FREE cant beat that. Entertainment for kids and adults. Cool to see the cash vault and watch the employees count crates and crates of mulah. Make your own money booth, picture with 40 million, interesting facts about money, photo booth allows you to send it straight to your email, best of luck picking up the gold bar and a short survey at the end either gives you a free sticker or 10% off coupon at gift shop. Just do it!!!

What a really neat concept, and very American.A museum dedicated to the concept of money. It really is worth your time if you want to go visit it. The coin collection in there is second to none, it has examples of almost every coin ever minted by the United States Treasury. They have a 30 lb bar of gold you can lift up. And theres some really neat displays outside of that.Worth your time for a short visit.

Hanging Out with GeorgeI took the time to let my curiosity roam and found one of the most interesting free tours in Missouri. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is an impressive regional headquarters of the central bank of the United States. I’m embarrassed to say that it’s taken all this time for me to explore a site that’s located in my own backyard.Within the buildings design of clean, simple lines, space and pleasing light, is a trove of information, photos, displays and an actual work force on site. Read about the monetary policy and how the Federal Reserve controls the supply and tracking of currency as the regions demand for cash determines it.Through easy to read displays, learn of the supervision and regulation of banks throughout the nation as the Federal Reserve promotes steady growth and expansion in the economy. You will discover how money is distributed to banks as well as what steps are taken to replace worn out and counterfeit bills.A few quick fun facts-Try to lift the 27-pound, 389.27 oz gold bar that was cast in 1959 at the U.S. mint in San Francisco. It takes 24 minutes for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to print 10 million new 100.00 bills! In 1988, the bank pneumatic tube messaging system, installed in 1921 was taken out of commission. If you spent one dollar every second, it would take 15 months before you spent 40 million dollars.During your visit, check out the Truman Coin Collection then make your way to the cash vault to view money being counted and stored.Overall: This free self-guided tour is a great way to get a better understanding of the Feds purpose as well as introducing children to the importance and value of saving, investing and that money doesn’t grow on trees!

There is so much to learn, and everything is presented in such an easy format to take in. Lots of great little activities and exhibits for kids. There are some activities that are better for younger kids, like creating your own dollar bill (they have a station with a blank currency note and crayons, where you can shade different patterns that are embossed off the table), but there are even more activities that are good for older kids, like learning the distinction between wants and needs, and balancing your activities to meet your budget goals. There was a film playing when we got there, which talked about the history of how the Fed came to KC, and although I didn’t get to watch all of it (my 4 year old was tired) I found it fascinating and informative. It’s fun to be able to take home a little bag of shredded, unfit currency too. Each visitor can take one bag, and it’s branded with the “billion dollar experience” logo. All in all, a very fun, free experience. Would highly recommend!

Just a quick 15 minute walk south from Union Station is this amazing museum! All about the Benjamins? Then this place is for you. After a quick check in at the door with security, you are quickly greeted by a plethora of different kiosks, all there to engage with you and teach you something you didnt know. From todays currency to the first American currency, you will be amazed at by the collection of everything US money. Its so cool my 6 year old was entertained and carried his free bag of shredded money around the whole time. Definitly worth a visit.

Where do I begin? This explains a thing or two about money....and then some. (Like yo dollas are actually part linen.)To me, one of the most impressive features/exhibits of the place, is the Truman Coin Collection on the wall first thing as you enter. Almost every coin ever minted, displayed by Presidential Administrations.A gold brick you can touch, and yes a Wall of Money. Millions upon millions....or nowadays, Racks on racks on racks, of CASH.Staring at it is like nothing Ive ever experienced. The building is a large, imposing, modern structure with a stunning glass lobby. The history will leave you looking, and feeling, differently about cold, hard, cash. The bag of free shredded counterfeit is a nice touch, too.Just do it.

Interesting place to learn about the Federal Reserve. Some hands on activities for kids. It was free and everyone could take a bag of shredded cash. Its a working reserve bank, so adults need IDs to get in and you have to go through a security check point. Free parking next to the bank. I thought it was ironic that the gift shop couldnt break my $100 bill. It was neat watching the workers handle huge amounts of cash near the vaults. We learned somethings and enjoyed our visit.

If you like money, this is the museum for you! But seriously, if you’re in Kansas City, looking for something to do, I highly recommend The Money Museum. You can get through it in about 45 minutes and you will see some really interesting things. From a solid gold bar to a 40 million dollar wall. Not to mention the cash vault where you get to see robots moving around loads of cold hard cash. The best part of this museum.... it’s free!Cha-Ching

Took my 2 kids ages 6&16 to the FREE money museum on the non guided tour. There were a lot of other kids there bc it was the summer so it was hard to take time and look throughly at some items. However there were plenty of things to see such as the 27lb gold brick, $100,000 bill, the vault that processes over $4 million dollars per day and has over a billion in storage. You can make your own dollar bill in a couple of ways. On your way out you can take a bag of shredded money.

It was very interesting to see all different types of coins, coins issued by presidents, Procedures they take for money among other things. It was educational and wonderful to learn while visiting KC. Best motivation was free admission which was a bonus from a long weekend trip we had all while trying to find some things to see in KC. I recommended visiting with school age kids or yourself if visiting for a quick learning experience. Tours are available there I believe at certain times we didn’t use one at the time. Would visit there again.

I work in a bank, so paper money usually isnt terribly interesting, but I thought this was a great experience, especially since admission is free. There are plenty of neat exhibits showing historical currency and giving details on how money is made and protected. Theres a lot of interactive stuff for kids to be engaged with, and enough artifacts and statistics to keep older kids and adults interested.

When you call yourself a museum for money youd better have lots of cash. The Fed delivers on that one. You see a multi-million dollar wall of bills (not all real though), a massive Truman coin collection back to Washington, an enormous shredder (of which you can take home a bag of greenback shreds), and a cavern of bank deposits managed by three robotic forklifts. Theres lots of history including machine guns, half a million dollars of a gold bar to lift, and interactive kids stations. One of my favorite KC s spots.

First, its absolutely free which rare now days! Sadly a majority of the touch screen were either slow, outdated, or didnt work properly which diminished my experience; other than that the museum was very unique and informative. The main attraction is definitely worth the visit and receiving a free souvenir isnt the worst thing either.

This is a small museum to take in at the federal reserve bank. Its free. The Truman coin collection is really something to see. Its arranged so that you can see which coins were in circulation during each presidents term. The best attraction here, though, is the automated trucks and cranes that move the money around inside the bank. Three trucks named Huey, Dewey, and Louis drive back and forth moving money from one place to the next. All automated. Its mesmerizing really. Totally worth the price of admission. And its free.

I enjoyed our visit. it was quite interesting. We went for homeschool week as part of the Family Tours. I was a little disappointed because it wasnt geared toward the younger kids at all. I heard that they have some neat things usually for the younger kids. So I wish the Family Tours could be geared a little more to the mixed ages. But it was interesting for us older folks & it was very convenient for parking. And free which is awesome.
