I used to love playing this course because of the tee time spacing, never did I see a group in front or behind of me. However now due to COVID and the assumption that the owners do not care if people play slow and only need an influx of money have altered this; on some holes I could watch a full episode of a show and knit a sweater before teeing off. The amount of god awful players, tee time consideration, and so forth disappoints me. Definitely will be avoiding this golf course for a couple of years. Also, I would think with a moderate price to a course it be better service to us consumers though is not the case, as cheap courses have this problem it’s sad to see a premium course with these problems.

Nice 36 hole layout with hills and undulation. Played hear countless times and can say that the conditions are always above average for Houston courses. The reason I cannot give it five stars is because of the price. At peak rates or without a hot deal, there are too many other courses around Houston that are better bang for the buck i feel like.

Highlands course is a good course but its a challenge with some blind shots. Buy the yardage guide since the carts DO NOThave GPS. Highlands is a link style but its not really links. The ball will run forever through the rough and into the woods/hazards. I played in May and the course was in very good shape. Greens were in excellent condition. Cool views of Houston from many holes.Lakes course is easier if you can avoid the water. Again the yardage book is a must or get paired up with a local.Food was good and decently priced. Staff was very helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone lower than a 15 handicap.

Its a treasure mine of a golf course, with plenty of amazing views. A yellow ball is easy to see due to the sky backdrop and the layout will challenge short hitters and far hitters alike. Greens are fun and fairways swindle around lake resovoirs. The staff service and equipment are great, making the overall experience memorable any time of the year. Great place for corporate outings.

Underwhelming experience.. for the price, I wouldve thought the course might have been in better condition. I also booked three tee times over the phone, and was also told I could cancel one if needs be. So I did before arriving.. what I was not told over the phone that it needed to be within a 24hr cancellation period. So I was charged for that extra tee time, seems unfair not be given all the information. Ive tried calling to get a refund or speak to the GM five times!! no response, no email, no phone call.. customer service is below par.. thanks wildcat, but Ill look for somewhere else next time Im in Houston..

This is the quintessential golf course in all of Houston. Two different courses, the Lakes and the Highlands. Both each with their own unique elements. The elevation of this golf course, which is built over a landfill, really makes it the most unique in Houston. Combine that would be stunning use of the city from the Fairway Hilltop sand you have a one-of-a-kind golf experience that cannot be duplicated in Houston. Excellent 19th Hole Hospitality in the clubhouse as well with a great selection of food and beverage. All the memorabilia from the Houston sports teams is a bonus!

We have previously played this course and enjoyed it (although rained out the last time while we were on the course). This Sunday we had an early scheduled tee time. At around 9pm on Saturday we decided not to play with a 70%-80% chance of thunderstorms and it raining all Saturday. Part of our group lives in The Woodlands and didn’t want to drive an hour to get rained out again. After missing our tee time my card was charged the full amount for all 4 players. I called the pro shop to see if we could work something out and was told the GM would be the only one who could make that decision. Since then I have left the GM multiple messages with no returned calls.I would’ve been open to future course credit but the fact that I can’t get a returned call shows how they value customers. Every time I’ve spoken to the Pro Shop they’ve said the GM is busy and just leave a message. At this point I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone. To top it off we had 3 partial credits from getting rained out on the course previously and should’ve received a discounted round.

The best use of a landfill in Houston! Seriously, this place is built on a retired landfill. What that provides you is something that you do not get often with a course in Houston - elevation! The views of the city are excellent, but the drawback is that you will most likely be dealing with wind all day (sometimes that is worth the sacrifice with Houston heat.) There are 2 courses that I have played are the Highlands and Lakes. In my opinion, the Highlands course is probably less difficult. Not as much water (obviously) but you are still dealing with thick rough and a regular blind shot. I would consider myself an average golfer and I always lose a few golf balls because at Wildcat, if you hit the ball into the rough - you are not getting it out (it is very thick.) With the Lakes course, you will deal with water and a few blind shots similar to the Highlands course. Every time I have played Wildcat, the greens have played very fast so keep that in mind.If you are looking for a challenging course, with elevation and great views of the city - Wildcat is an excellent choice. Prices are from $60-80 per round, depending on if you play during the weekend or book a weekend tee time. Give it a try, I think you will be pleased.

Wildcat Golf Club, built on a former landfill site, is home to the 18-hole Lakes and Highlands courses. Both these well-rated and pleasantly testing championship layouts are Roy Case designs. Two great courses at one picturesque location which enjoys panoramic views of the Houston skyline. The Highlands course is a rolling hills layout that meanders back and forth through itself and the treacherous Lakes course with its mix of holes and middle set of holes that will devour your balls with all its water hazards. Usually a bit pricey in the morning but twilight rates are very reasonable.

Pace of play was great for a tournament, the course was in good shape, and the shot making is always challenging. I appreciate what they did to go above and beyond to make the experience good for our guests, knowing it reflected as much on us as them. This was absolute the worst golf experience ever. 82 dollar premium green fees for a mediocre conditioned course and probably the worst service ever. First about the course, multiple hidden ant piles on tee boxes. I understand there occasionally being issues in the rough but on a tee box, to look down and see your shoe covered in ants is ridiculous. The greens which were recently sanded thus incredibly bumpy. Multiple bunkers with standing water. Overall the value for 82$ is ridiculous. On to the service. At registration I asked for range balls. Having expressed that I never played the course, I asked where the range was and was told over the hill.Upon going over the hill I saw a range that appeared to be closed with markers, however on the far right no markers were noted this I assumed this was the location to hit from. About 5 minutes later the course manager comes to inform us that we are on the wrong side. I let him know that this was our mistake and I had never seen a two-way range before. He began a very condescending talking down tone of voice towards our foursome. I asked him to drop the condescending tone and he eventually proceeded to tell me to f*#% off. I have never experienced a level of lack of professionalism at a golf course. Furthermore, he proceeded to have the Marshall/starter follow us on nearly 1/3 of our holes and watch us.I would highly never recommend anyone to ever play this course as the value is incredibly poor and the managers think they run Augusta national

Lets get real here.. If you are a ball-losing, foul-mouthed, five-putting, push-slicer then yes, you will hate this place. If you are a gentleman who respects himself enough to have some control over your shot-making, then you will love this place. It isnt for beginners. Unfortunately for many, even with ten or more years of experience with the game, you are still beginners or at least play and act like it. Play it forward, club down, get control of your game. You are there to play the course and you whiny types leave feeling that the course played you. AND HURRY UP if you stink at golf. I found this track challenging and aesthetically pleasing. Its links golf. Its not flat lies, its challenging. Grow up, stop blaming the course for your crappy play, get some lessons, slow your swing down, stop making up for a poor shot with three more then cursing because you stink. You need help from the club back if you whine about this track.. Love this place, cant stand the idiots who come there, however.

The driving range isnt flat from the back tee, so if they place you on the back tees to warm up dont feel like you are going to get a feel for how you are hitting the ball that day. If you have a choice of courses to play, play the Lakes Course, it is a far cry away from anything you will play locally in the area. The Lakes Course is a good layout, there are a few gimicky holes but for the most part, what you see is what you get. The course is always in pretty good shape for the amount of play it receives. The Highlands Course is always in good shape, however there are a significant amount of blind shots, pay close attention the yardage on the card and then double check it once you get to the tee box, this course is all about ball placement. Overall both courses are worth the $65 dollar fee, however beware, if you play this either courses in the afternoon you may be looking at a 5 hour round. The Marshalls at this course dont make their rounds and surely dont push pace of play.

Very Good courses!!!2nd visit to Wildcat. First visit I played on the Lakes course in (2011), this time (June 2016) I played on the Highlands course. Both courses are beautiful courses with very challenging setups. NEITHER course is for beginners. Unlike most Texas courses, these fairways are comprised of tall grasses/thick brush/marshes. In other words, if you often hit wayward shots, there is NO punching out. You will lose golf balls and drop shots unless you can manage your game here. That being said, for the better and straighter golfer, these will be great challenges offering unique views of Houston with exceptional service and moderate value provided to players.Service - Exceptional. Everyone I dealt with was overly hospitable while carrying a pleasant attitude.Value - Moderate. Not a cheap round if paying full price. But offers more as a course and facility than other similarly prices courses in Houston metro. My only 2 cons are that 1) I thought for a relatively dry 2 weeks in Houston, the fairways were wetter than they should have been. Meaning, less roll out from drives and longer 2nd shots. And 2) the bunkers were too shallow for a course of this quality. As such, many bunkers had little sand or were hard-pan bunkers with no sand. This may be due to the massive rains Houston has experienced since the Tax Day flood, but deepening the bunkers would address this. These are the only 2 reasons keeping it from a 4.5 - 5 rating.

I was able to play both courses thru a tournament sponsored by my employer. It was a wonderful experience especially for a player who just started developing his game. Course was very well-maintained but confusing at times for it felt like some of the fairways were criss-crossing. Views were awesome, staff in the pro-shops are very accommodating and pleasant. Only thing negative in my experience there was this off-duty police officer moonlighting as security staff, who called me out while returning the cart. I was returning mine together with two more gentlemen I pretty much followed their lead for they were already familiar with the course and it was getting dark. As soon as I got off the cart, this officer yelled at me, Hey! What are you doing? Why are you leaving it there? How did you get here? as if I did not belong and that I did not deserve to play there. I answered Sir, Im just dropping off the cart just like the other two gentlemen ahead of me, how come you are talking to me like that? He replied, Were you in the tournament? I nodded then he finished with you dont know what youre doing. I am Asian, the two gentlemen ahead of me was African-American and Caucasian, he did not utter a word to them as they got off their carts yet he decided to yell at me in front of the attendants who were actually laughing quietly as the officer bullied me. I just shook my head and turned around after telling him that he shouldnt talk to me like that and I walked away while he was still uttering insults, as the staff looked entertained. The officer was African-American by the way and sad to say people like him discredit people who genuinely want to be treated equally. I never played a round again in Wildcat after that for one bad attitude from one staff ruined all the good ones for me.

I will not be back to Wildcat Golf Club. They raised the green fees for 1 and I was not informed of this when making my tee time. You have to give your cc number to guarantee a tee time in case you cancel. Then when I arrive the green fees were $14 higher than 2 weeks ago. Then when I am leaving, a good hour before sundown, they have closed the gate to access the parking lot with the cart. So after paying a premium price, taking 5 hours to play a round, I have to carry all my gear to the parking lot. Which is not near the clubhouse, maybe 75 to 100 yards. Why would you pay extra for frustration ? And for that price the only marshall I saw was at the 1st tee to check my ticket to make sure I paid. Not once did we see anyone tell the group or groups in front to pick up the pace.
