I LOVED THE OLD TOWN STORY AND MEMORIES WITH PICTURES AND
Excellent spot to visit and enjoy when you get a chance to check out Alaska. Knowing some things about the region helps you appreciate it just that much more. Weve been twice and were going back again soon. If you have the opportunity to visit... TAKE IT!
A nice little way to learn about the culture, and ways of Ketchikan, with a stunning view of the creek and Salmon! A great learning experience for someone who wants to learn more!
Great displays and interpretations of local history. Wonderful pieces from the First People showing the ingenuity and skill of their culture.
I loved spending over 4 hours at this Museum. VERY informative about the culture and past of Ketchikan Alaska
This is a really well put together museum of local history.
So much information was crammed in this museum. Native and settler history with a focus on maritime trades and information. I really wish this place had a gift shop (like this town could fit another one )
In conjunction with the Totum Historical Museum, it gives a feel for what life was like in the time period covered. Nice displays.
Very well displayed and archived! Gorgeous old pictures and well preserved artifacts
We didnt have a lot of time, so we chose this museum over the nearby Discovery Center. At $6 a person, I think it was a little pricey. While the exhibits were interesting and informative, it was a pretty small museum with basically just two rooms. If you dont mind spending the money and have just an hour or so to spend, it is a great place to visit. If youre looking for a place to spend a few hours with kids, you might be better off heading to the Discovery Center.
I liked it here but might not be of interest to someone not into history. Do it if time permits.
Great place to learn about Ketchikan history. The free shuttle is right outside.
Beautiful glad we went. Thank you Jodi
Definitely worth a quick stop when visiting Ketchikan!
For a tiny museum in a tiny coastal town, there is so much to see. I highly recommend it.
Good presentation. Worth $5.
A wonderful little museum which is definitely worth a visit.
Very reasonable entry fee. Great place to shelter from the rain. Also great vantage point to watch seals hunting salmon in the creek.
Great value and friendly staff. Lots of fun local stuff.
Just great and has wonderful artifacts for generations to come
Quality materials but perhaps more interpretation needed.
A history of a wonderful area in photos, self guided. Could have stayed for longer but the feet said gotta go. I want to come back again soon.
The ranger was extremely helpful and could not have been friendlier. This was my first time in Alaska and the people made it all worthwhile.
Beautifully remodeled museum with a well curated and designed permanent exhibit featuring artifacts from the various industries that have cycled through Ketchikan.
Nicely done exhibits and great staff!
Awesome pictures of the past. Amazing place to see history. Cheap entry cost. Free for military and kids
This was a nice starting point for people to get to know about the Tongass National Forest. The rangers are very helpful and get you started in understanding the immense size of this forest. We spent 4 nights on a cruise ship traveling from ketchikan to Skagway and never left Tongass. Worth the visit and very well done visitors center.
Generic souvenirs galore. Two whole buildings full! Honestly more impressive gift shop Ive ever seen.
Great trip the museum was great
Great history of the local area.
Awesome movie with information. Friendly staff.
Nice local history.
The very interesting history of Ketchikan laid out in historic photos and artifacts for a very nominal fee. Definitely worth a visit if youre interested in history..
Its hard to believe that the entrance fee for this museum is so small, given how rich it is in diverse and intriguing historical artifacts. Any visitor to Ketchikan will learn more from ten minutes at the Tongass Historical Museum than in hours wandering between shops downtown. I cant wait to see this museum expand its exhibit space even more in the future.
Very cool history and worth a visit if you are in Ketchikan.
It was a great little muesum. The kids and I really enjoyed it and it was nice to do something other look at tourist shops.
Nice local historical museum.
Gorgeous! Such an amazing place to have seen, and spend the day!

Great experience with interactive exhibits for kids as well as in depth information for adults
Good for a small town museum
Very nice museum. Worth visiting
Small, but very interesting. Very reasonable on price.
Worth your time!
Very clean, well layed out, good value.
Fairly extensive
Museums are always great
Interesting place. Clean inside.
Open too the public with $5.00 too get in too see the artifacts & what not.
Interesting Museum. Features some artifacts related to the formation of and early industry of the city, as well as tons of photographs.
Old Pics lot of History
Read every single plaque in the museum and was done in 12 minutes. The museum has room for expansion but all of the display was in one room, apx 20 by 25 ft and held mostly recent works, by those wishing to keep the history and skills alive, for the next generation. Even at $3, it was overpriced.
Very interesting collection of the history of Ketchikan. Very friendly staff.
Great examples of local Native Alaska art.
Very informative with photo ops.
Delightful museum. Must see when in town.
