This is a nice place to take the family downtown. Unfortunately there is no access to public bathrooms because they are locked down due to covid. However, I would hope that they would make sure that they have bathrooms for those that are social distancing and want to enjoy the outdoors. The kids always need a clean place to be able to go to the bathroom when they are visiting the parks.

Fun place to take the family to and to see a little bit of Huntsville in a different way. Our kids absolutely loved walking through the trains and seeing the firetruck.

Loved the kid area, they have so many kitchen items. Theres a cash register with play money. They have a lot of dress up clothes for boys and girls. Toys for smaller kids. The had a train and a truck to play in and climb on. We didnt even have time to tour the rest of the place, we spent so much time in the kid room.

If you are into a great guided tour about civil war history then this is a great place to visit. Our guide Winter was very knowledgeable and explained everything we saw thoroughly. There is a lot of neat stuff here and you will learn a lot. It doesnt look like much at first but, their is a lot of history here. The tour guide is essential as they explain things you never would have picked up if it were self guided. I believe this is a must visit if you have a few days in Huntsville.

What a neat place to go visit. You feel like you have gone back in time. The Train Depot has always been my favorite part. So much history downstairs and upstairs. Includes items and history of the Civil War and of the South.

The tour guide was rarely engaging. The Museum was doing renovations and the tour guide continued to talk during the drilling/sawing which meant we hardly could understand what he was saying between the gaps. The best part was the hands-on where kids could climb and touch the trains.

Railroad station is awesome given it’s over 158 years old. Only issue it was closed. It won’t open till November 23 in preparation for holidays. It would be helpful if they would post the fact that it is closed up until November 23. Otherwise pretty neat.

History is important and understanding the impact that this railroad station had in the growth of Huntsville was fascinating. The layout was impressive - and the actual facilities were well maintained. Additionally, in the upstairs, there is an impressive display of Union soldiers wall writing when being held as prisoners.

A good place to stop if you like history, it needs some TLC. You should go support Huntsville history there isnt alot of original historical places being paid appropriate attention.

This place has DEFINITELY seen better days. You can tell that it is not visited as frequently as it once was. Nothing seems to be kept up in the manner of previous days. Things in the museum were falling apart, covered in dust , the museum lacked Interactive areas and learning opportunities. The tour guide was very nice and did a great job telling the story of the history of the museum I hope that it is brought back to glory. Sad to see it depreciate like this.

We visited for the Christmas Village...wow...very much a let down. Will not waste my money again. We stood in line for Santa for 1.5 hrs and moved maybe 10ft and were told it would be another 2 hrs. Needless to say we left, and went to Bass Pro Shop and walked right up to Santa. Also..the making cookies was putting horrible white icing on stale store bought, cheap, generic cookies. The animal area was in the middle of the the mud and unable to get to it.

I just loved bringing my two boys to the train depot! My boys are 4 and 2 so we didnt do the actual museum part, but they loved going in and out of all the big trains. The air conditioned play room with smaller trains and toys was a nice break from the hot sun and helped our 4 year old (who has mild autism) settle down and transition to the big trains(which he was scared of at first). My husband and I had fun climbing on things too! The sand pit with buckets and shovels was a big hit as well. Plenty of shade everywhere and a nice covered pincic area for a quick snack. We even got to see two real trains go by, which made my boys extremely happy.
