This has a nice scenic walkway around the river!

I park here at the river when I need to clear my head. Its the perfect place to find some inner peace! The park is nice to take your kids on a picnic as well. Of course the Ionia Free Fair is always fun too!

Stopped to eat take out there with a friend. There was a horse cart show and a fund raiser community yard sale. Usually something interesting here on weekends!

We drove the boat 9 miles up the river for my wife to walk up and get us corn dogs and elephant ears its a tradition it must be done its a wonderful thing on a wonderful day.

Just a fenced off area, dosent even resemble a park and is in poor shape, slum like conditions. Nothing to attract people.

Went to the hippie festival. Wanted to go back this year but unfortunately it was canceled because of covid

Parking is a little much at $10 a vehicle with NO same day reentry. And as with any fair the items are a touch spendy and of course the food is costly BUT it is the fair and a good time as always. Enjoyed the draft horse pulls with my mama n hubby last night.

This is the place I met my wife, during the ionia free fair 10 best days of summer. Great upkeep and multiple picnic areas easy river access for fishing and also has a boat launch. The only negative is it floods every year around first thaw.

Fun little bit pricey should have free parking if you buy Grand stand tickets

Went to the Ionia Free Fair and was blown away by the number of rides and carnival type foods. I have never seen so many carnival rides in one place! We go to county fairs to see the animals and were not disappointed with them either. Will definitely take grandkids (if we ever have any).

Great place to take the family they have rides and food during fair or just a great time with your friends and or boyfriend or your spouse

I love going to this fair. It didnt seem to have as many vendors this year as usual but it did have an awesome free concert and lots of free shows. I had a great time as I believe many did. The only negative was that it was so hot and very little shade.

Ionia needs to start a fundraiser to try to get Grants from the state and federal governments and other organizations to do a complete rebuild of the fairgrounds to modernize it. Raise the ground level (if DNR and others permit. Add attractions for year round use. Especially concerts and other big ticket events! Improved and larger camper. Improved and larger parking.

I have been to the Ionia fairgrounds many times for many different events. The two most recent were the Ionia Free Fair and Hippie Fest.The Ionia free fair is an annual event and is one of the biggest events in the area. It is free to get into the fair, however you will need to pay if you choose to ride rides. (A standard at these kinds of events) The free fair is always enjoyable, however I recommend coming later in the day as it can get very hot when riding rides and walking around. There is always so much to see at the fair. This year there were seals, tractor pulls, and the rides and vendors. I highly recommend checking out the cafeteria before the food trucks as you will surely save money that way.

I love going to the fair!! Its very crowded but very fun for the family.

My first time visiting the free fair. First off, it is BIG. Lots of variety in food and entertainment. The tiki bar is a great place to have a cold one and watch people. Theres a stage with free shows plus the arena with the monster trucks, rodeo, tractor pull, etc. A great time for adults or families.

Is what it is...events to please us all. Never a bad experience and as a local, the Ionia fair in the summer is phenomenal. Eat all they have to offer and feel guilty later.

This is a great fair! Lots of rides, food, and space. There were tons of animals to look at. It definitely isnt free, you need to pay to park and buy tickets for rides. Worth a trip.

What happened to the fun? 13.00 turkey leg! Wth . Not even good . 8.00 chicken on a stick no its was not the whole chicken.

Went for Hippie Fest. There were no places to get out of the sun to cool down. There were only a handful of entertainers which were not good... It was only vendors selling the same things. Would not attend again!

We went for our grandsons chicken showing. It was a beautiful night with a light breeze. It was very well kept up cleanliness wise. Everyone seemed to be having fun.

There are.not always as many activities here as awhat the space could truly be used for.

Nicely located and good parking. The fair grounds had plenty of space. The only problem we had at the fair we went to was lack of shade.

My best friend got married in the Flora building yesterday, and it turned out to be a great place for it!

Was there for Hippie Fest. Could of provided more shade and water. Very hot. So many vendors. Some just seemed like a flea market.

The vendors there for the free fair are all nice and very quick to server. A huge shout out to the southwest side saloon.super friendly and a great deal on soda

Lots of fun but not really free. It is $25 4 wristband which is well worth the money had a very good time

Great covered arena with appropriate footing . New arena type building. Grounds well maintained. Camping area for horse trailers and travel trailers well maintained with water and electric hook up. Horse stalls are older but very functional. Didnt get a good look at the coliseum but the little I did see was really good. Overall great facility although a little aged. No hesitation to go again.

A little out of the way but well worth the little drive. Had a great time at hippy fest and the town of Ionia is beautiful.

Always enjoy going to the fair. The family used to live there. So they always see some old friends or family.

This is our place to go each yea as a family tradition. Its the best fair in town.

Excellent festival everybody was nice. Cool things to look at and music was great all way around.

Opening night was well worth the walking. A freak show act, Sea lions, and monkeys riding something. Plenty of rides, fun and things to do.

The grounds are HUGE and have a lot of potential. Too bad the owners dont maintain the paths/roads. And they really should see about something for the constant flooding. Though, Im not sure how much flood walls would do. Theres so much they COULD do.

The monster trucks are the best and dirt bikes to go an watch an have lots of good shows from circus to animals like this year the seahorse was really cool an its just a really cool big fair its worth the money

Free fair was the largest I have experienced - plenty of rides for the kids which made the $25.00 band worth it.

It was huge and had everything for everyone and we bought a bunny well worth it!! We plan to show our bunny next year

I had my sisters granddaughter and we left Grand Rapids and drove to Lowell and met my sister and she drove from there. We got to the fair to meet up with my sisters oldest daughter and grandson he is showing a chicken, pigs and a Turkey so proud of him. We watched a circus it was so cool. The kids rode some rides, we walked through all the barns to see the animals that my nieces son is showing. We then went to the fairs food building and my niece and the kids had ice cream cones my sister had cherry pie and coffee and she bought a whole cherry pie, I had a piece of apple pie and a bottle of water. What a wonderful day at the fair.

Quaint county fairgrounds. Home of the world famous Ionia Free Fair. With racetrack. Also has a covered stage and grand stand. Buildings for show animals and the like. Very nice facility that offers camping, with water and power hookups. Entire property is adjacent to the Grand River, with a boat ramp and shore fishing. Really is a sweet, old time county Fair set up.

Had a good time. Enjoyed the shows and the animals in the barns.

Its not the same as when i was a kid. They dont have much in the 4H barns, the rides are ok not great, the food prices are outrageous except the 4H food booth, no concerts anymore and it is free to walk into the fair but its between 4 and 10 dollars to park. This depends on where you park as parking is all around the city.

Always a Great, fun place..needs a bigger Midway

The historic Floral Building built in 1929, and located on the northside banks of the Grand River, has been a wonderful place for visitors during the annual Ionia Free Fair, and has had many venues of a vast variety of entertainment, and wedding receptions, and other family get-togethers. It has a length size covered Veranda on the back side facing the river, that allows for a peaceful and comfortable setting to sit back and relax as you watch the river flow by. :-)

It floods in the spring. But most of the year it is a very nice place to spend time. If you play pokemon go there are severale stops and 2 gyms in the park.

We went to mainly see the circus with the elephants and lions and tigers it was awesome. They also have a good selection of livestock we like to go see the horses and the chickens. They have a good assortment of free entertainment to go see as well like motorcycles in a metal circle ball doing all kinds of neat tricks and the duck races were fun this was definitely a good place to take the entire family highly suggestible over any other Fair especially Allegan Fair thats the worst

Occasionally visit for the free fair (that is not even close to being free!) burger King located in walking distance to the grounds.

Great place even after the fair is gone nice for picnics family gatherings you can rent buildings for weddings and family reunions. The camping is nice they have water and electricity trick hook ups. There is a bridge to cross the river walking trails and plenty of riverfront to fish.

I dont think this was a very good place for Hippie Fest. Things were spread out way to far and parking was not good. Next year Ill try the one in Meers instead.
