Beautiful building from the 1920s. Such a wonderful era in architechture. Elvis played a couple of legendary shows here in 1956, amongst his first solo headlining shows. The city issued a warrant on Elviss arrest if he was to go forward with his inappropriate bodily movements during his performance. It feels like this was defining moment for the venue and the whole town actually. Everywhere theres Elvis memorabilia.

The Florida Theatre is always a beautiful venue. It is currently decorated for the holidays. I was disappointed with the Christmas concert by Home Free. I paid for a Christmas concert, but they performed only seven holiday songs in two hours. The rest was their normal concert. Very disappointed with the lack of Christmas in the concert (including lighting and wardrobe choices).

The absolute best venue in North East Florida to see a concert. There is plenty of parking. Easy entry from the front and side doors. However what makes this place stand out among others is the acoustics.Even if a performer is not high on my list to see I am interested in attending if they are performing here.

I thoroughly enjoy the Abba Mania show at the Florida theater. Besides the show it was really interesting to see the architecture of this building. It reminded me of the movie theaters when I was growing up right down to the seats. If nothing else you really should go out and check out the building. With it being an older building it really isnt too handicap friendly. I would go to the Florida theater again to see a show.

The entertainment where fine, but; too enter the theater was so discombobulated, know matter which level of seating,, there were stairs to climb. The first couple of rows of seating has some kind of structure blocking your view, stage or railings. In the lobby you dont know if youre standing in the line for the rest room or the concession stand.

Great place great view from the highest balcony they have. Air-conditioning gets five stars - you know in Florida you must have a five star air conditioner in a venue. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars because the seats are not made for grown-ups - very narrow seats and small seats. There are more comfortable seats/leg room on budget airlines. Also no ATM in the building, come prepared.

Start with beautiful, historic interior and great performances. With that out of the way, hopefully you are under 5’6 to fit comfortable into these seats. Also, you will want to be under 150 lbs. for any chance of comfortably walking through seating aisles of going into a restroom stall. Also, when seated, you will have a great view, provided you have x-ray vision to see through the person’s head in front of you. The antique seating arrangement is from the time when stadium seating was a novel idea. I will not be back until this place receives a major facelift. Stay away!

Beautiful inside! Great sound quality. Purchased tickets via ticket master and they were insanely marked up and then the seats on our printed ticket were not what we paid. Although ticketmaster screwed that up the theatre dis their best to correct it. My suggestion would be to purchase tickets straight from the theatre. Beautiful venue!

Ive been to a number of concerts and events at the Florida Theatre, and almost all have been terrific. (Probably best have been both Weird Al concerts!) Whos Live Anyway was funny, but just about should have had an explicit warning for language. It contained what I thought was an excessive amount of really quite unnecessary profanity (WAY too many F-bombs!). For me, it very much detracted from the show. Anyway, the Florida Theatre itself is a very nice venue. Its pretty crowded in the lobby and bathrooms (though theres only so much they can do about that in such an old building, and still keep the beauty and charm of such an historic place), but the theater itself is downright majestic. A beautiful place to go to a concert, and a feather in Jacksonville s cap!

Saw the Wild Kratts Live and it was great! My daughter loves them! As far as the theater, in my own personal opinion, they need to cater more to children when a show is playing for kids. They didnt have much at all in the way of snacks and drinks for the kids and were selling alcohol at a show for children. Pretty distasteful if you ask me. Up your game guys. You probably would of made more money for the theater if you would have been actually thinking about the children who were there to see a childrens live show. The Wild Kratts were Awesome!!!

At the event I went to it was dimly lit. Its a historical theatre, therefore, some of the beautiful architecture seemed to be depleting. The stairs to go to the upper balconies were steep, and the chairs were very small. Other larger people were having trouble fitting into them. At the enterance everyone was being frisked, scanned with a wand, and bag searched. It seemed like over kill for a 9 O clock arts awards ceremony. Alcohol was being served though, and 9am for $12 average price.

Charming venue. The details in the architecture are amazing. But if youre going there to see a show, then things like the seats matter, too. There is little to no legroom for a six-footer like me. And the visibility is reduced as you go back into the balcony (the first four rows of the balcony are called the loge, but its all balcony.)

Gorgeous building! I didnt have any unexpected fees for anything. The Florida Theatre website informs that there are parking garages and gives you the prices/ price ranges and their distance from the theatre for each one. We went to see Aaron Lewis, one of my all time favorite artists! The show was amazing, except everyone sitting in the rows in front of us (all 49 rows) wouldnt stay seated. They kept getting up and down, usually 5 or more people would leave a row to get a drink, theyd come back, then another group of 4 would get up and all leave to get their drinks...it was an on going thing without a break from start to finish. And you know when one person has to leave a row, then everyone else in that row needs to stand up to let them out. This made for my experience a little unpleasant. I couldnt enjoy or even see most of the show. Its not the venues fault, but it is something that may need to be fixed eventually. Maybe getting servers...honestly, anything to help keep the guests in their seats would make it an even better experience. I enjoyed how fast they got everyone in, even while wanding all guest and their purses. The guests constantly getting up and standing in front, without a care in the world was my only bad thing to say.

Its been years since Ive been to the Florida theatre. I recently went to the Peppa pig show with my niece and it was wonderful. The ushers were patient great about getting everyone to their seat and since its not a huge theatre there really isnt a bad seat in the house. I would say if you are afraid of heights to stay close to the landings when choosing your seat. I do tend to get a bit of vertigo when sitting higher up along with the steeper steps going up to those seats. Other than that its definitely one of my favorite theatres.
