Yesterday I got to visit the US Veterans Museum in Huntsville. I went on a bit of a military history kick after binge watching The Pacific, Generation Kill, and Band of Brothers. There are just so many incredible stories to be heard. Definitely check it out if you get the chance. It’s only $5 and the money is a donation to the museum. The inside features medals, uniforms, guns, vehicles, war advertisements, and some local Alabama history as well.

We went here with a group of friends over the 4th of July weekend. This was a solid visit. They have so much to see in terms of artifacts and vehicles. There is a lot to take in. The staff is friendly as well. My only complaints or observations would be 1. There is so much to take in that it really needs to be laid out a little better. Some of it looks like at one time they started to catalogue it and lay it out based on a chronological time line and stoppedA lot of it consists of just wandering around looking at tons of cool military artifacts and historical pieces. Thats fun in itself but it could be a little better. The 2nd thing was the wasps on the outside exhibit. I understand its summertime in Alabama but you just gotta get out there early in the spring and check it daily. We didnt even go outside because they were so bad. Overall its well worth the price though to see some terrific historical memorabilia.

This place has SO MUCH history, crammed into a small building. They need more people to visit, more people to donate- they need a bigger building to display things better. But that is a positive thing - right now it puts history up close and personal! Highly highly highly recommended!!!

We left Nashville TN and headed south to explore Alabama. Read so many great reviews of the US Veterans Memorial Museum that we ventured off of I-65S and headed towards Huntsville AL. So glad we did. Do not miss this amazing experience. The staff was friendly and informative. This displays were overwhelmingly complete from Revolutionary War right up to the Mideast. You will not be disappointed.

Very neat! Im not a huge fan of history movies but going in here and being able to see original memorabilia such as letters and veteran ids was like stepping back on time. It blows my mind that this things have been preserved for so many years. They have so many original tanks and jeeps and guns and uniforms. We easily spent 3 hours looking at things. All of the people working there are veterans and it was wonderful having them show us around and talk to us about many of the items and how they were attained. A definite must for anyone. A little gem in the heart of Huntsville.Thank you to all who serve and have served, we appreciate your service.

An amazing amount of military history is being kept for generations to come. Relaying soley on donations and volunteers, the efforts to preserve the artifacts and vehicles does not go unnoticed. We were told by a volunteer that the city will be adding on to the building in the future so they will have more room to display the artifacts. There are so many and their space is filling up. Allow for an hour and half at least, there is a lot to see!

The building seemed deceptively small. This place is packed with history. The way the museums path works out gives you the opportunity to return to an area and see something that you completely missed the last time you passed. The sheer number and size of the items inside are impressive. My family and I spent an hour or so walking around looking and taking pictures. $20 for 4 people to engage with history like that was definitely worth it.

When you enter, be ready to see military history up close. The vehicles inside along with the weapons, uniforms and other items all have a story that is very unique. We held a rifle from World War 1 and compared the weight to current guns. It was great getting a tour from the volunteers who know the history and gave us info that we never knew...such as did you know the first Army Jeep made is at this museum? or that there is a gun here that returned fire on the Japanese forces that bombed Pearl Harbor? I would highly recommend this amazing museum.

It was an amazing experience. It is a wonderful museum and has a lot to look at. What I found that made it amazing though were the people who have graciously given their time to make this place what it is. They have created the cabinets to display some of the items. They repair and maintain the items. They take the vehicles out for local parades and give tours. They are volunteers. Many of them have served their country before, and now they educate us. To those of the Veterans Memorial Museum well done and thank you so much for your continued service. For those that are looking for something to do, some history, or a unique experience give the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum a go. You wont be disappointed!
