of beers that were on their import list and they had said that they had no beer at all. Very confusing! Then ordered wine and as we watched the entertainment which consisted of the owner of the club playing saxophone, he had his back to the audience and performed with a drummer. That was it!! Thats the entertainment. Wow, very unimpressed. He was playing very fast on his instrument and screaming a bunch of high notes. Now I see why theres nobody there. Upon receiving our bill , they charged us an additional $5 per person for a cover charge without disclosing it to us to begin with . There were no signs to even indicate that . Extremely disappointing!!! Felt sorry for the bartenders who were nice but had no beer to sell, as well as having to charge a $5 cover. I would not recommend ever going there!! VERY Sad to see such a beautiful place go to waste!!
