This is a nice clean pet store. They have a nice selection of stuff including a few birds and small animals. They have a really nice selection of aquarium products. They have a whole room dedicated to fish. The tanks in that room are always nice and clean and the fish generally looks very healthy. That competitive prices to other places around Kansas City as far as I can tell. Also always very helpful staff working.

Id give six stars if I could. All the animals looked great, all the fishtanks were crystal clear, and there was NOT ONE single sick-looking fish in ANY of their tanks-- extremely hard to find even in the best pet stores. Even though they were super busy yesterday when I went, the staff here went out of their way to offer top-notch customer service. My friend and I were offered help by every single employee we passed. I wish Id gotten the name of the gentleman who helped me in the aquatics department-- he was very busy, but still took the time to chat with me individually. I was looking for high-nutrient low-light plants for a setup with albino animals. He steered me in the right direction, taught me that red-pigmented plants usually require high light, and set me up with a super pretty plant that is settling in nicely at home. They were sold out of java moss but he even hooked me up with a little bit from their display tank-- SO cool of him to do! He managed to upsell me on a better quality water conditioner than I had been using and Im much happier with it than I was with the cheapo stuff Id been doing before. My cat LOVED the dried salmon skin treats. Love love LOVE this store. Next time Im in KC I am definitely going back.

If you are looking for a quality pet store in the KCMO area, look no further than Petopia. This is by far the most knowledgeable pet store in Kansas City.To my fellow reptile owners/lovers, let me say that this pet store actually has proper equipment and care for their exotics. I have NEVER seen a local pet store with decent as enclosures as Petopia offers to their reptiles. No sand, no nightlights, no dirty enclosures. Humidity for the species that need it, a nice layer of natural substrate, LOADS of enrichment. They have proven that these arent just animals, these are companions.Feeders are inexpensive, the reptile supplies are as well. Overall, I would highly recommend this location.Thank you for putting a good step forward with selling reptiles.

We were greeted at the door by an employee who was on his way in. He opened the door for us and asked if he could help us with anything. We had been searching for a ferret for a while and called to find out they had 2. We told him what we were looking for and he walked us over to the ferrets, got them both out and told us what he knew about them. We have had ferrets before but he took time to educate us and answers any questions we had. He showed us all the supplies we needed. He also got us signed up for the rewards plan. You earn store credit for each dollar you spend. For every $10 you spend you also get a raffle ticket for a weekly drawing for a gift card to the store.The store was very clean and all the animals looked to be well taken care of. There was a macaw that they had on a stand behind the counter. I thought that was great to see a big bird out of the cage and just hanging out with people. Those birds need a lot of attention and that is exactly what he was getting.Great pet shop! We will be back, its well worth the drive there.

Prices are to be expected with a smaller company, but I dont mind price when quality and variety are this good. Only pet store Ive found that carries most of Seachem products and at a decent price. Also wonderful variety(including size) in freshwater and saltwater animals that are cared for well.

Blows away in every aspect my local store(In the Reefs/St. Joseph, MO.). I bought a tank of 125 and it was as was as smooth as buying a 10 gallon. Been going there off and on for two years to window shop and bit the bullet on a purchase. In the Reefs did not back my purchase(Marineland Monterrey 150 Combo)because of Marineland’s continued defects. So I went with what I’ve been going to for forty years(Aqueon). Spectrum Brands/Marineland had to cut me a check because of In the Reefs. The owner/manager and associate were extremely nice and the trip was worth the one hour drive. Once I get the tank up and running I’ll be back!

This place is simply amazing. If your looking for the best, look no further. The staff is highly knowledgeable about everything they sell and if your looking to buy a tank, talk to Craig. Craig is highly knowledgeable and overall a wonderful man to do business with. Hell educate you on any and everything you need to know from setup to adding fish. Yeah, they might be a tad pricier than the big box stores but its worth it when you know youll be taken care of from start to finish. Love you guys! My kids love looking at the parrot, fish, turtles, snakes, chameleons, etc. The workers are so kind! Somewhere between the store and the car I lost the cat flea drops that I had just bought and a worker came out and brought me another one. ️

This is a nice local fish store. Most of the time everyone is very nice. There are times when if they are stocking items they are so helpful. I have to go to them for questions. But the store is always clean, the aquariums look good. The fish seem happy and healthy.

Corral selection is awesome and well rounded.Unfortunately we noticed some fish with ick and very naively bought fish (from different tanks) surprise surprise the one fish not hiding right now has ick. Hoping we don’t lose all the fish in the tank over it. These two fish are the only new additions to the tank. There is absolutely no doubt where it came from.Pretty disappointed looking into the reviews and responses where the owner felt petty enough to correct the grammar on a bad review. This was our favorite store and we drove 35 minutes out of our way to visit there. It’s a sad day.

This pet store is top quality. They have so many unique animals that I havent seen before at other shops. So many cool fish. I loved playing with the guinea pigs. They also have a big variety of food and treats that our picky dog loved. We also got a CBD honey stick to try out with our dog and she seemed to like it and it calmed her down.

We spent over $50 on fish within 10 days all five fish died and also infected our other fish. 13 fish total dead! We took dead fish and water they tested it and told us water was fine. So It had to be the fish they said they would give us a discount on new fish but we very rude and not helpful at all. We left without getting any fish.. THEY can keep there diseased fish!! Petco down the road from there has much cleaner tanks..Reply.. I did not empty my tank, I had existing fish several months before I purchased new fish from your store you tested my water and said it was just fine..The fish from your store were diseased I also remember you hard to forget someone with no since of professionalism and as far as calling me a hobbyist you are wrong I have had aquariums for 40 yrs!! Just admit that your fish were sick and refund my money.. I also noticed that the tank our fish came out of was empty... hum did they all die?

I LOVE PET-TOPIA! I have been a customer since they opened. I am always amazed with their knowledge and willingness to share. They never try to oversell but will point out what you might need to complete a project. The staff is amazing! The new store is amazing and well stocked. Never overpriced compared with name brand stores. If you are looking for pet supplies or general help with a pet project, this is the place to go!

Friendly staff, good variety of pets and pet related things to choose from. The prices seemed fair, but not much selection for live aquarium plants. Their salt and freshwater tanks were sparse and didnt seem as clean as they could be. Standard betta fare, which means the live in tiny cups and the same shelf has small bowls for purchase, which isnt enough space for the little guys. Bought a marimo moss ball and a dog treat for the fur baby, but Ill probably go elsewhere for my aquarium and dog needs in the future.

Has to be the best salt water collection north of the river. Staff is very helpful, and all around great pet store for all you needs.

Im not a huge fan of pet stores, but as they go this was a pretty welcome stop on our quest to examine options for some small pet additions to our family. What I like most about places like these are the variety they offer and how they seem to legitimately care about the animals they have. I found them to be way more knowledgable then the staff at the big name stores and the fact that they arent just trying to sell merchandise was a huge plus in my book.

They taken in pets such as fish and more. If s fish owner fish gets to big they will take them in. Love this place and wife and I always go here for our pet needs.

Love going to Pet Topia with the kids as they never want to leave. I appreciate how the owner always has giveaways or free food for their customers (which sadly Ive never been to when they do lol). The staff is friendly. The only thing is sometimes the place feels icky. Sometimes the fish are sick or I would see that almost every tank has more than one dead fish. I hope they find someone who is passionate about taking care of the tanks and knows what theyre doing.

They have an awesome selection of fresh water and salt water fish. Their saltwater tank when you first walk in is so awesome, worth a trip there just to see it. They have ferrets and bunnies and all kinds of stuff for any pet you have.

We easily spent over two hours here, looking at everything from leopard tortoises to moray eels. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable without being over bearing. My kids earn a trip to the fancy pet store when they have a good week at school, this is our new spot! They had an alligator gar. They had seahorses! Koi fish, coral, living rock...everything you need, several things you want. Go look.

Chris, owner of Petopia, former owner of the Fishtopia store is very dishonest and very corrupt. He destroyed our 300 gallon saltwater fish tank. After his employee Robert quit, Chris came to maintain it himself. He always had an excuse and when he did finally show up, Chris destroyed our tank and charged us thousands of dollars leading us to believe that he was doing a great job. Chris said his employee did not provide for us and he was going to get it up and running like it was supposed to be. After a couple months, Chris quit coming with no notification that he was no longer going to be maintaining our aquarium. Chris needs to stick to cat and dog food only. He has no clue regarding saltwater fish tanks. Don’t let him fool you, we are very disappointed with Chris and the way he treated us and our tank.

Good selection of both fresh and salt water fish. They post their new arrivals before the weekend. I went in on a Sunday and they were wiped out pretty good on fish so that speaks volumes on their turn over/popularity. A guy there apologized for them being out of a lot of stuff and said he can order me in what I wanted to take care if me. Nice place to shop!

I moved back to KC last year and this is the only pet store in the metro area where I can find black worms for my axolotls. They have a great selection of fish saltwater and fresh water. The wide variety of animals both aquatic and land that arent found in many pet stores is always a treat as well. They have a great selection of product for all animals, and the staff is always friendly. Its well worth the 30 minute drive from Lenexa.
