We love the zoo. We have a membership which is totally worth it for us since I stay home with kids. We go basically whenever its nice. They do a good job of sanitizing so we feel comfortable rising carousel and train and tram. Kids love all the exhibits, its spaced out enough we could spend almost all day there. The staff are always friendly and answer all our questions.

We took our son for his first zoo trip on 11-19, and had an absolute blast. We used our free trip postcard for myself, my husband, and our 1 year old. Super easy to register for a time and day online, and quick entry with the tickets available right on my phone. The pandemic regulations were completely reasonable and didnt take away from the experience at all. We did notice a lot of features & snack shops were closed, but that could have been due to the time of year as well. Our favorite part was the new polar bear, Nuniq!

I am NOT a zoo kinda person. They have just never been my thing. That said, the folks here did a great job of working around Covid to make it work. My 3 year old really enjoyed seeing so many animals that weve only seen in books. The staff was helpful when we needed assistance, and the folks working the train & trolley did a good job. We witnessed the staff spraying the train and trolley down after passengers exited, and they reminded the public to sport their masks for safety. There was plenty of reminders for masks when social distance was not available, via signs and ground painting/markers. Heads up, you MUST wear it around the leopard area.

I had a great time today with the family i saw a ton of animal in which i was not able to see at other zoos because of the way they have the animal exhibits set up. I will truly never forget this experience. Its very large and its also very very kid friendly with playgrounds and play areas throughout the entire zoo which is so nice for little kids. They also have a part where you can walk threw and there are loose Kangaroos every where its pretty intimidating and awsome at the same time! And theres also a tun of animals you can feed as well. There is a boat you can take and a sky ride you can ride to see the hole zoo as well as a train and a tram!

The zoo has figured this social distancing thing out! Yes, some of the more closed in exhibits and all of the playgrounds were still closed but my kids and I all had a FABULOUS time and its the first time we have stayed from opening to closing. Many of the animals were very relaxed and curious to see us and my kids lived every second of it.It felt so nice to do something normal again.

This is a great zoo. The best Ive ever experienced and Ive been to many zoos. Sooooo many animals and you can get really close, much closer than most zoos. The animal habitats are also ideal for the animals. Plan to take at least 4-5 hours if you want to see the whole zoo.

This zoo is huge! Wear your walking shoes. We did not even get to see everything. There’s a great variety of animals. Kind of disappointed in the snakes though; you could own almost all of them as pets (not very scary). The way you have to go about getting tickets is kind of annoying. They should sell tickets at the place where things are (ex: carousel tickets at the carousel).

We always have a very good experience when visiting the Kansas City Zoo! The associates are typically polite and very helpful and the keepers are very knowledgeable, and share that knowledge, on their subject matter. For the region it sadly seems KC Zoo gets overshadowed by Henry Doorly or St. Louis, which is a shame because KC Zoo has a lot to offer. It is very expansive, clean, and seems to have a new exhibit/area every year; the new penguin and stingray facilities are especially incredible.

Had a very nice time with my family. My grandkids enjoyed the experience. The Staff were very friendly, courteous and professional. They all followed the safety procedures and led by example. My only complaint is the admission price. I think $18 was just a bit much when they have no shows currently happening due to COVID 19. Although I definitely agree with the precautions they have in place, I think the price should be lowered based on that fact. Overall, we had a great day!!

I havent been here since I was a kid. Coming back 30-something years later to share this place with MY children was priceless! I relocated back here from LA and there is no place like home!! The animals have so much more space to roam (compared to the LA Zoo) I highly recommend spending extra for the tram and zip line tours (train, tram, and zip line $10 a person). Its better on back and feet; otherwise it is ALOT of walking. Its also nice that during this crazy time we can be out with the animals and our families... Just dont forget your masks!

Only been once this season and felt safe most places and that people were not getting too close. Not everything open but still was plenty to see. Online reservation and check in was quick and easy.Wish people would check the zoos website and their mask policy before complaining or writing a negative review. It only says mask have to be worn inside or when distancing not possible. It DOES NOT say mask have to be worn outside. Should people, yes, but it is just recommended, not required by their policy. When visited a majority of people were not wearing masks outside but didnt let it ruin our experience, just tried best to not get too close to anyone. Dont complain about it or that staff not enforcing it because there is nothing to enforce. If you are that worried about catching something you shouldnt be out in a possibly crowded place in the first place.Would have no problem or issue going back again.

Had a nice day at the zoo. Went on a week day, in the late morning, so not a lot of people. Wearing masks the entire time was NOT a problem. Fellow guests were very considerate about social distancing, which I appreciated. Anyone not wearing a mask while outside had one to put one when crossing paths with another guest. This zoo is average at best. I understand with COVID going on that exhibits will be closed. If that is the case, you should NOT charge $70 for a family of 4 to spend a day here. A sign was posted that no Giraffes would be on display, sting rays were closed, sea lion show closed, polar bears looked to be closed, no lions to see, and several other exhibits. Other reviews mentioned that this zoo is huge, but I didnt think it was, its just very spaced out with very few animals. After you see the elephants you will walk about 20 minutes before you see anything headed towards Africa. The penguin plaza is the best part of the zoo in my opinion. There were plenty of restrooms and resting areas throughout the zoo, and plenty of shade, but restaurants were pretty limited. All the zoo staff that we encountered were helpful and very courteous.

I love this zoo, always have. However on our group visit today we encountered a problem.I am a service dog handler, as are most of the people I go with as a group. This was our second group visit to the zoo, I have gone on at least 2 previous occasions with my own service dog, the first time while he was still in training. The difference with this visit was: they finally educated their staff on asking the 2 legal questions(is this a service animal required because of a disability? And what work or tasks has this animal been trained to perform?) it was wonderful to hear, as most businesses don’t even ask those questions, which can lead to people bringing their pets or emotional support animals into places they don’t belong under the guise of service animal. The issue we had, was them trying to deny a service dog in training. This dog has been to the zoo at least 3 times prior to today, and they let the team in “because they’ve been there before” which is all fine and dandy, but denying a service animal in training access is a state offense. The state of Missouri grants service dogs in training, being trained by their handler, the exact same rights given to service dogs by federal law. It does not have to be a dog in training through an organization in Missouri, that is Kansas law. Overall I was pleased with their education on service animals this time, but their lack of knowledge on service animals in training was absolutely appalling. Their attempt to deny caused a medical issue, to which said dog “in training” immediately responded to and did his job, right in front of the people trying to deny him. I truly hope the zoo will work on education in regards to service animals in training, especially after hearing from the discriminated handlers attorney and/or lawyers.

We visited here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and were very impressed. We didn’t have time to eat prior to going since we were coming from out of town, and we enjoyed eating at the zoo. They had vegetarian options like black bean burgers which happened to be the best we’ve had in a while. We did run into a problem where their were bees all over the trash cans, which apparently is something that happens this time of year. Management was very helpful and courteous and gave us a refund since my wife is severely allergic to bee stings, and we understood there is only so much they can do since bees are obviously apart of our ecosystem (Which we of course 100% agree with). We will definitely be back hopefully in either the winter months or early spring. The professionalism each employee displayed and most importantly management is why we really want to put that refund back into the KC Zoo.

Despite the requirement to purchase a timed ticket to enter the zoo, it is extremely crowded as the end time is not enforced. Because its November, much of Africa was quiet (too cold for all giraffes, most elephants). The tram is still the best option for getting to/from Africa in a socially-distanced way (walkways were very narrow and over-crowded). Although we recommend the tram, be prepared to wait 45-60 minutes for a ride (trams are only operating at 25-50% capacity). We were surprised how many people were in the park, still very crowded despite COVID. It is possible to still go and practice safe distancing, although most are not. We noticed that about 40-50% adults were wearing masks, despite signage urging the public to do so. Due to overcrowding and availability / liveliness of animals that were present, we were a little disappointed.
