Great place for a visit. This week military is free because of veterans day next week so any vets should check it out if they can. Clean, well organized, friendly staff. The videos were very well narrated and the galleries well well spaced out for comfort. The city view at the top of the museum was a nice way to end the tour and they have two seperate galleries although small, on that level. I think the paintings were very beautiful. Go alone or with a small group and enjoy a few hours learning about WWI.

This is an amazing museum in a very accessible location. Even before you get inside the museum, you have beautiful views and picnic areas to enjoy. The museum itself is large and has A LOT of stuff, each interesting. It progressively navigates you through the war and you get to see everything, as close as one can be without physically touching the pieces. Every facet of the war has its exhibit, though some not as large as others (for example, the Middle Eastern front). The museum recognizes this and promotes every front when possible. There are two other exhibits by the tower that you get access to with admission that have really amazing artifacts, tons of them local. I would highly recommend to check them out as some of the pieces they have are incredibly unique (including a portion of the worlds largest painting!)Lastly, the staff there are great and just eager with excitement to educate you. For example, they pointed out Truman to us in some of the photos!Overall, this should be a must-stop if you have any interest in history and compassion for humanity.

Very moving museum for anyone interested in “The Great War.” One of, if not the only, WWI museums in the country, it did a great job of explaining the European political climate leading up to 1914 and how the war escalated from a single assassination to a world war in the span of less than a month. The museum has tons of weapons, munitions, and several vehicles from the war, and documents the grim realities of trench warfare. My wife and I both felt like we learned a lot and while there was a lot of information to read and absorb (we spent about 3 hours there), we didn’t feel overwhelmed. The memorial space outside/above the museum is both impressive and beautiful, and gives you amazing views of downtown Kansas City.

The National World War I Museum and Memorial of the United States is located in Kansas City,Missouri. Opened to the public as the Liberty Memorial museum in 1926, it was designated in 2004 by the United States Congress as Americas official museum dedicated to World War I. The Museum and Memorial are managed by a non-profit organization in cooperation with the Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners. The museum reopened to the public in December 2006 with an expanded, award-winning facility to exhibit an artifact collection that began in 1920. The National World War I Museum tells the story of the Great War and related global events from their origins before 1914 through the 1918 armistice and 1919 Paris Peace Conference. Visitors enter the exhibit space within the 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m2) facility across a glass bridge above a field of 9,000 red poppies, each one representing 1,000 combatant deaths.

Amazing displays, both new and original, that contain dynamic multimedia elements, normally interactive (outside of coronavirus restrictions) and are well later out and well written. Contains the best explanation of the geopolitical environments that led to the start of the war and why each of the major powers chose their respective sides. Very well worth the admission fee. You will need 4 to 5 hours to view all displays in detail. Volunteers are knowledge and friendly. New logo stands for the Crossroads District which funded the renovation, symbolizing the interstates, highways, railroads, river barges, and downtown airport that all meet here.

I visited in June 2019. I found the National WWI Museum to be a great resource into our collective past about that terrible conflict. Full of well preserved artifacts and historical stories tied to them. The monuments were profound and thought provoking. However, I had expected reflections and tribute to all our heroes from that conflict. I did not see and please correct me if Im wrong, but no mention or exhibits dedicated to Eugene Ballard or the Harlem Hellfighters. Their collective sacrifice deserves to be remembered and never forgotten. If I somehow missed them in the museum my apologies and I will promptly change my rating. If they are not represented then we have to do. ALL American heroes deserve to be remembered.Semper Fidelis
