Ive been walking these trails since I could walk with my dad and brothers,,, now I take my boys and an occasional bike ride with my dad who is still enjoying the peace and tranquility of this beautiful area!!! Something I hope to still be doing at his age, almost 80 years young,, I believe these woods have played a big role in my dads health and calming ways... Truly a beautiful place and a big part of my life Wich Im passing on to my boys!!
Huge reserve with tons of trails. We hike here often and almost never walk the same set of trails twice. There is always something new to see or a new entry to try. Lots of variation from wetland to old growth pine forest to riverside and open field. We see horses, bikers, hikers, and runners. Highly recommended. Most of the trails are identified by numbered intersections. The trails themselves vary in difficulty and range from singletrack to pavement. Theres no good trail map at the trail heads so its recommended to download the map to your phone before you go.
Great blue heron, swan, egret and ? Beautiful birding area, few people, lovely trails around beaver pond. See dam and lodge. Amazing!
The single track here offers just the right balance between tech and flow! Highly recommended!
Great place to mountain bike. Fun singletrack trails. Well maintained and easy to access. Good parking as well.
Great place to hike and mountain bike. Good mix of single-track and wider fire roads. Mainly forested. A few spots it opens up, but mainly in swamp/Marsh areas and near Marinis farm. Good mix of oak/hickory, pine and a few beech groves as well.
Lots of cool things to see on some of the funnest MTB trails around
Wonderful, colorful, relaxing hike.
My first visit to Willowdale was great. I ride the Middlesex Fells often. They are somewhat comparable in land area and beauty but Willowdale trail conditions are far superior. Great single track that is maintained. Much better riding. Willowdale is also a little less crowded though that may have just been timing.
Great place to go for a hike with the kids or the dog. There are popular mountain bike trails as well. In the winter there is a fair number of people who nordic ski.
It was a wonderful place, I had a great time
Plenty of hiking trails. Quiet. Opportunity to see owls, deer, sometimes a Fisher cat. Swampy in parts and bug spray is a must.
The trails are great, though easy to get lost in, so bring a map!
This place is a awesome place to go for a bike ride or a run.
Loved all the different terrains - ponds, meadows, hills. Great place to geocache as well.
Miles of beautiful paths and wooded trails. Easy to navigate, but follow the markers!
Mountain bike playground with gorgeous ferns everywhere. I give 5 stars because I can take my 7yr old riding there. Theres solid technical stuff but nothing like so many of the other rides in the area.
I fish at Hoods Pond, and its pretty good, considering its small size.
Great place to get lost for a day. Lots of space, lots of trails. Great for biking or walking. Access from Linebrook road(near Marini Farm) or Topsfield road(near Bradley Palmer) is easy.Great in all seasons. Little muddy in parts in the spring.
Its an expansive forest with a multitude of well maintained trails for your enjoyment. Anything less than 5 stars would be ridiculous.
Quite calming place to swim fish or boating.
Lovely quiet woods for riding, biking, hiking etc. 40 miles of trails means endless exploration. One star less because there are no public amenities like toilets, and the Linebrook Road parking lot is unpaved and rough.
Great forest. Unfortunately, trails are not marked very well.
Great spot to go mountain biking
Great trail network, hard to navigate some times but the maps and markers are discreet enough to not ruin the experience but adequate to find your way.
Nice Forest close to Boston. A variety of trails for different levels. Horses also use the trail. Theres a farm right across selling groceries. A good place to practice reading Maps.
Great for trail running, but easy to get lost. I followed the white blazes, but they were not always marked. There are also a lot of unmarked side trails to get lost on. So, be careful! They also have a trail map at the parking lot.
Loved the sounds of the forest.....it seems to go on forever!!!!!
Not too technical and has some great trails for cyclocross and MTB.
Great biking
Nice mostly level trails.
Want some good trails? Theres no better place than Willowdale. It also connects to Bradley Palmer State Park, which also has some really awesome trails.
I had a great time hiking with my son here
Great hiking trails
Still exploring here. There its some real nice flowy single track mountain biking....a good break from the typical NE biking. Reminds me of Western NY style trails of fast, turny, and the occasional jump thrown in.
Good well maintained single track connected with fire roads. Don’t expect to get crazy difficult lines. This place is a blue though and through.
Beautiful location. Excellent place for taking pictures.
Its a beautiful place to be best sights and sounds are amazing
Nice swift single tracks. And if you get lost, just follow the fireroads and youll find your way back.
Great area for MTB
Good mountain biking here, nice singletrack. If you have a bike for mountain bike type of riding, you should go here and mountain bike on the mountain bike trails.
Mountain biking in these woods is excellent. Bring a map, and some bug spray.
Good mix of MTB trails, none too extreme though.
Many great mantained trails! Excellent fun!
Beautiful, lightly-visited, lots of variety (though nothing technical, the paths are well maintained and easy).
Biking, hiking, running, walking....a great place to clear your head !
Hike bay circit tail .was very well marked and taking care of
Nice forest
Vast maze of forested trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking and XC skiing. Try to get a map or use your phones GPS or you may get lost.
Serene area with good walking and biking paths
Great place to hike or bike
Good for the bike trails.
One of the flowiest places to ride in North Shore
Beautiful, quiet setting in a beautiful town.
Excellent single track mountain biking
Great biking
Awesome place for walks or bike rides
Great beginner single track. Trails are getting worn from overuse where lack of care
Love it! super relaxing
