Wow..what a visit..to what a leader in Battle..we didnt even go inside but just seeing where this Badass Union General was raised was indeed a moving experience..there were several folks from out of state waiting for the Museum to open..I spoke with a couple from Michigan that were definitely moved by being there..a gorgous sign with a cannon in raised front yard
Beautiful house very polite staff. Great little piece of history.
Interesting museum. The docent who led my tour was very knowledgeable and provided interesting information about Sherman and his family that helped to put them in context. There are some high quality gallery exhibits upstairs with many Civil War artifacts. Definitely worth a visit if you’re near Lancaster. It is in easy walking distance of downtown restaurants, shops, other museums, and lots of great historic buildings.
I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Sherman House Museum. The tour guide was detailed yet entertaining as she showed us the home of one of the greatest Union generals of the Civil War. The museum itself has some very unique Civil War artifacts that I have not witnessed in other museums. From those who are Civil War fanatics to those with a casual interest, this is a must stop.
Very nice area. Going back when we can get in and tour.
Great historical place. Informative staff.
A must see museum for Civil War and local history buffs . Very professional and well informed staff provide an informative guided tour.
Really glad we finally went! Learned a lot and the staff was excellent. Sherman was not only a Civil War hero but a very cool guy from a great family that understood Democracy and helped shape America. Bonus: Theres a handwritten letter from Lincoln upstairs!
Small town museum but really great experience. The house is decent but the good stuff is upstairs in the war portion.
Its a lil $$ but way worth it the ppl,. almost transport in back in time when telling awesome stories of the famous family that once owned the house & property..... but wishing they would really expand out ward on the property meaning the out side..... its tiny now but back in the day im sure it was huge area all around the home...................
Very nice and interesting. Staff needs to brush up on their knowledge of General Sherman and the civil war era.
Learn about the boyhood home of Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman. Docent tours and cute gift shop. Located in the old downtown with restaurants and pubs within walking distance.
Great tour of William T. Shermans house! Staff were very knowledgeable.
History is always better outside of a classroom. Took my two girls and two of there friends. (All Jr. High age). They loved exploring the rooms and looking at all the memorabilia.
Our family loved this museum. Very knowledgeable staff. The garden outside is definitely worth seeing as well!
Many historical facts and artifacts are there. Very interesting.
Nice tour by a knowledgeable guide. Good price($6 for adults), easy to find, air conditioned, leisure to go back through at your own pace.
This was fantastic. If you like civil war history this is s must if you are in the area.
Very nice place to learn about local history.
Very interesting. Tour guide vey informative. Cost is very inexpensive.
Lancaster is great in the summer especially July. The grounds are immaculate, the house is not as great as the legacy.
It was very interesting and the tour is voluntary. The exhibits were cool and I loved it.
Must visit if you are in Lancaster. Not sure most people realize Sheman was from Lancaster. Story of his life is amazing and to be in his boyhood house is special.
Love this place. A must see while in town
We only had an hour to see this, but the tour guide was polite and helpful. Great variety of items on display
If you are into the Civil War and live in Ohio this is a must stop destination. Especially if you are into studying Civil War Generals.
Very rich in history! Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area.
Very interesting historically! Excellent volunteer staff!
Good memories
Docent very friendly and pleasant. Quite informative.
Wonderful tour. I learned so much about Sherman. It was very interesting!
Loved it sooo much
Fantastic place! If youre a Civil War buff or even if not, youll love this museum. The docents were very well informed and friendly.
Being an American History fan, I was enthralled by the place . Great price and good family fun .
The tour guide was very good and the building was well preserved
Very nice
The hours listed are close@4pm/1600hrs. BUT the docent told me they only do guided tours. If no one is there by 3pm/1500hrs they close shop. So when we showed up at 3:10pm/1510hrs the place was locked up tight with a closed sign in the window. The docent was leaning on the front fence chit chatting, hence this inside dope from May2017.
Cool place
Very interesting Civil War information
The Sherman House Museum will be closed July 4th, 2015. It will be open Friday, July 3rd, and Sunday, July 5th, from noon until 4 p.m.
Not as much as I expected. Little let down
Nice
Good tour
The staff were very friendly.
Sherman did nothing wrong, burn Savannah again.
