Fancy vibes at the Da Poetry Lounge for sure! They do not have hard liquor here, only wine and champagne. My favorite part were the chambongs...is it a gimmick? SURE, but still a fun experience! :)

The highlight of the week if you are into poetry reading or reciting, or you have a performance you want to share. Each performance is so powerful, you cant wait to hear the next. LIVE DJ one of whom his music was selected for an award. The hosts they are also dope. Youll be rolling with laughter or feeling all kinds of emotions from the different material shared in different performance.Very worthwhile and of high quality, like David Letterman, the only difference were not on TV.

It’s a safe space. Low lit and welcoming. 20 people get to sign up a night and it’s about 2.5 hours, depending on how long performers go. They line up early to get a chance to use this place and it’s beautiful. Under 18 welcomes. Only water in the theatre out of respect. Snapping preferred over clapping. The owners are the hype men and it’s fun! So happy to have found this place

Ive only been there once, I will definitely be there again. I didnt expect the poetry and the stand up to be that interesting and meaningful, great talents and an amazing presenter. Theres a $10 take it out the door, the stage can get full so its better to be there on time.

Its one of the longest running open mics in the country for a reason. The crowd is always lit. The energy is amazing. Whether youre a performer, a fan, or have a Tuesday night free, its a great way to spend an evening. The line starts forming super early but folks bond during the wait. Its like Disneyland. Its worth it. Get there early, especially if you plan to get on the mic.

Ive been coming here for a couple of months and performed twice. I love it! Everyone here is so nice and just wants to support eachother. Its a great way to spend your Tuesday night. Only $10. It starts at 9pm but the people that want to perform start lining up at around 6:30pm. If you want to perform, get there early. If you dont want to perform, the earlier people get there the more likely you will get a seat. Otherwise there is seating on the floor. I got there at like 7:45 before and still got a seat.Overall its a great time regardless of where you sit! Im excited to keep going!

This is the best weekly open mic in Southern Cali. Sign up and be ready with your verses or simply snap for the poetry. Since 1998 the same crew has been running the event at the Greenway Ct. Theater at Fairfax High and its just as a creative scene as ever. Every Tuesday night, dont miss it!

Nice, small setting with great sound and some explosive poets and mcs (with the occasional special guests). Sharp and quick witted host and DJ, and all for a mad reasonable fee. Cash only tho. My wife and I try to get out here every Tuesday that we can, such a dope hip hop experience every time.

Amazing. Simply amazing. Waiting outside for a hour to get a seat was a little annoying, but otherwise perfect.

The first time I ever went to an open mic, the black woman who was heading the event was very rude and ignorant. After paying an entrance fee, we were told we would be sitting on the floor on the stage because all the seats were taken already. That should have been brought to our attention before. At the very least, a discount should have been offered. The ticket people were also selling candy at the door. My friends and I bought some, and once we found a seat on the floor we were told by the obese black woman (I dont know her name) to put the candy away, and gave me a disgusted face as if I was the one being rude. Why were you selling food if you dont want people eating it? Is this how you guys treat customers? This was in 2013, hopefully Da Poetry Lounge has made improvements since.
