Sold my familys estate via Chait and could not be more pleased with the outcome. The process was smooth, fair and transparent. Jake was excellent and was able to deal with a complex and sometimes emotional transaction with absolute professionalism and class. After my father fell ill my parents needed to sell their home and downsize. They had amassed a huge collection over several decades. The collection was vast and eclectic; everything from tribal and Asian art, European antiques, jewelry, etc. It was literally hundreds of items and Jake and his crew came in and carefully and respectfully inventoried and packed up a lifetime of memories in a single day.It took several months to sell all the contents of the collection and disbursements were made on a regular basis after the auctions. One big ticket item took about a month or two to get paid. It was estimated for a few thousand dollars but ended up selling for six figures! My parents were so thrilled, watching the action live online validated a lifetime of collecting and showed they had a good eye and excellent taste! Jake said the reason for the delay was that it sold to an overseas buyer and they flew to the USA the following month to attend several other auctions and paid and picked up in person. My parents were not upset about the delay when the check arrived! What started out as a very sad and depressing affair actually developed into a lovely and happy transition for my parents and gave them some closure. Instead of feeling loss when the collection all sold, my father said he was happy to see the artifacts he admired and lived with on a daily basis, were all gong to new homes and would be appreciated and admired like we all did.Chait is a family run operation and works like one. They are also going through some transitions and growing pains it seems. Jake actually told me about his father (founder of the company) having a heart attack and how difficult that was for his family and company. Perhaps that is why he was so kind with me had such empathy for my situation. It was quite touching (and funny) to see Jake at the helm and his father keeping a very close eye on him and his empire from the confines of his electric scooter! It is not a corporate environment and at all, very warm and personal actually. There was an email or phone call missed here and there but Jake gave me his personal cell number and told me to call anytime as there were some personnel changes and things got lost in the shuffle.Bottom line, my family and I were thrilled with the personal service and attention we got at Chait and would not hesitate to use them or refer anyone in the future.

A family-owned business specializing in Asian things, very honest and accurate in describing the items being auctioned. An excellent place to consign Asian art to get a wide audience from all over the world, including China. Chinese collectors and dealers fly to Beverly Hills every month to bid on items in the sale. That is one of their best recommendations, the trust and loyalty of their mainland Chinese customers. People also bid absentee, on the phone and on the Internet from all over the world. Its a lot of fun. Visit their website to see catalogs and prices going back years to get an idea of what they sell, and the prices realized. You can sometimes get great bargains, but really valuable things can go for high prices.

I am a long time purchaser (and occasional seller) at IM Chait and couldnt be happier with the honesty and knowledge of the staff. They are quite honest with me and arent afraid to say what is antique and what is not. There are serious treasures to be found here!. I recently sold a Chinese chest here I thought to be worth $300 and it brought $4000. Its the best auction house in LA in my opinion.

Horrible staff they were so unprofessional tried to scam me I gave them over 100k of items to sell and they wanted me to sign a paper that would give me 2k what a bunch of scammers. Went back on their word from when we initially spoke. Steer clear of I. M. Chait you will be very disappointed.

I did not get good service with this company, here it is three weeks after auction and still did not received merchandise. I called them back in timely manor to check on status of my winning bid and they still did not have merchandise ready yet. I dont suggest using them for shipping either, they charged me $32 for an item weighting less than 1 gram. What a SCAM. They sent me a email w/ price and said they shipped it registered mail.STILL WAITING, HA! HA!. Ive done hundreds of auctions all over the world and this one takes the cake.

I had a piece of pre-Columbian art from Central America that I thought would look good in someone elses collection, as I prefer Asian. The nice, competent people at Chait Gallery took care of everything, getting it sold in a timely manner at the price I wanted. I was very happy with their help and the final result.

Looks like I am not the first to be ripped off by Chait Galleries…A few Chait Gallery reviews Quoted from Yelp:Beware!!! I was won and purchase three items from this company, They said that is antiques, But everythings new, nothing is antique. Beware this company, They always cheat your money, Never return you items, You can not get your money back.David L.Carrollton, TXbid on and won 3 chinese vases by their absentee proceedure - paid oveaardvarkantiques@prod… $100 for s/h - when received i found 1 of the vases had 2 signicant chips which were not noted in the auction listing (these significantly effected the value and would have caused me not to bid had i known). i wrote to joey chait and was told there was no damage when they listed the vase & it must have happened in shipping. i explained that they packed extreemely well and tthere is no way it could happen in transit but had to occur during packing or at the gallery and sent pictures - he never replied! i sent 3 more emails - still no reply.bottom line = they just cannot be trusted if your an absentee bidder.Allen G.Alpharetta, GAPurchased an antique jade item from them. Make sure you see their items in person. I know for a fact they buy stuff from ebay to sell at their auctions - that says it all. I now have a very expensive rock. Their pictures are great, but the items dont always live up to the pictures.Bob W.Chicago, IL
