It’s a nice dog park. I feel like it’s smaller than Cherry Creek Dog Park. This one has ponds. So if your dog likes to swim, this is a good park. My dog only dips his legs. So, I prefer Cherry Creek where my dog could walk and play along the shallow stream. Nevertheless, this is a really nice park.

We took our Pup to this Dog Park today and overall it was a good experience, the park is a great Size compared to many others in the Metro. My only gripe is the fact that this Dog Park falls under the State Park Pass Requirement, and my opinion is if it is going to receive extra funding via the State Park Passes ontop of other misc Tax revenue, then they should do a much better job of keeping Cactus out of the Park as it can be an issue for Dogs and people alike while walking.

Great dog park south of Denver off of 470. About 30 minutes for the city but worth the drive. Very big, 69 acres, totally fenced in. Usually lots of dogs to play with. Two large ponds provide swimming opportunities. A paved trail around the perimeter is about two miles around. Lots of parking.Feb 1 2020: The two lakes have low water, and the ice has melted. They are consequently very muddy, and it’s that really stinky mud. I prefer Cherry Creek State ParkIt’s in the state park. Admission to the park is $9 for the day and $3 for the dog park. An annual pass is $80 plus $25 for the dog park (2020 prices). But this gets you into all of the CO state parks and dog parks including Cherry Creek Dog Park, which is similar and even bigger. Well worth it.

The park is clean, for the most part people generally pick up after their dogs. Watch out for the cactus though. The water in the lakes may be a problem given it doesnt flow much. We prefer our dog doesnt drink it but she decides.

My favorite thing about this off leash park is that there is a paved path to walk on and plenty of trash cans/bag dispensers so you don’t have to carry poop bags for long or worry if you forgot to grab a bag at the entrance. There was plenty of space for my pup to run and explore and he particularly loved the water which looked clean and not mossy or muddy. The other pets we came across were mostly well behaved and the owners were all nice. There’s more than one path to walk depending on how short or long you want your walk to be. We did two full laps and it wore my energetic puppy out so it was well worth the visit!

Our dogs absolutely love this place. Worth the entrance fees! This is not your typical dog park. There is so much to explore and plenty of space to find a private beach or trail, even on busy days.Watch for ticks and expect a dirty, wet, tired dog when you go home!My little dog can slip under the gates and escape the fence. Its not super secure but with that much open space and good recall/check in routine its not been a draw for him. Just a heads up if you have an escape artist little dog that would rather run away.

We love this dog park - it is the most amazing dog park we have ever seen! There are trails, paved walkways, ponds, and tons of dogs. In addition to the wonderful outdoor environment, the other dogs and their owners are very well behaved. We drive past other dog parks to go visit Chatfield on a regular basis. If you live in the area, it is well worth purchasing the annual pass.

We went a lot in the past, then we had kids. Now we’re getting back on track to taking care of our first fur baby. The park is large and clean, ponds for the dogs to cool off. Trails that go through underbrush sometimes. If you go during the day maybe bring a sun shade.

Gorgeous views, every dog and person there is extremely friendly. Allows you to give your pup all the exercise they desire, in a safe, fenced in place. Great trails, lots of different paths to take. They even have a few ponds that the dogs are able to swim it. I would highly reccomend you check it out, has something for everyone (and their dogs).

This is a fantastic off-leash park to take your dog. Well worth the $2 fee for the dog park (which is in addition to the $6 state park fee). They do a great job of keeping the park clean and providing ample bins and bags for doggie messes. Be sure that your dog is friendly with other pups when you come. This is more of a hike and play than a rumpus field for pups. There is plenty of open space, lots of water features... We just love it here. This is a fantastic place to take pups and family for an afternoon.

Br
Review №32

It’s overly complex to get to. It’s right next to 85, yet there’s no access from there so you have to take a little road from a mile south off of Wadsworth with a 25 mph speed limit. It’s $12 a day when there are multiple free dog parks nearby. There is no separate area for smaller dogs. The fence and gates aren’t secure as a smaller dog can slip through. There’s a pond which is awesome if your dog is into water. There are poop bags supplied. There was a lot of poop on the ground when I went. It has a ton of potential with all that space and could be a great park with a few tweaks to earn the high price tag.

Great place to stop at! Our pup needed to stretch his legs after being cooped up in our truck for our trip through Colorado. Didnt realize it was a state park, and you need to pay to enter. $10 got us a day pass plus entry for the dog park. Acreage aplenty for dogs to romp and play. You gotta stay with your pup or you will lose sight of them. Made my other half and I get our steps in, so a win-win all around. Heads up if you have a 5th wheel camper, go when its not as busy and you may find a place big enough to fit closer to the dog park itself.

So torn because it’s such a great sized park and so much fun, but I just don’t feel it’s safe for my dog. We used to come all the time when we first moved to the area earlier this year, and everytime I went more and more cactuses kept popping up not even 2 feet from the main trail, by March there were so many cactus I didn’t feel safe letting my dog off leash - kinda defeats the point of a dog park. We let a few months pass and I recently went back, the cactus are gone but we ran into a Bullsnake that was at least 5 feet long by one of the ponds and then walking a little farther there was a rattlesnake crossing the sidewalk! Obviously this is CO and cactus and snakes come with the territory but I don’t feel like the park is cleared enough of the cactus and the grass gets awfully tall and it’s a great place for so many snakes to hide.

We love this place. There is so much space for the dogs to run, you dont see the hyper over stimulated fighting that happens at most dog parks. There is so much space we take a different path every time and never do the same route twice. The east most parking area has a wonderful bathrooms for the humans and a dog washing station in the summer. It is pound water so I recommend washing off the dogs before heading home. The one negative is in a hot summer when it hasnt rained for a while the water will get pretty gross. And my dogs are water magnets, so we avoid it then and will head over to cherry creek. Otherwise this is by far our favorite park.

There is even some dog water fountains. Though they were off today, I just assume they were off for winter. The off leash area at Chatfield is such a change from regular dog parks. Most dog parks are grassless, often treeless, muddy, pityful fenced spaces. Chatfields off leash area is fenced but it is large and you have the original terrain with trees, bushes, meadows, whatever is native to Colorados front range. The signature features are the two ponds the dogs can swim in. Some of the trails are paved, some arent. Plus they have a goodly number of benches distributed along the trails around the ponds. A dog can run and sniff and explore to their hearts content even if they dont swim but my labradoodle loves the swimming.
