One of my faves - great atmosphere and barbecue. The onion rings, battered fries, and Big Walter’s Mixed Meat Sandwich were exceptional at good prices. Parking lot could use some repaving, though.

Went there for take out.I order on line. The food was ready quickly! Nice and hot. I wanted to try there red beans and rice. It was so good! The food was Great! and the staff was very friendly! Were not ready to eat in restaurants yet! Differently going to order again!

Ive wanted to eat here since i first watched it on food network. Finally ate BBs tonight and it was AMAZING! The food was outstanding. The portions were massive so make sure to bring your appetite! The service was great, too. Our server kept our drinks full and made sure we were well taken care of. I would rate this place a 5/5 based off service alone. The food just made it better!

Fun little BBQ joint on south side of KC. Met some friends here while traveling through Kansas City for BBQ and Blues. Very fun time sitting outside (bring your lawn chair) and enjoying the music. First time for us here and had a combo platter with Brisket and burnt ends. Everything was very delicious.

Ive been eating at BBs for over a decade, and its always great. The barbecue is always perfectly smoked - but the hidden gem is the Jambalaya. Sometimes Ill just get a bowl for lunch, or a cup with my Q. The atmosphere is great, as well - the place is in a vintage roadhouse that used to be a Mob owned joint back in the 50s. Still one of the most prolific live music venues in Kansas City!

Stopped in for the first time today to celebrate my birthday. Victoria and Barbara were GREAT!! Service and food were outstanding! You have to try the B B Kings combo, ribs, sausage, added brisket and pulled pork, beans and skillet fries. Wow, what great BBQ!! My wife had the beef burnt ends with beans and potato salad, all wonderful, especially the burnt ends that were very tender. Have enough left overs for all of next week!

Just ate here on my first trip to KC, got a suggestion from a friend on Facebook to eat here and it exceeded expectations. Barbara was exactly how a bbq and blues host should be, (which was amazing!) we felt right at home and loved the food, we will be back next time through KC!

Really good BBQ. We ordered the king combo and we shared between 2 people and we still have leftovers. The bread pudding is really good. Very friendly staff and has live music weekends.

The bread pudding was delicious, but pricey. My to-go order didnt take long to prepare, friendly service. Great atmosphere and I believe they have entertainment Friday night. The brisket was the best for me but I didnt care for the beans. Lots of parking and it looks like they can handle large groups. Sauce is sweet and tangy and a little thin/runny.

What amazing service! Very fast service, had my food within five minutes of ordering. Trevor is the best! They said the burnt ends were their best item on the menu, honestly though Ive had better burnt ends at a couple different local BBQ places. The beans were delicious and the fries were very good as well. But the bread pudding was the best bread pudding I have ever had in my life, the perfect combination of soft and chewy and melt in your mouth with raisins.

Got the Big Walters Mixed Meat sandwich to go. 6 meats smothered in sauce with some battered and deep fried potato wedges. The sandwich is physically incapable of being eaten without a fork, which is the only complaint I have about the sandwich.Being able to sample all the meats is such an excellent way to be introduced to a restaurant for the first time! Ill be getting the smoked sausage by itself sometime in the near future. Fries were a little starchy but very crispy on the outside. Hot BBQ sauce was used to dip them in, and I wish it was a little less thin, but flavor was overall good.Would love to stay and listen to some live music next time!

Great BBQ! Had the rib snacks and they were amazing. My husband had the burnt ends dinner and said he’d never had BBQ that was so tasty and tender. Stayed for some local blues and that was really fun! Parking lot live music on a beautiful Saturday night! We’ll definitely be back.

I celebrated my PhD earlier this evening in this delicious restaurant. Well we enjoyed a awesome evening and the restaurant was undoubtedly the reason for this outstanding event. The stuff cooperated in a pleasant way, the cuisine was extremely good and my friends were so thrilled. We shall surely return for more joyful events. thanks very much.

So good! Such friendly service! Fresh, delicious, reasonable. Looks like a roadhouse for blues (it is) and serves up some great barbeque. Highly recommended. Well be back to try the Louisiana specialties, too.

Visiting from Texas and ate here tonight with family. You could tell be the smell in the parking lot that the food was going to be good. I had the burnt ends plate. Best burnt ends I’ve had! The beans were very flavorful as well. Place was very busy but the wait wasn’t too bad. Great place for BBQ.

Best baked beans Ive ever had. Ribs were great, burnt ends were good. The fries werent my cup fo tea but they were good. Really liked the sauce. Would recommend.

B.B.s is one of my favorite places to go when visiting KC. They have a laid back relaxed atmosphere. From the moment you pull up you are transported into juke joint that dives back to a better time. Friendly genuine customer service from real down to earth people who want to share this gems unique personality and experience.Definitely a must.

Whenever we are in KC we try different BBQ restaurants​; this makes the list as one we will definitely go back to. The hubs had the burnt ends (brisket) and I had rib tips. Two great dishes. Tender, flavorful, just the right amount of smoke. Small dine in area but did offer a covered outdoor space as well. We were there in a Saturday night around 5:30 pm. We didnt realize they were having live music that night. We were able to get seated fairly quickly before the crowd arrived for the show. The decor was interesting, several things to look at. Fun atmosphere.

Even the pandemic cant keep them down. Live music great food what a great time!

My husband and I visited this spot after finding it online. It was amazing! It is hard to find a BBQ spot that not only has great flavor in their meats but the sides were just as good! I had the beef and brisket mixed meatloaf and the flavor was just awesome, not too overpowering with smoke and the seasoning was just right not too salty, the side were just as good. My husband had the burnt ends which were off the chain! Very juicy and again great flavor, the baked beans were oh my delish. The price was also fair, it was not an arm and a leg like some BBQ joints. I would definitely recommend this place and would return when we visit!!!

Fantastic food at very reasonable prices. We interacted with several of the staff and they were all friendly and welcoming. Even the music was tasteful not to loud that you could not hear people talking but enough to get your foot tapping. We will make sure to stop by next time we are in the area.

Authentic but a little sweet for my taste but Im not normal.

Great, attentive customer service, and the food was delicious. Serving size was generous. My BBQ Sundae was something different and delicious. The combo of beans topped with coleslaw was surprisingly delicious. The pork was the cherry on the top.

Wanted to try a new BBQ joint. Its Louisiana style BBQ. This, apparently, means that its extra sweet. I enjoyed my ribs and potato wedges. Nothing really to complain about there. I did not like the beans, but this is a personal preference and not because they were made poorly. I do not like really sweet beans. If you like sweet, youll love them. I could tell that they were well prepared and seasoned.. Just not my style.I also had the Jalapeño margarita. It had a great flavor with a little smokiness, but I wish it had more of a spicy kick to it. I like spicy.They have live music in evenings, but did not get to be there for that. I think it would be a great time with good food.You should try the BBQ here, just know the style before you go. Im glad I had my experience with this style, but Im not necessarily keen to it. Again, its my preference and not a problem with the establishment.

The main reason I like going to BBs is their music! Its always great to see Blues legends rock the house, but getting to see Nick Schnebelen Band play an outdoor concert to the patrons in the parking lot was outstanding!My least favorite part of BBs is their food. It just doesnt hit my palette the same way as other KC BBQ legends do. I got the chicken this time, and it came across as bland and lacking flavor. Usually, you can get a good smoky taste in chicken, but for some reason, mine just came across as a heated up chicken, not BBQd. I do like their very unique beans, as they seem to mix apples and beans into a sweeter sauce, and that was pretty good!I think 3 stars is fair considering how little Ive enjoyed their food (eaten there probably 10 times in 25 years), BUT the music is astonishing! Dont miss a chance to see the artists that play there, but maybe keep your expectations for the food a little lower.

Seems bbq in KC has some favorites, then there are those joints that have 1 specialty they excel in. BBs Lawnside should be praised for their Burnt Ends. They were perfection. Tender. Flavorful. The rest of our sample platter was good, not overwhelming great, but good food.

I hate to do this but I have to. Our server was really nice and took good care of us. The real problem was the food! We had burnt ends that tasted bad. I don’t mean like bad BBQ but bad as in tasted like food poisoning. When we mentioned it, one of the managers (?) said that it could’ve been because of the hot weather, the pit got too hot. That was what caused the foul taste and odor. Listen, I know bbq. If the pit got too hot, the meat would’ve been dry. This meat was BAD! So they sent us out a 2nd batch (“pulling it off the pit now”). My guess is they microwaved the same batch we had. Now the foul taste and odor was still there only on hotter meat. They didn’t charge us for the dinners and that was fine. Unfortunately, I’ll never be back.

Ribs were great....sausage was great.....brisket was great.....beans were great......fries were unlike anything Ive ever had and they were great.....service was great! I highly reccomend checking out B.B.s if you get the chance!

Cool staff. Only reason its not 5 stars is because I have had several short ends from there. All were great except for this late time. It was really small and kinda dry. But hey you cant win them all. Great place overall.

I stop by here when I am heading home from the Plaza. Today Great Blues local players. A great group of people who stop by and enjoy the various sessions and all are enjoying Life! Join them and enjoy live music, blues, jazz, or cover songs. Great food, locals and visitors. My favorites are the terrific Chili, Soup and 1/2 sandwich, ribs,.... say hello to Lindsey the owner. Great place to warm up, listen and dream of the memories music provides. Fun.

Good but small parking lot but crowded with people

I went there on a Sunday for carry out, I got the combo appetizer and bread pudding, worst bar be que ever. The smoked rib tips were tough and chewy and had no favor, the potatoes were over cooked and dry there was no sauce on anything and the bread pudding was so tough I had to get a knife to cut it and they didnt give me any utensils to eat with or any sauce to put on all that dry favorless food. I will never go back there again and waste my money on them. That food was so bad I tossed it, Im never going back there again.

Come here for the music, the roadhouse feel, the gumbo, the beans and rice, the jambalaya. But dont compete for the Q. Ribs are on the dry side, pulled pork is greasy. The sausage is good. Service is great. Music is loud, so conversation is very limited.

The location was cool, staff were nice, and music was great but the bbq was a bit too dry for us.

Food was very good. Bloody Mary was excellent. I thing about getting beer until I realized their bloody Mary mix mix was exclusive to their establishment. Im glad I did because it was amazing. I thought the decor was awesome, great atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I will be back.

Food was delicious, we had the meatloaf meal. The live music was great, though a little loud- couldnt talk to friends while it was going on. Next time Ill make sure to check the schedule so I can make an informed decision. Sometimes I enjoy dinner and a show. Other times I want to enjoy the company of friends with the music in the background and I will go elsewhere those nights. Highly recommend otherwise!

Hip roadhouse atmosphere with fantastic music. BBQ served up casually, the meat loaf was fantastic, beans and green beans delish, nice margarita, great friends and service. Angela was the best! She had great advice on dishes to try and was extremely personable!

This is the Kansas City experience you want. Whether you live here or you are visiting, B.B.s never disappoints! Down home BBQ and blues in a laid back atmosphere. If you havent been here, treat yourself!

Not sure of it was the time or the day but it was just ok bbq. I went there on a Friday lunch. The staff was nice and helpful but food was just ok and quantity wise smaller. I ordered Big Walters mix meat and it was not appealing nor taste as good as it sounds. Kansas City is known for its bbq so I guess things could be better. I will give it another try one of this days and update my review here.

I have been driving by BBs for years ( yeah i know slow learner). The food was awesome and was way to much to eat in one sitting. It was reasonably priced also. Cool atmosphere.

Just barely ok. Had burnt ends with green beans, potato wedges and some baked beans, supposed to be smoked for 10+ hours but none of us tasted smoked meat. The ham in the green beans wasnt skimped on, but lacked much in the way of flavor and was strangely topped with parmesan(not a good flavor combo). The potatoes are dipped in a strange batter with parmesan cheese(such an odd/not pleasing flavor) and the baked beans just so so. None of the meal items were worthy of eating more than a taste or two.$20/plate is steep for what you get. We had stomach aches the whole night after eating here. Very disappointing, we only came because a coworker suggested it. Bad part of town, disappointing & expensive food. Only positive was the decor...loved the decor.

Rib tips were great, nice meaty and well seasoned and smoked. The four piece Band Blue Orleans was even Greater very talented Sax/flute/clarinet player, at one point he played sax and clarinet simultaneously. The drummer cut loose on a solid solo, Buddy (only female in the group) very good singer along with her scrub board, tambourine, percussions and other sound effects. The two guitarists played amd sang well also. I truly enjoyed my visit. Will definitely return...

Saturday afternoon at BBs what a pleasant surprise. My wife and I stopped by for some BBQ. We didnt know we would be in for a musical treat too.First things first, the food was delicious. We had a combo plate with breaded steak fries that tickled our tastebuds. Spicy Italian sausage, tender ribs, pulled pork,burnt ends, Cole slaw baked beans all washed down with some KCBier Dunkle. Way more than the sandwich we thought about when we started out!Then the band fired up. It turns out Saturday afternoon is jam session time. Audience participation is encouraged and appreciated. What started out as a quick bite to eat turned into an afternoon of music food and drink. What a fun time.

Good service; it seemed pretty busy so we were ready wait. Ordered an app since we thought it’d be a while and it was quick and ten minutes later our main course was there! The sauce was different... good flavor, but it was a thin sauce. And the ribs came of the bone without much effort.Nice place to enjoy some music, I think prefer listening to it outside since it is so loud.

My husband and I loved it we drove from DesMoines Iowa to eat the famous rib tips. People so friendly. Dam good music. And we took some home and very good price. Intertainment food drink. Very good price.

The atmosphere is great. The right level of blues music playing. Very friendly staff. I definitely suggest the hickory smoked meat platter for first time visit because you can get a good sampling of the meats they provide and a couple of sides to boot. Battered fried and beans is good, but so are the skillet fries.

This is a very special place for my family. Generations have shared music, amazing bbq and happiness here. The food is the best, everytime, the music takes is the best in Kansas city, and the people become family very quickly.

Stopped here because of Diners, Drive Ins and dives. Had the Burnt Ends.....they did NOT disappoint! Delicious. Their spicy BBq sauce is amazing. A lil sweet heat for ya!
