Amazing venue! We saw a Sting production The Last Ship. We had balcony seats that were pretty high up, but over $100 each. The view from the balcony was still good, considering the price. There are no bad seats in the theatre as far as visibility of the stage- the stage is in view for all seats. The sound in the theater is outstanding. There are several restrooms located in the theatre. We didnt bring in backpacks, but the staff didnt seem to be stopping anyone that I saw. During the intermissionmy husband was told by an usher that we select closer unused seats! Wow! So, we had way better seats for the remainder of the program! We had an absolutely amazing time

I last came here for a showing of The Book of Mormon. This is one of favorite venues for a Broadway musical. It has great acoustics and its a bit smaller than the Hollywood Pantages Theatre so theres really no bad seat in the house. Everything is clean and sleek which is much more enjoyable than smelly Hollywood! Flat $9 parking is available after 4:30 pm in the Music Center Garage with the entrance off of Grand Ave. Theres plenty of pre-show food options all within walking distance.

Love this theater! Been here multiple time for shows. Seats can be close, but youll have great views. Get there early and have dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants and/it grab a drink inside from the bar before the show. You cant beat dinner and a show. One great way to enjoy DTLA.

Always a great theatre but the seats in the upper mezzanine are very narrow. If you have broad shoulders, I strongly recommend an aisle seat.I have seen several shows here. It is a grand theatre, great sound system, and perfectly set up for high tech sets and lighting. Hoping to see a couple more shows here in the next year!

I was impressed that you could see from any seat. The theater is a great size, even from less expensive seats. If you have mobility issues, I find the mezzanine level of the first few rows a good choice. The stairs to your seat are the small rise with the deeper platform. The sound was clear and easy to hear.Food and drinks are easily available outside before and during the show, so you dont have to wait in long lines. There are 2 places to easily grab food and drink before the show, and there are table and chairs around the fountain to sit and eat. There is one resturant to sit inside. You may also bring your own food. Come early to enjoy the atmosphere.Season tickets are reasonably priced for the Center Theater Group, starting from about $20 and up per show. Parking in the garage is extra.

Wonderfully accessible, large enough for the biggest shows, yet still quite intimate. Excellent acoustics, and plenty of leg room in the orchestra.Seating right at 2,000 guests, this theatre is great for close views of your favorite productions.Parking is easy in The Music Center Garage, and you can enjoy the beautiful courtyard before and after the show while you wait for traffic to slow down. One complaint, is that since there is no aisle in the middle of the orchestra, having to get up and walk past a dozen or more people for a break can be a disruption to theatre patrons, and a hassle for you. Also, there are some steps in the orchestra, so access for wheel chairs and walkers can be challenging.Over all, a great theatre and friendly staff.

Went in knowing what view I was getting thanks to their convenient website where I purchased the tickets directly l.It was a much smaller venue than I was expecting which was great and made me feel more connected to the experience. Seems as if all of orchestra seating has a great line of sight to the stage. Employees were helpful, amicable and proficient. Snacks and booze were a bit pricey but snacks and booze are always a welcome treat at any theatrical showing.

This is a really nice venue. It is no frills, but I like that the focus is on the show. All of the staff are helpful and friendly. For starters, the website does not work if youre trying to buy show tickets online. I called to get show tickets for The Last Ship for my mom who was in town visiting and asked for the best seats for my price point. The seats we ended up with had an obstructed view, and that was not shared when the purchase was made. We could only see the bottom half of the actors bodies for the balcony scenes. Our seats were in Row G. I called to share feedback after the show and was told I would receive a call back to see what could be done after a conversation with the Ticket Director, and I havent heard anything since. Poor customer experience and lack of follow up.

Went to see The Humans, while I felt the actual play left something to be desired, the performances were fantastic. The venue itself was fantastic. Great site lines, no challenge with hearing the performance, and it was easy to navigate to and from seats. Love this elegant, large theater. It is large, (I havent been seated in rear balcony for this reason). Ive had seats on wing boxes, first 8 rows of balcony & floor. All were good visibility. Sound system is good. Food choices in plaza courtyard available, also indoor restaurant. Or picnic on outdoor tables.

Best to park in one of the nearby private lots; the parking is like a maze, and very crowded when the event is over. Food in the area is very good, but also very pricey. Plays are generally good to Great, but there is an occasional stinker in the season line-up. It is also time for the Center Theater Group to reuphoster the seating. The seats are clean and intact, but the cushions are worn, resulting in uncomfortable seating. You may want to consider bringing something to put across your knees or shoulders, it is generally very chilly in the theater. Enjoy the show!

Great place in the middle of the Downtown cultural and arts district, right next to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with endless parking, escalators and more than ample walking and sitting areas. The theatre itself is a nice size - not huge but also not tiny. Just the right size for a great crowd but with no real bad seats. Its very close to major freeways and there are a lot of street angles from which to leave the place so there isnt much worry about being stuck in endless traffic in or out. Overall it is a great place to see a show and I had a great time.

I have heard of this well-known theater in LA before but hadnt had the chance to go until about a month ago. This was my first time seeing a ballet (Swan Lake) and I must admit, I was taken back by the live performance experience. We sat in the nose bleed section but the view was not bad. The staff was very polite and were very accommodating as I rushed to buy drinks at the concession stand and rushed to get back to my seat before they closed the doors. I would gladly come back again.

The theatre might be as good as the shows played on the stage; regardless the Ahmanson is modern and comfortable with no obvious obstructed views across the levels. Despite the new construction, the lines to the toilets and refreshments form quickly at the intermission and when the bell tolls to return to watch act two, its clear some people wouldnt be able to purchase their refreshments. Finally, because this is downtown, dining options are few and far between. There are two food options on the theatre lot, along with adjacent wine bar and coffee shop, but lines form quickly and some wanting to eat dont get, so plan accordingly. The Ahmanson is close to public transit, making convenient even for those who dont worship their car despite being in the heart of LA.

They sell blue cheese as a snack that audience members can bring in to the show with them??!?!? We had to ask the girl next to use to put it away after she had it open for 30 minutes because the stench was overwhelming. Having to ask that put a lot of pressure on the paying customers to confront fellow seat mates. Food shouldnt be allowed, cause whos cleaning the seats after? You think its easy to get the smell of blue cheese out of velvet seats? Or that theyre washing each seat 15 times a week after every show? The theater was dusty as well. Ive been to most theaters in LA, and this is at the bottom of my list.

The Ahmanson is part of three Center Theater Group theaters. Ahmanson on the Music Center Plaza DYLA, is best for musicals including traveling productions from London, Broadway traveling shows. They also support new productions that go on to Broadway. The Mark Taper is is also on the Music Center Plaza and presents many outstanding plays. The third theater is the Kirk Douglas in Culver City, smaller venue and newer plays for the most part. We love all three venues and subscribe to the Ahmanson.
