Great little museum we visited on our trip. We loved learning about how Ketchikan began and has evolved as well as viewing local artwork . The stream out back has tons of salmon to watch trying to swim up stream which was an unexpected bonus. All around fascinating.

Excellent spot to visit and enjoy when you get a chance to check out Alaska. Knowing some things about the region helps you appreciate it just that much more. Weve been twice and were going back again soon. If you have the opportunity to visit... TAKE IT!

So much information was crammed in this museum. Native and settler history with a focus on maritime trades and information. I really wish this place had a gift shop (like this town could fit another one )

We didnt have a lot of time, so we chose this museum over the nearby Discovery Center. At $6 a person, I think it was a little pricey. While the exhibits were interesting and informative, it was a pretty small museum with basically just two rooms. If you dont mind spending the money and have just an hour or so to spend, it is a great place to visit. If youre looking for a place to spend a few hours with kids, you might be better off heading to the Discovery Center.

This was a nice starting point for people to get to know about the Tongass National Forest. The rangers are very helpful and get you started in understanding the immense size of this forest. We spent 4 nights on a cruise ship traveling from ketchikan to Skagway and never left Tongass. Worth the visit and very well done visitors center.

Its hard to believe that the entrance fee for this museum is so small, given how rich it is in diverse and intriguing historical artifacts. Any visitor to Ketchikan will learn more from ten minutes at the Tongass Historical Museum than in hours wandering between shops downtown. I cant wait to see this museum expand its exhibit space even more in the future.

Read every single plaque in the museum and was done in 12 minutes. The museum has room for expansion but all of the display was in one room, apx 20 by 25 ft and held mostly recent works, by those wishing to keep the history and skills alive, for the next generation. Even at $3, it was overpriced.
