Great music. Great drinks. This venue is wonderful. A lot of nice acts come through this place! The staff here is awesome. I feel safe at all the concerts here.

The venue is a little small, but they keep fans and an air conditioner on to keep it cool when youre dancing. The bartenders are really quick and the bathroom (at least the womens) is pretty clean. The patio is incredibly nice, even when it was raining, we found a spot to sit and it was comfortably lit. Went to the venue for sunsquabi and it was a great show, it really shook the place! Great sound inside and decent prices at the bar. Id definitely go again.

The place is made of brick so the acoustics are literally perfect in that building, and they have a backyard courtyard that taged up by a great spray paint artist and ofc you can blaze down back there between sets!

My friends and I pulled up to the Spite/Varials/Dealer show last week, and this venue is probably one of my favs now! The inside is massive and easy to navigate, and the employees here are very helpfulEven offered a helping hand when my friend got hit too hard in the pit. Plus they have a cool setup for smokers on their back porch, great for awesome photo ops. 10/10 returning again!

I like the acts they bring through on occasion, but the sound system needs to be upgraded. They have a lot of unused speakers sitting around. The murals in the back courtyard are pretty cool.

Definitely for the younger crowd. I was only there to see Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers (Awesome band) because Im a fan. Make sure to stop at the bar on your way in. Theres no waitress coming around on that floor to take a drink order. Come to think of it, I dont think I saw a waitress. Im one and Done on this place. How ever they own the restaurant next door and it had awesome food.

Excellent venue with a variety of shows each month. The courtyard is fantastic. The staff are friendly and the service is great. Spliffs next door is a must for those late night munchies after a great show. No matter what youre into theyre going to have something for you! A modern staple of the downtown experience. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite places to see live music. I will usually check whats playing here every week, typically you can buy tickets at the door for a reasonable price. Its one of the main reasons I will go downtown at this point, definitely worth checking out.

So I enjoyed the concert but do not set up a tab for your drinks. On a busy night dont do it. I and other people were disputing our tickets. I kept count, I had 10, was charged for 15, nope! Also the sound, not so great for emo music. And now I know...Edit: I was refunded for the 5 I didnt order. Took about 4 days but the credit posted to my card.

Have been here twice now. Once for Josh Card a couple months ago and then last night for Whitey Morgan & the 78s! Both shows were awesome as usual! But it was sooo hot in there last night that it made it hard to enjoy the show after waiting for over an hour to get in! And the beer was hot too! Place needs better a/c and more cold beer!! I dont know if I would go back!!

Very sick venue! It does get crowded but its no big deal. Bands come from all over the place. The bar is pretty long so wait time isnt much. They also have a back patio where you can chill out and smoke a cigarette while you wait for the next band to set up. I love this place a lot. I come here atleast once a month.

Loved Whitey Morgan and the 78’s show. The guys are always top notch. But the venue was terrible. Prior to entry, we had to wait in a long line outside .....and once we were able to enter.....it was extremely hot. Wall to wall people and extremely hot!!!! And also...the beer was hot!!! Perhaps The venue needs to do a little more preparation when they have a sold out crowd.

Was denied entry when I had my camera bag with the lens is I needed in order to take the photos I wanted. Mind you I wasnt a paid photographer. but I was with a paid photographer for the band.

Review №43

This place is coolThe small stage and proximity to the audience creates an intimate setting.Major drawback which is HUGE is the lack of any sort of security. My wife and I saw Riff Raff recently and there was at least 5 real bad fights that were never even broken up. They fought until they tired out or knocked unconscious. The performers on stage stopped the show and asked people to please stop fighting. It can’t cost that much to hire two security bouncers.. I saw some people get brutally beat up. I would sue if it personally was me.

I’ve now been to 1904 Music Hall roughly half a dozen times for live shows, so my review and rating are based on my aggregated experiences, however my most recent experience last night at the Baroness concert is pushing my overall grade down some. The good: Good location downtown close to a couple of paid parking lots and walking distance to a handful of other restaurants, bars and venues. The people working the front door at last nights show were very kind. The venue is good sized for most of the bands they bring in. The bar is good sized and the service is sufficient. The back enclosed patio is spacious, clean and secure with some seating, smoking and vaping allowed and access to the bar and restaurant next door with additional restrooms. The sound system overall is good although there are a few dead spots that could be improved upon. The bad: Mostly at the Baroness show last night, first off - holy hell was it hot. They packed us in like sardines and left the front door open, but that didn’t matter much. At 9pm it was still 96 degrees outside with nearly 100% humidity and there is almost NO WAY they were under the listed capacity of 300. No way. That means they literally knowingly sold more tickets than what the venue holds and were in violation of the fire code. It was so crowded that my wife who is 5’5” couldn’t see the stage, the band, anything, from the back. A friend we were with got so hot in the back of the venue they almost passed out. Everyone was drenched in sweat by the time Baroness took the stage and we attempted to move towards the front of the venue by the front door by the bar to get my friend some air. When we got over by the bar, the bartenders yelled at us for standing up against the bar and said we had to move to which we replied, “Where!?! There’s literally NOWHERE to go!” They were like, “Sorry, you have to move away from the bar! You can’t stay leaning on the bar!” Completely miffed, we shoved away from the bar, stood like a foot away from the edge of it and tried to enjoy the rest of Baroness’ set and bailed as soon as the band finished.Hey, 1904 Music Hall: you’re a cool venue and we appreciate your presence and shows you offer, but consider adding air conditioning in the summer months and don’t sell more tickets than your capacity. If you can’t afford to pay the artists without making money then don’t book them.

Its a music venue opposite the block of the Florida theatre. Small shows, small stage. Dim lighting, but great stage lights. Decent bar, but limited drink options. Its operating in tandem with Spliffs next door, however, which has a fantastic selection of everything from craft beers and liquor to El Cheapo house mixers. Awesome food with vegan friendly options. 1904 has some nice murals and a cool scene with new people always stopping by. Check out the lineup next time youre going by. You could be surprised.

One of my favorite venues in downtown Jax. The bouncer was extremely cool, I think his name was Vic. I was doing a photography gig, lugging my heavy bag with me & taking pics was extremely awkward so the guy let me stash my bag by the door where he was. My stuff was completely safe & he was one of the many awesome employees at this venue!! The bartenders were awesome. As crowded as it was. They maintained the event very well and I recommend anyone in the area to stop by & see for yourself! Also buy Vic a beer lol
