I had the pleasure of dining at Chappells last night and enjoyed walking around the restaurant and recalling history.I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Kansas City area as it is a great place to celebrate watching your favorite sports team while rooting them on with a beverage. As I alluded to above, there is also a wealth of sports memorabilia and history to review.If you are hungry, I would encourage you to try the chicken fried chicken dinner on the menu as it is tasty and portioned appropriately.Again, I would recommend anybody in the Kansas City area visit this establishment. Its a hidden gem that very few cities get to enjoy.

Definitely the place for the sports nut in your life, Plenty of pics,trophies, and memorabilia from wall to wall, even on the ceiling. Food and service were great. Definitely a place to add on your must try places to eat when in kansas city.

Not bad considering this establishment does not offer a military discount. They do not support our troops.Friendly staff - has a lot of Kansas City sports history all over the restaurants. Including hundreds of football helmets hanging from the ceiling.Not to mention tons of MLB baseball memorabilia from many different teams can be found here as well. This is a must see for sports lovers.

Its a pretty cool place, if you loves sports and love the old kansas city feel, this is your place. So many trophys,memorabilia and stuff everywhere. Food is delicious , and staff was awesome. Definitely should be added to a list of restaurants you visit when you come to Kansas city.

I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed! I remember going years ago with a friend, and tonight my husband and I decided to give it a go! We were greeted with really friendly service which a nice change from other hosts. We got the onion rings and they were the best ones we’ve ever had! Perfectly fried golden and so delicious. For drinks we got the Chappels Apple and the Bicardi Cooler which were strong enough, not too watered down with ice, and delicious! I got the tenderloin and he got the London Broiler Wrap! Overall, great service, not too packed and great socially distanced.

Once upon a time I used to work near NKC and would occasionally come to Chappell’s, and would often bring visitors from out of town here to see the amazing memorabilia. Good to see after nearly a decade the place still is still kicking. We visited again for a quick bite. We were surprised at how empty it was at 8pm on a Friday night. It’s clear that covid continues to have a dramatic impact on local bars and restaurants. We had great service, the place is clean and the sports memorabilia is stunning. The buffalo wings were quite good, and the wife indicated her steak soup was nice. Next time will definitely try the tenderloin or burgers. Only knocks on this visit were an untidy restroom, and I am slightly annoyed by printing suggested gratuity on cc receipt.

I visited for the first time this week on Tuesday night. There werent a lot of people. The food was good but they delivered the wrong order and my husband had to ask for mayo for his burger after waiting for 5 minutes. He had asked for mayo and I guess the waiter forgot even though their were like 6 people in the whole restaurant? It was weird to tell you the truth.My daughter ordered chicken chicken quesadillas. They brought her steak quesadillas which I didnt realize was the wrong order until we paid for it. Thankfully my daughter didnt complain. I guess Im not their target customer. Like I said it was strange that the service was so bad although their was like 6 customers (including us) in the whole restaurant. My first and last visit.

We love this place! Friendly wait staff, great food! Each of us ordered different meals & all thoroughly enjoyed every last bite. We ate here after a school celebration, on a Thursday night.We were nervous that as soon as the karaoke began, it would no longer be a family-friendly environment. It was still only 8 oclock but it was a fun, family-appropriate atmosphere!

This restaurant has been around for many, many years. It is filled with sports memorabilia and I do mean filled. We learned that it sold about a year ago and were worried that the quality had changed. Yesterday, we stopped in during the early afternoon for a late lunch. We were greatly impressed with the service, food quality and found that nothing had changed. I had the fish tacos which were made with cod. I do not eat tilapia so that is the first question I ask. Hubby had the Cavatappi which is a fantastic combination of pasta, shrimp (lots on them), sausage, peppers and onions in a delicious cream sauce.

Place is clean and inviting. I had the fish and onion rings, fish was really good and seasoned really well, the onion rings was crispy just like they are suppose to be. Very good I will be back.

Im extremely glad I found this place while visiting. Any true sports fan absolutely MUST stop here if youre in the area or passing through. Delicious food, good beer, and very friendly staff. Mr. Chappell is also a man who knows things, so say hi if you get the chance!

Fantastic food. The mashed potatoes here are beyond amazing. Really enjoyed the fish and chips! Below are pics of fries, and mashed potatoes, also had a yummy quesadilla.The previous owner came over to say hi, very friendly gentlemen.

Overall good service. Jesse greeted us quickly and provided attentive service. Had a delicious combo platter (onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders). Had the California Club with curly fries, it was okay. Friend got a burger that was burnt on the bottom but cooked medium still. Not sure how they would’ve problem solved because she was too shy to request a new one.

The food was really good! I thought the portion for the chicken was a little small. The waitress could have been more prompt. Otherwise it was a decent dining experience!

I can’t believe I paid and extra $6.00 for extra shrimp and I still only got 6 pieces in my Cajun Shrimp Pasta.....Very disappointed.

The service was awesome! The food is never a disappointment. Their sandwiches are always excellent.

Love this place. The tenderloin sandwich is very good. A sports buff could spend hours checking out the amazing collection of memorabilia on display in this place. An icon of the Kc Northland, check it out! Highly recommended.

What a disappointment. I knew that the ownership had changed, and I wanted to see what it was like. Back in the day this was a go to place when I worked at the Downtown Airport. It was a great sports bar that served great food. Not so any more. I paid it a visit tonight and ordered the club sandwich. They served it without toasting the bread and worse yet, the bread did not taste fresh.Everything else on the sandwich was great. The turkey, bacon, and cheese were fresh a full of flavor, the lettuce crisp, the tomato fresh and juicy, and the spread had great flavor. If you want a great sandwich every component must be perfect. The bread was not. Ive never had a club sandwich where the bread wasnt toasted.I gave them a 3-star rating because the staff was attentive and friendly and the fact that the beer was cold, crisp and refreshing.

I went there for a meeting at work. The staff was very friendly and the food was very tasty. It is a great location and seems like a nice business. I had a chicken salad, the ranch was quality ranch and I also had their steak soup. 5/5 stars on everything.

I’ve literally never done a review for a restaurant before, but I really did not enjoy the food here at all. I ordered the grilled salmon and it was dry, over cooked, and didn’t look or taste like it had any seasoning at all. We ordered the ‘Irish Nachos’ which we both did not enjoy either. The only thing that wasn’t gross was the baked potato I got as a side, but that’s kind of hard to mess up. While the service was good and the sports memorabilia and atmosphere were cool, we won’t be coming back.

Always great food, sports nostalgia and ambiance galore

Excellent SUPERBOWL experience. Chappelle made it happen for us to get a table and took care of us in the best way and then sent a round of champagne to everyone after we claimed the victory. CHIEFS KINGDOM BABY

The food was pretty good and the service was good. I really enjoyed the sports memorabilia all around the restaurant. I do mean ALL around-walls, ceilings- even the restrooms. Im not a huge sports fan and I found it very interesting. The owners might consider a day of cleaning. Even the windows - the only thing not covered in memorabilia were dirty.

Had a pre-planned meal choice after a presentation on health concerns provided by presenter. There were two choices for entree and the none salad one I chose with chicken breast, green beans and a great large backed potato, that if it had been a loaded one, would have blew me away to potato heaven. Will visit Chappelles again another day were I can order freely, to get that famous fried, hand breaded pork tenderloin I loved but under the new management.

Valentines day disappointed! Cold steaks, with a huge gloppy of potatoes took up half of our plate, had to ask for silverware, wait on refills on drinks. Steak soup was awesome..

We went to Chappells for Snake Saturday. The staff at the front door were very nice and friendly. There was a small cover charge because of the festival that day but we were happy to pay. Order a few beer, the prices for bottle were very good. Got the tenderloin sandwich and fries. The sandwich was huge, perfectly fried and the seasoned fries were good. The bartenders were really nice. We had Chris and he was quick, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.

This place has had 3 different menus in the 2 years I’ve lived in NKC and all of them have been well below average. Decided to give them one last try tonight by ordering a couple of burgers (how can you mess up a burger?) and they were bland, dry and burnt. I don’t understand why this place struggles SO BAD with their kitchen.

The menu was disgusting. Covered in old drinks and food.Ordered the Pork AL Pastor Nachos and it didnt come with anything from the menu. No pastor, pineapple, Chipotle creme, or cotija cheese. Correction, it did have cilantro and chips. It also had corn which was strange since it wasnt listed as an topping and a bland cheese mix, Id assume monterrey jack.Sent it back, no apologies or explanations from the restaurant, and got the chicken strips. The strips tasted ok but were meager for the menu price.Will not go again.

Very slow service and is Not busy. Mine came out wrong. His was cold. Sooo disappointed!Waiter said they discount my meal. Then sha said the manager will be out to talk to us. Nothing happened.

Food was good. Service was a little slow and they didnt give me a fork. Also not a lot of vegetarian options and they served chicken on my salad when I didnt ask for it, whoops.

Good little place in North Kansas City.

Went there today to grab a burger with my husband, and it was closed. It was after 11am and no one was there. We made a reservation, for there was no mentioning of the place being closed. No sign on the door, nothing on the website. Went to Jefferson’s instead, they have better burgers and fries.

Really nice old school sports bar. Food was good. We had the tenderloin and steak sandwiches. Tenderloin came with fresh horseradish which was a surprise. Steak wrap was cooked perfectly. Service was great with genuine attention to our requests. Found an old school UCF football helmet which I have never seen outside of Florida.

The food and service were decent, our orders were correct. When we walked in for dinner there was a strong odor of natural gas or propane, or maybe something worse.

Visited from out of town and this place is amazing. Great atmosphere, great food and great live music.

Was giving this place a second chance after a horrible experience (the place looked awful, the food as bad, service not great) shorty after Jim sold it. well its off my list. went at 12 on Sunday and the place was locked up. website said open at 11. I feel really bad that this is the legacy of a once amazing restaurant. I sincerely hope thus place gets it together, there are so few restaurants in NKC.

Ive never felt so robbed in my life. went in for dinner and the moment we walked in we were told its just a brunch buffet tonight. ok we can roll with that. then the Buffet wasnt more than waffles, stale biscuits, old pasta, some fruit and tacos. you could tell it had been sitting out a while and the biscuit was rock hard I couldnt even eat it. went to pay and for just my husband and I it was 40 bucks!!! I used to love going there but after that awful food and ridiculous price I dont think I can ever go back.

Chappell’s seems to have had that up and down swing for over a decade. Been coming here since high school. In the past few years it’s been going down and with my most recent trip, I cannot recommend.

Went there Friday evening. Ari was very welcoming the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was excellent for our group of 7. Jeff was our waiter and was amazing. Never wrote down a single thing and got every right. The food was great. I even got food sauce on my sleeve and before I could say anything Jeff walked by and said I got you covered all of a sudden someone showed up with selzer water on a towel and saved my shirt from a bad stain. Absolutely LOVE this place. Thank you Ari and Thank you Jeff

Weve always enjoyed Chappells as a fun family restaurant. The furniture was always a little beat up but the great food and service outweighed the dated decor. Sadly, now that they are under new management, we were disappointed. Service was very slow and they seemed understaffed. No more curly fries, new fries were tasteless and not crispy, and not seasoned as we were told. We ordered two adult meals, an appetizer, and a kids meal and with tip it was $50! We didnt even get drinks! Hummus plate had literally 5 little triangles of pita bread. Burgers were good but other meals not, and everything WAY overpriced. If new owners want to survive in NKC they will have to make a lot of changes before regulars make this a regular stop again.

Amazing place for the college and professional sport nut

It is under new ownership and was just awful. The service was terrible, the soup was lukewarm and clearly canned, and the atmosphere isnt the same at all with half of the memorabilia gone. Dont bother.

Dont order the Baja fish tacos they do NOT have mango salsa, unlike the menu states. Our waitress said they were her favorite thing to order. They didnt hardly have any flavor at all. Very disappointed.Our waitress went on to tell us, there a lot of things on the menu that they cannot make in house...so...yeah. Do better please.
