Not going to lie going to the movies during the pandemic is how I picture going to the movies during a zombie apocalypse. Im not hating it.

We all loved the new seats! The employees were nice and kept the theater clean.

It was great to be back in the theater. Saw a great movie. Had a wonderful time.

I have been coming here with my family since I was little. I have never had a bad experience. Its changed a lot over the years but when I walk through that door I still feel like Im home. I would give AMC 50 stars if I could for bringing so much comfort and happiness for more than 25 years.

They are taking excellent caution at trying to keep everyone distance and safe with cleaning. Also theyre spreading the seats out between guests. Definitely get back to going to shows for enjoyment.

Explain to me why you have to have an adult with you after 7pm even to see a children’s movie. Like having an adult with you is gonna stop the spread of corona after a certain time of day. Doesn’t make any since to me.

This used to be the worst AMC in KC. It is now one of the better ones after a remodel that includes new zero g chairs and assigned seating. This place is worth a visit again!

Its been quite a few years since Ive been back to this particular theater. I will start off with the friendliness and courteous actions of the staff. Proceeded to the theater where I was going to. Nicely reclined seats and definitely appreciated the area that I was sitting in was very clean. Definitely got to hand it to them theyre on their job. Look forward to going there again and not waiting so long.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The man that greeted us was SUPER friendly. The popcorn was so fresh. And the seats are so comfortable I almost wanted to sleep there. Will definitely be bringing my family next time to check it out!

So booked seat through fandango but the ticket wasnt there even though the seat was listed as filled. Probably should give Fandango the finger. Only pay with card on file with fandango. Because I went through PayPal it did not propagate in AMCs system

A great theater thats across from the Independence Center shopping mall. They have nice comfy seats but they do no recline or have heat. The sound and picture are always good mostly if its the IMAX theater and I think its worth paying a little more for. Weve seen the 3D movies here and they are expensive but an awesome experience.

Great theater that has been totally modernized beginning with computerized ticket purchase and seat choices. Concession stand now offers fast food meals and there is a nice bar area. Seats are very comfortable, easily accessible and totally adjustable. The auditoriums are kept clean and the theater was nicely decorated. Another great feature is the amount space given to each seat allowing easy entrance and exit for restrooms, snacks etc. Had a great time and will certainly go back.

Dont like how they treat the youth but the theater is nice looking, costumer service should be upgraded some

While the reserved seating and recliners are a welcomed edition, I do wish the recliners would lean back a little further for those of us who are on the taller side. The reclined position also doesnt afford a lot of walking room for those needing to get to their seats. Both of these are non-issues at my local B&B theaters.Ill keep the score at 4 though for the addition of heated seats (have not seen this anywhere else) and the vast improvements theater wide were well over due. Happy that my local AMC finally has caught up with the rest.

I loved the seats here (at least in the theater we were in). Clean, comfortable and they were even heated! The floors were nice and clean as well. Ill go back when Im in that area.

The theater seats are comfortable. They recline and heat which I was so impressed by . They have a bar and the staff at concessions were so friendly. However, the trash needs to be taken out more than whatever its scheduled to be. It was overflowing like crazy.

From someone who is used to a janky, old theater from my hometown, this one was fun to go to. The ticket kiosks are nice to be able to just purchase tickets, have it printed out & be able to choose seats yourself. Reclining seats are always nice too. Drink fountains with a lot of options & a full menu to choose from. Even an arcade and bar. Did not give five stars due to it being crazy hot in the lobby & no one around to even check to see if I had my tickets. I could have easily snuck into a movie without purchasing a ticket because no one was around. Should really have more people posted outside the theater to check tickets.

Been going to this theater for years, now they just need to get the nice recliners in all of their theaters.

Finally saw the new Star Wars movie. Enjoyed it in my reclining seat. Clean theatre with good sound system.

I like AMC Independence Commons, except for you have to use machines to get your tickets. That just takes to long. It would have been faster with a person.

I have been going to this movie theater since they opened. It used to be great but since they did the renovation and changes it’s gone downhill completely.Feels like they’re just about making money and not about good customer service anymore. It’s impossible to get a live person when you want to buy tickets. It used to feel warm and inviting. Now it just feels boxed in and impersonal. Purchased two large popcorn‘s and when we went to get a refill the snack bar was closed already. Apparently they close the snack bar after the movie starts. If they’re going to do this they should at least let you know when you’re purchasing popcorn’s that are supposed to come with refills. I also don’t understand why you would close the concession stand down until after the last movie gets out. I brought this up to the employees they said there’s nothing they can do about it and that it’s “corporate“.From Now on I will choose to give my business to a different corporate office then. We are regular movie goers but from now on will be driving to liberty where we don’t have these issues.

Remodel is really nice. Seats are the bomb and no one bumping you from behind. Very comfy.

I had not been to this one in a long time. It was nice. Comfy reclining seats. Your not cramped next to one another. I enjoyed it.

We purchased tickets online to see a movie at this theater. When walking in, we couldnt see any directions/signs telling us what the procedure was for this. We went into the customer service area, and as soon as we got there, a lady at the entrance to the theater (ticket checker) hollered at us to go outside to use the ticket terminals. We went back out to stand in the ticket line, until we realized that we can pull up qr codes on our phones. We walked back to the ticket checker lady to have her scan the code and let us in. It shouldnt be this difficult to get in. If the employees cant be trained properly to assist customers, there should at least be some kind of signage telling the people standing in line what the ticket terminals are good for.The rest of the experience was ok. The theater was reasonably clean, the food was pretty much as expected. I was hoping that since this theatre had been renovated recently, they might have added popcorn seasonings to the popcorn topping station. No such extras were available at this theater and this may just be the AMC standard.Ill probably come back, but when I want a better, nicer experience, Ill choose a closeby B&B theater.

New seating is nice, but the place wasnt exactly clean. With all the automation I would think they could afford to hire a couple of high school kids to empty the trash and clean the bathrooms on a regular basis.Bathrooms were not very clean, the garbage can was overflowing. The trash cans inside the theater were overflowing as well. And its not like we were there at the end of a long night. This was 5pm.Keep the place clean and I would give it more stars.

It was too busy for the number of staff that were working. Not enough restrooms for the customers present. It was not overly clean. The theatre was comfortable yet the venue we were in was small. It was too busy to order concessions.The movie was excellent. Ford vs Ferarri was an excellent ztory of automotive and racing history.

Im glad they improved the seating and floors. Little disappointed the reclining chairs dont recline very much. But still, they were a much improved chair from the previous ones.

I have used this as my go to theater for the better part of 15-20 years if my recollection serves me right. Never been let down, and with the new remodel, the seats fully recline. Have warmers in the seats, and you have plenty of space, and you can reserve seats online. Dont expect good prices on popcorn, candy or drinks. Its a theater, they are massively overpriced same as everywhere else. Other than that, best theater for miles around.

Theater was fine. Seats are amazing.. love the warming feature. Staff however could use some lessons in customer service. The teenage girl behind the counter was very rude to my mother who was hosting her 7 grandkids. Unacceptable for a sunday morning.

Very clean very nice I always look at the restrooms and they were clean the lobby wasnt so much so the little girl had a poorly broom to try to sweep the floors one of the employees hurt her arm was trying but the theater was clean the movie was nice no problems getting in or out. Adequate parking.

New wide, leather, reclining, heated seats, and upgraded floor too. Dont feel like your sitting on top of the stranger next to you. Happy with our visit!

Theyve updated the theaters and the seats. There is a bar inside. My only complaint is not cleaning the theater I was in between shows. It was fairly dirty and our cup holders had stuff in it. Its a lot better than it was.

Grew up coming here, but now only come when Im back in town visiting family. Really like the changes, especially with the reclining chairs and assigned seating. I think theyve done a pretty good job keeping this place clean and accessible over the years.

This is our fav place to go watch a movie. Girls Night, my mom my Sister and me! Its always clean and the employees friendly!

Newly renovated. Much better seating and experience than before renovation. Really like the updates including reclining and heated seat option. Feels kind of like town center, but on the Missouri side.

This theater is so comfortable! The movie was crystal clear and dynamic. But turn the sound down!!!

You would think since there are no customer service reps taking money for your tickets. They would at least now have enough employees to come clean up the theater before the movie starts. Well tonight my experience was popcorn in the seats, trash in the cup holders and the manger looking at me like I did. Not sure if they will be my first pick next time. I will give them the benefit of doubt and say they were just having a bad night. They could have just been low on staff.

Love the new seats. If you want more people in for matinees you really should offer a combo package. Food and drink specials...... we go to the pharaoh on the square...$5 movie..$5 snack pack.... I take the whole crew of kids..... better than an empty theater!

The upgrades were well worth it, AMC! Please keep up the high standards, smaller stadiums and courteous staff. Im happy to see that there is a mix between young and older workers. The customer service vibe still isnt at its highest, but hard to expect top notch when their wages likely dont match all customer expectations. LOVE the heated, reclining seats!! Just be careful to not knock out on a good show!

Movie was good we watched a scary movie called stories told, something like that. We had a group of girls there with there grandfather, that was loud running in and out of the theater as well as the aisles. They finally got the police involved and escorred them out. Only at our sadness almost two hours to late. We didnt want to ruin the rest of the night so we never talked to the management

I dont normally go to AMC, but we had gift cards....All of the floors that werent carpeted were sticky, including the bathroom. And, we were at the first movie of the day, so the floors in the theater itself are always sticky.They also forgot about our showing. 15 minutes after it was supposed to start, I went to the concession stand to ask if theyd forgotten about us. 5 minutes later, previews started (with the lights coming back on for a minute about 5 minutes in).I do love the heated seats-I always get so cold watching a movie.

Pleasantly surprised, felt safe with Independence Police off duty offices at visible locations throughout. Clean.

Ive been an AMC member and consistent movie goer for years now and my experience at this particular AMC location has been horrible. In my last two attempts to go see the movie Knives Out I was greeted with forms of racism. Hopefully, moving forward staff members (including management) undergo some sort of customer service training.

I love this theater...except the seats in the IMAX. Its not worth the extra money for IMAX when the seats arent as comfortable as the regular theaters.

The new design looks pretty cool, as well as the new seats. However, assigned seating was the worst idea this theater could have implemented. Most people select a seat, and then proceed to sit at a different seat when they walk into the theater. Last time I went with two other people, we all selected three seats next to each other at the front, only to be confronted with a full family taking all the seats, completely ignoring the assigned seating rules. TL;DR The new design is cool, but the people that go to this theater are careless of others.

Clean, nice theater. Lots of screens for ample movies tto be played. The seats are leather and recline as well as have heaters in them. The price is crazy but arent all theaters now a days? There is a bar and sitting area for having drinks before your show. Try the cheese sauce with your popcorn!

This was our second time at this location, and yet again we were in awe!! The service both behind the concessions counter and the bar were lovely and the bartenders, Jake and Eric, even helped me pick out a drink based on my flavor profile. Definitely coming back here again :)The seats are also heated and the theaters are very clean.This place is worth the 20 minute drive.

Was busy on a Friday, getting tickets was easy but it needed some cleaning!

I went to a 1030 showing on September 7 to see it chapter 2. The seating was fine and the movie was good and also the food was fine. The issue I had was almost for the first 25 minutes of the movie people were having issues with people stealing seats or sitting in wrong seats and it was so distracted that it took away from the movie. Would I ever do this again at this theater now. This is why I always wait for the movies to come out on Disc and don’t go to movies.

Overall a good experience. The facility is clean and well maintained, along with friendly staff. I will return sometime, Im sure. We saw Terminator: Dark Fate in auditorium 20, seats f5-7. I took one star off because of a few minor issues. The seats were in the very back of the auditorium, which I usually like. But this was such a small theater - sitting in the very back meant we were closer to the lights and that, plus the odd viewing angle of the smaller screen, caused some glare/distortion to the screen. The stadium style seats mean everyone can see the screen, which is good. But i was distracted by the top of the persons head in front of me. I suspect this is more due to the small size of the theater than anything. Also the seats in this theater dont recline fully. At 57, Im average height. The headrest was a bit low for me. I had to scoot down in my seat a bit, which caused my feet to hang off the forest a little. The seats were otherwise comfortable. Lastly, the sound could have been a smidge louder. All that being said, this AMC location is one of the nicer ones Ive been to in the metro area. It was cleaner than most, and the staff were pleasant. The auditorium was maintained at a comfortable temperature. I will return to this location in the future.

AMC Theater corporate needs to get their act together if they want to survive. Went to the 12:30 p.m. IMAX showing of 1917 on the 1/13/2020. Arrived at 12:15 paid went in and got seated. First let me say that nether the screen or the audio I saw was the true IMAX experience I was expecting. That said, the real purpose of this review is to express my aggravation with the fact that the theater starting the movie 20 minutes late. Obviously the theater was waiting for sold tickets to scan in before starting the show. When the show finely started they ran a full 30 minutes of promos and commercials.THIRTY MINUTES.........ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING!!!!!! Why do you thank people pay the extra cash, make the drive? (Hint), Its not to be bombarded with corporate driven self-servicing Ads. By the time the movie started I was so P.O.ed I couldnt enjoy it. I will never go back.

They recently update the theaters and I love them! They recline fully with feet up. They have a button for heating for those who get cold in theaters. They also have $5 Tuesdays for those who cant afford to see movies at the normal price.

Paid a convenience fee for my online tickets to sit in filthy seats, my seat did not work but had 2 used dental floss picks. $28 for 2 tickets, no one able to fix my seat once I waited in line for ever for assistance. Wont be going back!

Love the remodeled theater seats but really wish the seats were wider and the foot rest dont go all the way up this is a disappointment but an improvement to this theater much needed. As the old seats had stains all over them.

Place was under construction when I went there, there were strange lines no one seemed to know where to go or what to do. It took a very long time,considering there was no one in line at the concession stand when I got there.. No one was rude the people that work there seemed either confused or disinterested. Im not sure if anyone even cares about any of that stuff but services aside, the screen and audio were in good form and the seats were fairly comfortable. Oh!! And I didnt get any bed bugs

When I went, half of the building was under construction. The new improvements are amazing though. For warned, there are heaters in the seats. If your back gets extremely hot, dont worry. The seat is not malfunctioning. It is just the heater.

As long as the bed bugs are gone. The theater looks real nice.

The theater itself is nice, they have done major updates and it looks great. The rude customers are a totally different story. Who takes selfies during the movie? The 3 or 4 girls sitting next to me did with a flash no less. People please teach your kids how to act right in public. Thanks, from everyone who has to deal with them.

The new remodel is awesome but we watched over 40 ads and trailers before the movie started only to find that the ticket person sent us to the wrong theater. There were no signs indicating which movie was in what theater so we just left. We were reimbursed two tickets for later use.

Used to come here frequently, I have nothing negative to say. But to be honest, the newer theaters with recliner seating and the roomy leg room and wider walk ways are my first choice. I still come here when my theater is not showing the movie I want to see. Anyway, I have nothing against this place, its just more convenient for me now to go to the theater a half mile away.

We went to see “The Rise of Skywalker” in IMAX. Comfortable seats with good leg room. However, the volume for the trailers, ads, and self promotions was so loud I had my fingers in my ears. It was constant and unnecessary. I come to the theater to enjoy an experience I can’t replicate at home, not to be uncomfortable and concerned about ear damage. Even with my ears plugged, I could clearly understand all the conversation in the trailers. A noisy explosion/occasional loud scene... I can cover up temporarily, but to have to do it for the entire opening lineup is just wrong.

Went to see Captain Marvel..the movie was great. The bad part was the theater itself..the remodel is nice looking however the new reclining chairs are probably the most uncomfortable chair Ive sat in..your feet dont touch the floor so you have to recline which puts you at an awful position. My back, legs and even my feet hurt after sitting there for 2 hours. It is extremely hot in the particular theater we were in and where the button for the heated seat is kept getting bumped and turned on making it even hotter. The sound was fine but it was so loud that my ears were ringing after the movie. Its to bad that they are doing all this renovating and now its worse.

They are still under renovating but so far its totally different and way better. New menu which was neat but I got the pretzel which is HUGE but took a little long to come out. Waited about 15 mins at least I didnt miss the movie. So far so good
