You have to see it to appreciate it. Easily one of the most incredible things Ive ever laid my eyes upon. While the restoration of this historic masterpiece has been extremely well-done, the tragedy with this display is the building that houses it. The Saturn V is so big that you cant actually see the whole thing at once because the building it sits in is so small. Hopefully JCS is able to pull off building a better display format one day, but nonetheless, still an absolutely incredible experience.
Nice place to visit with your kids. Fun & educational. One of the best places to visit around the Houston area. This place is part of Space Center Houston, this hangar features a restored Saturn VThere are some benches outside the facility and also inside the hanger.Mighty and massive, the Saturn V rocket at NASA Johnson Space Center is the tallest, heaviest and most powerful rocket ever flown. NASA used the colossal Saturn V rockets primarily during the Apollo program to send Americans to the Moon. The Saturn V rocket stands 363 feet tall and has dazzled viewers since its first un-crewed takeoff, the Apollo 4 mission in 1967. When fueled and ready for launch, the rocket can weigh 6.2 million pounds (2.8 kg). That is almost the same weight as 39 space shuttle orbiters.
This rocket is part of Space Center Houston. Based on signage next to the display, it is the final Saturn rocket built. Until the 1990s it laid unprotected from the environment and wildlife. JSC is a wildlife preserve, with many deer, alligators, etc having the run of the land. Around 1999 a preservation process began saving this important piece of space history.
Johnson Space Center Saturn V rocket or is extremely interesting. All the Apollo missions are posted on the wall. Including some of their funny experiences. For some its a place for you would want to go if youre looking at Nostalgia. And the future is yet to come. Be advised though, taking photos of the Saturn V rocket is one of those things for you will have to take some time figuring out how to best deal with it. Very interesting, very all inspiring.
No longer free access. It is still included on the tour that is included in the price for General admissions, however you use to be able to view the Saturn V without purchasing a General admission ticket. I was told by the security guard that NASA changed their policy in July (2019). This was highly disappointing because I use to love stoping by for a few minutes to look at it when ever I was in the area. With that being said, the mighty Saturn V is still a MUST see engineering marvel and JSC has done a great job of making it look good. Sadly I just wont get to see it as often any longer.
Highly recommended tour, included in the cost of admission. Pays tribute to our space program. If you grew up in the 60s and 70s as I did ( AKA the Wonder Years) then you will want to see this.
This place is free (the space center costs money, but the Saturn V site is free and has free parking) for anyone who wants to see this legendary rocket. It is almost bigger than you can imagine, and especially mind-blowing when you realize that this massive engineering marvel is only designed to take three people to space. It is on loan from the Smithsonian, so it will not be here forever. This is a perfect free trip for the family, especially visitors to Houston.
Must see in-person to appreciate the massive size.
Interesting place. Kept us entertained all day.
Unbelievable rocket, great information and pictures describing NASA expeditions.
Nice place to gain knowledge of space
Had a good time with visitors to Texas from Michigan.
Great place to visit.
Bert interesting to see how we in that time were able to fly into space AND return safely.
Very nice place with children. You can see all the details about moon landing ships and the astraunuts.
Amazing, one of a kind, exhibit. The rocket is actually ready to launch, it just needs fuel. Everything is real and legitimate. We got some great information from a particularly helpful guide, dont be afraid to ask questions, the man we spoke with loved to talk and answered all of our questions at length
Great historical lesson, learned lots about space exploration! Still the same great place it was years ago!
I was fascinated by the Saturn V as a kid but had never seen one in real life. The sense of scale of this monster rocket cannot be put into words. Seeing the restored rocket was simply amazing!
Cant see this anywhere else.
Great to see a close up of a real Saturn 5 moon rocket.
Its huge. Go see it.
Seriously, you can see Americas most historic scientific creation for free! How can anyone give less than 5 stars?
One of the most aw inspiring things you could ever look at. I could literally spend hours staring at this thing. Its amazing what humans can do when they put their mind to something.
Its amazing that we sent people to the moon on this thing. Nothing like sitting on top a gigantic missile being blasted thousands of miles away into an environment that supports absolutely no life.
Awesome experience! I could not fathom the size of the rocket. Its like launching a building into space.
A really nice place to visit. There is a life size model of spacecrafts and a really nice description of the Apollo missions.
Just amazing. The Saturn V is beyond description. Massive power!
Its a literal spectacle. Ive never been in such complete awe in my life. This is a testament to the technical capacity of humankind.
Awesome! Thats 1 big rocket that got our astronauts safely to space!
A good place to visit. The Saturn rocket ship is a cool treat!
This is a closed warehouse were the rocket is stored, and is amazing how big it is. Along with it they have the description of all the missions on the wall.
Its amazing. Great educational family trip
This Saturn rocket was amazing. Definitely recommended for those fascinated by space.
This place is mind blowing! Words cannot describe the size of the Saturn V rocket, so go and see it for yourself instead!
