We absolutely love Coach Mike. My 10 year old son wants be a pitcher. He played baseball in the fall of 2019 but he wasn’t skilled enough in pitching to be picked as a pitcher for his team and he was devastated. The coach at the time told us it was because my son had never received private pitching lessons and the other boys had, so they were picked over him. So we paid for private pitching lessons with another coach for 4 months and we saw some improvements. Even though he was doing well enough to be able to pitch in his games during the spring season, it was clear he still needed more practice and guidance with his technique and mechanics. I decided to find a new coach for my son. I searched the internet and came across Coach Mike at Torque School of Baseball and Softball. I read his reviews online and I was confident he would be the best coach for my son. So far, we have only had 1 in person session with Coach Mike and several short at home practice sessions that we send clips of to him for evaluation. He always responds with pictures, videos and anything he sees that my son needs to correct and work on. He is the most involved and caring Coach we have ever had the pleasure to work with. He pays very close attention to detail and spends time trying to show us examples of the correct way vs what my son is doing differently. He corrects and guides my son but never makes my son feel discouraged. Instead he tells him he is working hard and doing great which encourages my son to work even harder. My son absolutely loves him. He feels confident that his pitching skills will and already are improving. We highly recommend Coach Mike. He is an excellent coach and he really knows what he is doing!

My son started playing baseball two years ago and absolutely fell in love with the game. He became one of the better players in his league, but some of his flaws with the fundamentals prevented him from making the All-Star team. Weve tried a number of private coaches and endless lessons, but no one wanted to make drastic changes with kids because it takes away the short-term fun as they adjust to a new way of doing things. It was tough at first as I was committed to the adoption of sound fundamentals. By the way of a friends recommendation, we found Mike and he had the same passion and mindset of focusing on the fundamentals. My son hated the changes at first but we continued to push on the importance of mechanics and fundamentals.Six weeks with Mike and countless nights of pushing my child to buy in on the importance of proper mechanics and fundamentals. Hes now seeing results and dramatic improvements to his game.Mike came to us by ways of side conversations and ad hoc recommendations. But after six weeks of working with him, I can say without a doubt that hes a difference maker and someone you want to install the proper fundamentals of baseball to your kids. IT WILL PAY OFF!Best regards,AW

We love Coach Mike! My 12 year has been going to him for about a year. We both have learned so much about hitting. Mike embraces the parent with the child. If you are an active participant with your kids improvement, Mike is perfect for you. He knows that the parent will spend more time with the kid than any coach. He wants us both to learn. Its true. If you arent videoing the mechanics, you wont be able to see the flaws. My son went from a decent little league hitter to a very good contact hitter.UPDATE: We continue to work with Coach Mike. Hes like a swing doctor. Sees the problem and immediately has a solution. Coach tries to find out what works for my son and finds a phrase/a drill/a thought that seems to work for him. Not all drills work for every kid.

Ill admit I was a little nervous about what to expect, but I will say that I was thoroughly impressed with coach Mike. His attention to the details really helped open my eyes to a lot of things I was not seeing. My son is 9 and has been playing baseball for 3 years. Hes really athletic but struggles with the fundamentals and I must say coach Mike really knows what hes doing. Very patient, great communicator and positive. Thanks coach Mike. We will be back.

HOW TO GO FROM 0-3 TO 3-3 WITH POWER IN 1 WEEK!!!In the process of working on hitting for power, my 16U son lost his .400 + hitting for average. The answer from both of his hitting coaches was more time in the cages repeating the same drills which were producing the same poor results. After 5 months of this, I had to find something different. Something which would help my son understand and SEE the mechanics of hitting, and more specifically, HIS MECHANICS. I wanted to find a Coach who focused on the mechanics through video analysis. I found Mike and after our first lesson, I knew we had found THE COACH! In our first session we learned, and watched frame by frame, my sons mechanics, compared to MLB player mechanics, frame by frame and started understanding his swing on a more fundamental level and learned how to produce power and average at the plate. All in the first session! In addition to frame by frame fundamental break down, Mike helped my son understand the pitchers mechanics, what to look for in the pitcher to aid him as a hitter. This was a HUGE PLUS. Ultimately, we had two lessons in the span of 6 days and some T work on our own between the lessons which Mike reviewed video of and provided immediate, corrective, feedback. From these two sessions, we headed to our first tournament, committed to the fundamentals learned and produced a 3-3 SOLID at bat performance. I wish we would have started on this path years ago!!! And we are just getting started.....More to follow.....

I highly recommended Coach Mike! He truly understands how to bring out the potential in any level of player and delivers his coaching in such a way that brings the person (not just the athlete) to a higher level. My son learned so much in just a single lesson. He gained the confidence to pitch in a game and rocked it! Most important, he had FUN AGAIN! Be cautious and aware of who you let train your child. Negativity can squash even the strongest mind. Coach Mike understands the mental side of baseball. He knows how to relay what needs to be addressed in a positive manner that allows potential and improvement to be front runner. If you son wants to excel in baseball - the investment with Coach Mike is well worth it. He can teach serious baseball skills while instilling the fun side too! Baseball is a game and is meant to be fun. However - it is much more fun when you learn to play with confidence, knowledge, get off the bench, and get the opportunity to show your skills and earn a roster spot. You will be amazed what your son will learn with Coach Mike. He knows all aspects of the game and has improved my sons batting, throwing, catching, pitching, and baseball IQ. My son is serious about baseball and the lessons with Coach Mike have been a game changer! If your son wants to play baseball - have him learn from the best! It made me happy to hear my son say how much fun he had playing again and see his hard work show on the field. Thanks Coach we appreciate everything youre doing!!!

Coach Mike is an amazing trainer he has a keen understanding of baseball not quite like I have ever seen before! I encourage you to take your son or daughter to him, be ready though Mom or Dad..I promise.. you are going to learn something too! Our son Robert Charles has been going to coach Mike since he was in the 9th grade. Our son is going into his sophomore year in college now and currently playing summer collegiate ball. He was not quite hitting with the power we are used to seeing, so we felt he needed to go see coach Mike. I had taken a video of Robert Charles hitting the ball and immediately coach Mike identified what the issue was. Something so simple..! He had our son show him his swing and recorded him before and after. Amazing.. Robert Charles is back on track and we are so thankful to coach Mike! I cant say enough good things about him, dont hesitate or delay go see coach Mike. You will be happy with the results!

Mike is a fantastic coach and connects well with my son. My son Matthew has excellent natural athletic abilities, but it has been difficulty finding him the right instructor. Other coaches have provided repetition which is helpful but not enough. He needs clear instruction on ways he can improve.Mikes use of video taping in his instruction and his deep understanding of the mechanics of hitting and pitching is big change from other coaches I have witnessed. His ability to convey this message to an impatient, distracted kid is wonderful. My son has had numerous other baseball coaches. He has spent countless hours in lessons with poor results and frustration at the lack of improvement.Mike breaks down the mechanics of hitting and started with a wooden paddle and soft plastic balls to focus on good swing mechanics. My son loves hitting balls in the backyard with this paddle. This has changed his batting swing. This will translate into solid line drive hits versus the frequent soft contact hits and pop flys he has had in the past. When my son expressed a interest in pitching, I was at a loss as I had no prior experience knowing how to pitch. It has been a more difficulty road to develop good pitching mechanics but I believe the lessons involving working with Mike to tweet my sons delivery mechanics will pay big dividends in the future. Mike is very aware of the reality of injury to young developing arms and focuses on developing good form and proper mechanics to minimize stress to the arms and shoulder. Overall I highly recommend this coach.

My son has had shoulder issues for a couple of years and was getting pretty frustrated. I tried to help him, but he no longer was listening to dad. We knew he needed advice and Coach Mike was the perfect coach. Through video analysis and working with my son; Coach Mike diagnosed, explained and provided a plan to help him with his throwing mechanics. The improvement on the field was immediate. The improvement my son showed mentally was huge. He now drags me to the practice field to work on the issues he discussed with Coach Mike. He is watching video of other players and comparing them to his mechanics. He is preparing for games in advance and not just showing up. You can see that he is employing the things he has learned in his lessons. My goal was to provide my son with the information on mechanics so he can throw pain free. My expectations were exceeded. My son is no longer frustrated and is enjoying playing baseball again. He is back on the mound and throwing well. He can now throw a complete game pain-free and he is throwing harder in the last inning than he did in the first inning without issues. Thanks Coach Mike!

If you are truly looking for help in getting your son or daughter to the next level and actually understanding how to pitch or hit I highly recommend Coach Mike Skoutelakis. We have been through 7-8 coaches through the years with my son getting lessons from age 9 in pitching , hitting being told throw this way , move this way , focus , hold the bat this way. No explaining proper form on why you throw or hit the way your are instructed to do. No explaining what is wrong or why the correction. Not understanding how to fix what is wrong. Well we finally found the right coach whom understands the mechanics of pitching and hitting and can not only tell you why the correct mechanics work. Mike can show you by video showing the why and showing the correct mechanics to succeed.Mike has been working with my son who just turned 13 for only a couple weeks now and I can already see significant improvement in his pitching mechanics. My son has also noticed that the correct mechanics has not only improved his pitching velocity and accuracy, his arm no longer hurts to the point he could not throw normal pitch and catch after a weekend .He now can pitch a weekend and after a few days rest he is ready to go again. Implementing video and allowing players to see what they are asked to do makes training for younger players less frustrating. Mike is a superb instructor and I highly recommend him. Mike is a patient teacher who uses video analysis to help my son truly visualize his opportunities to get better. Mike can also help players work through the frustrations of being a pitcher when all goes wrong as well hitting where frustration can set in quickly. Mikes individualized techniques truly produce immediate results, and most importantly, helped my son have fun on the field playing baseball. Highly Recommended !Thank you, Mike , I/We are very happy we have found you!

My son began working with Mike almost a year ago, after we watched his accuracy, and eventually confidence, steadily decline at the plate. After just ONE session, he was already a smarter, more accurate batter. Mike changed my son’s entire approach to batting: no more “watching it all the way in” or “swing at the strikes.” My son found not only his own personal “sweet spot,” but also learned how to make the pitcher work harder to get him out! As an added bonus, Mike has taken my son’s pitching mechanics to a new level and turned it into an injury-free form with increased accuracy and speed. Mike is patient, and incredibly encouraging...and teaches unique, pro-level technique while making sure the player has fun. I highly recommend and encourage you to take your struggling, or very skilled player to see Mike.

Mike was able to turn my kids baseball career around. My son was a good hitter all the way until he turned 13. Then 2 years of terrible hitting. We didnt know what was going on. He is an elite defender and towards the middle of his freshman highschool season he was benched because of his hitting. After the season he went to play with his travel team who would be playing in Perfect Game tournaments and we needed to do something. So I reached out to Mike and he asked me to send some videos of my son hitting and asked us to come in Friday evening for instruction. Mike new instantly what his issue was and began working with my son. Fast forward to the following day and WOW! My son goes 5 for 6 for the weekend. With 2 doubles and 3 singles. We found out afterwards the coach was making cuts and my son would have been one of them without this performance. Go see Mike. You wont be disappointed.

Mike started working with my then 9-year-old, and we could see an almost immediate difference in Ben’s swing. Mike’s technique of breaking down the baseball movements matched perfectly with my son’s analytical nature. The major corrections Mike had Ben make gave us results quickly. However, it was after a year of working with Mike that the magic started to happen. His swing became even more consistent, and that brought him so much confidence. Ben feels a sense of control at the plate, and this confidence and technique means that he continues to truly love playing baseball and is a solid, dependable team member, which is all we really want for our son.

For anyone looking for the right hitting instructor to help take your son to the next level you can stop right here with Coach Mike.My son has developed into a good contact hitter over the years using travel ball hitting coaches but is now ready to bring his swing to the next level to prepare for high school. I knew I needed to find the most knowledgeable, experienced, professional, prepared, hitting instructor available and was lucky enough to find Coach Mike.Coach Mike is able to go way beyond throwing a bucket of balls for 30 minutes while correcting hand position and foot spacing. He teaches you how to mentally focus on the art of hitting.By using video playback, Coach Mike will throw several pitches while your son hits and then stop and pull you into the cage with your son and review in super slow-motion the good and the bad swings and compare them with professional swings that most resemble your sons swing to see where it needs to improve. With one-on-one conversation he explains in detail the mental aspect of hitting by explaining what to look for early, middle, and deep in the count, and how to incorporate that into your sons skillset. He identifies your sons strengths and encourages him to develop them even further as well as the weaknesses in his swing and immediately corrects them.It is amazing how quickly he sees something wrong and can correct it and then give you a drill to take home and work on it to fix the issue. The things you learn from Mike you will not learn from just anyone else and that is why he is worth every dollar. In just a few sessions with my son he has improved his swing by adding consistent contact to all fields and a lot more power. That is the biggest thing, the power. He is a smaller boy but he is crushing with power, more than I ever thought possible. That is a direct correlation with his instruction on how to see the ball. The things you learn from Mike are specialized but are well worth the money. He took this swing to the World Series and finished with a .680 batting average and received team MVP.I highly recommend Coach Mike for your Hitting or Pitching instruction for your child that you may need. It was the best move that I have made as a parent, I just wish I had done it four years ago.Committed ParentTimothy W.

The video taping and in the moment feedback using film creates a first hand clear forum for applying techniques and critiquing them timely so adjustments can be made during practice. My son is a very good athlete, but had been struggling at the plate for a good while. He had a very hard time being consistent and was striking out too much. He was not as confident as he had been in the past. After analyzing his swing mechanics Mike was able to see the holes in his swing. Coach Mike quickly made suggestions that my son could easily understand and implement. Mike is an expert in video analysis and would in detail go over Luke’s swing and breakdown what he needed to do differently. The combination of verbal instruction backed by video breakdown is the only way to learn efficiently and retain it. Luke responded immediately. Coach also was adamant and spent ample time on teaching him about pitch selection at the plate and not swinging at pitches randomly. Mike talks a lot about having a plan at the plate. This was as important as hitting mechanics to Luke. After just one session Luke went 4 for 6 in his two game tourney that weekend. Most importantly his swing was immeasurably improved over prior games in recent times. He made solid contact and barreled up several hard line drives.Again.... this was after one lesson. We worked with Mike all season and the results were that Luke lead his time in walks for the first time .... had the fewest strikeouts on his team for the first time ... was third in OBP and still hit almost .400. Luke is still working with Coach and is learning more and more. His confidence at the plate is awesome as is his actual understanding of what hitting is about for the first time.Luke also has a very “live arm” and pitches. I decided to let Coach Mike analyze his pitching motion motion as well.I was concerned that Luke’s mechanics were not what they needed to be. If your child is a pitcher you owe it to him or her to make sure they are taught properly so as to make sure they do not get injured unnecessarily.Again, Mike found the flaws in his motion thorough his eyes and the eyes of the video camera. He immediately implemented changes that were on point and protected my son’s throwing arm.His accuracy has improved and his velocity went up to where he is consistently hitting 70 mph on his fastball.... not bad for a 13 year old, but most importantly he can do it safely!Luke has more confidence at the plate and on the mound. Coach Mike gets it done. He cares and knows how to help your child improve while being safe at the same time. Oh... by the way.... your kids will have a LOT MORE FUN playing baseball when they are taught properly and professionally. Thanks Coach!Regards,Craig H

My son Jacob is a 15u elite travel ball player/ high school player. He was always a very good hitter with lots of power, but right about the time he turned 14 his hitting deteriorated to the point where he went from a three-holehitter to a seven to nine hole hitter. I knew it was a mechanics problem, but neither I nor his hitting coaches were able to get him over the hump.I started a desperate search for someone who had the answer to his problems and it led me to Coach Mike at Torque baseball. I have to say that at first I was very skeptical and concerned that Coach Mike might not be the answerto Jacob’ issues. My skepticism was short-lived because my son started to hit the ball consistently and with power right away. He worked hard to firmly establish the mechanics that Mike taught him through video analysis and instruction. He has improved steadilyand finds himself back as a three/four-hole hitter. Not only that, but he understands his mechanics now and is able to make immediate adjustments based on feedback from the results of his swings. An aside for those of you who have high school players: Some high school coaches may try to change to change your kids swing. Most of these guys are not professional hitting instructors, they have no idea what good swing mechanicsare. My son was having great success with Coach Mike but his high school coach thought he knew better and made him change his swing. Towards the end of spring season while he was 10 years old of playing ball we lost his father to cancer. My son suited up and played a game the very night after loosing his father that day. He did not want to let down his team. QHe was ultimately selected for ALL-STARS and ultimately went to the playoffs to chase a championship! My son was strong. That same year he went on to play Fall Ball but walked off the field never to return. It was devastating not to see his dad there. I didnt push the issue because I saw his pain. Fast Foward to Easter Sunday of this year ( age 13 ) while sitting in church, he leans over and whispers in my ear Im ready to play again He went on to play Select Ball and it became very clear my son had a set back. The game never stopped. His defense was still there but he struggled in batting. I knew I had to do something. I went online headed home from a tournament where I watched him strike out the entire game. The MOM in me kicked in... I did my homework and online searching. AND THERE HE WAS!!! COACH MIKE!!! Believe me when Coach Mike says 100% Guarantee! Its just that! BELIEVE HIM! My son has a new found love for the game. The knowledge & years of studying that Coach Mike has is that like nothing else we have ever experienced in any other personal training. My son is confident, Coach Mike takes the time to teach in a way that my son will not just learn but retain. Our very first session, seeing the videos and what was causing the strike outs. I knew then Coach Mike was the real deal! I dont feel like Im just paying for batting lessons, I feel 100% confident I as a parent are investing in my sons future. He will be trying out for Freshman baseball in the Spring. Coach, we can not thank you enough!

They focus on your specific swing and what you need to do to improve your swing and not just random things like “choke up” or “move up in the box”. Coach Mike is patient and insiteful and has a very demonstrative use of video footage to slow down and focus on certain aspects of your swing.RSC

My husband and I have seen a difference and improvement since our son starting working with Coach Mike. His baseball coach even noticed an improvement after his first session. We really liked the fact that you bring a thumbdrive and Coach Mike records the session, that way once we get home we can watch it with our son and he can see what he’s doing right/wrong and what he needs to improve on Coach Mike even stops during the session to show our son what he’s doing right/wrong, he is VERY thorough with his training. Our son has improved a lot in his pitching.A++++++

My 8 year old son started lessons with Mike near the end of the spring season. The first session was at 6pm on a Friday for 60 minutes. As difficult as it is to believe, he hit much better starting the very next day in his tournament. The coach acknowledged how well he it and how much that contributed to the teams success. He has continued to work with Mike and continues to hit well since. More importantly, he wants to put in the work at home between lessons because he is seeing the fruits of his labor. No better life lesson than that for an 8 year old to learn from playing a game.

I’m entering a very competitive baseball high school and wanted to be ready. Coach Mike has helped me to make more consistent line drive contact and has taught me how to thinkvat the plate. He has also taught me how to ready myself for an at batcor a certain pitch. He has helped me make proper mechanics with my pitching for more velocity, better location and help my arm not hurt.

My son, who is 13, had been having a tough time batting this season. Over the years, we have used several batting instructors, some too technical and others too vague. Mike strikes the perfect balance in this regard. He has the unique ability to translate technical concepts into easy to understand terms for young athletes. Using detailed video analysis he quickly identified the issues with his swing and used specific, progressive drills to alter muscle memory, helping to correct the problems. In just two sessions, he had him hitting again and driving in runs!! Not only does Mike correct the physical issues but also works extensively on the mental game- hitting approach and also has great tips for dealing with adversity. Thanks to Mike we were able to salvage this season and my sons confidence is soaring! He will be our go to guru from now on!

Coach Mike,Just wanted to say thanks to you for all of the work you have put in with the boys this year. I had been using a few different other guys to do lessons with my sons over the last few years and have just never been happy with the outcome. Nobody ever used video to teach them and show them how to hit and pitch. In today’s world I just thought that was crazy. Then we started coming to you for lessons a couple of months before the 2018 season…..and finally the boys could see what they were doing both right and wrong……and slowly start to fix issues. That is important……but even more important in my opinion is that you offer much more including teaching the mental approach to the game, maintaining the right attitude, how to approach an at-bat, etc. Both boys have improved greatly this year and you are a huge part of that. They are performing better than ever and even more importantly are more confident than ever before as well. Thanks a bunch!Sam Moore

Mike:Like many younger brothers, my nine year old son lived in the shadow of his very talented and hyper-competitive 12 year old brother. As a result he generally had fun just being part of the team but did not have much interest in the team’s or his personal performance.About nine months ago he told his mom and I that he wanted to see coach Mike like his brother and we quickly agreed. From the first day I saw three things:  (1) he loved hanging with Coach Mike who joked and teased with him in order to keep his focus and attention, (2) he is a big and coordinated kid who’s completely coachable and (3) he wanted to be a better player.Today he won’t let a ground ball get by him and quickly throws the ball to the right location resulting in a couple of put outs at first and 5 assists from the outfield on runners trying to score from first or second on a base hit. And while a ball in the air continues to be a work in progress he willingly puts in the effort to improve. That alone would be success. But the real excitement is at the plate where he is batted over 500 for the season and finished third on his team with 17 RBIs. And his hits weren’t ground balls where a play wasn’t made, they were legitimate pops including one game with an inside pitch hammered down the 3rd baseline for a double and a line drive gapper between left and center for a double and a sharp back up the middle single to round out the day. Most importantly, he is really enjoyed his season and received numerous compliments from his brother who says P hammers the ball. Thanks Mike—maybe the picture he had me take of you and him on the first day may be worth something someday?  It’s already been worth the time and money for me to see him enjoy success in addition to enjoying being part of a team.PJPJuly 4, 2018

Have you heard these at your local little league practices: “Watch the ball”, “Swing Flatter”, “Squish the bug”, and are still wondering why your child is striking out or hitting the ball weakly on the ground? It is because most little leaguecoaches are dad’s trying their best to be a baseball coach (myself included) with very little technical knowledge. You can’t teach what you don’t know. I took my son to Mike, in the middle of February 2017, because we fit in this category. We like to practice- but we weren’t practicing effectively. We worked on sequencing and shortening the swing at our first lesson. This was all done with video and visual reinforcement - which my son and myself find helpful to understand the concepts that are being discussed. For reference, my son (9yo) is not a superstar - avg hitter and fielder. After one lesson, my son had a game the next day and lined 3 shots to the OF. Small sample size. Haven’t had another game since due to weather. He does look like a different hitter nowthat he has a swing thought/process at the plate. We have really enjoyed sending our daily video to Mike and getting a prompt response on corrections necessary. It’s like having a swing doctor on call! I think the video is invaluable and that was why I choseMike in the first place. I will say - I thought these testimonials were bogus. But they are not. They are regular people like me looking for a better time on the baseball fields with our boys.R. G.March 2017

Baseball is a tough sport both mentally and physically. And “being a good athlete” doesn’t guarantee success for your son - especially if his fundamentals are flawed. We wanted to give Sam the best chance at success and knew that he needed to learn the rightway from the start. Mike’s vast wealth of knowledge and keen eye for detail quickly identified the early flaws in Sam’s swing. His encouraging demeanor and recommendations were quickly adopted by my son and we saw instant improvement. We quickly advanced tothe mentality of batting once Sam’s swing became more reproducible and productive. Sam now understands what pitches to look for in certain counts within each at bat and what to do with those pitches when they are thrown. Sam can now make adjustments DURINGan at bat to prevent strikeouts and generate more quality at bats.Using all parts of the field and protecting different parts of the plate are concepts that few coaches ever discuss with 9 or 10 year olds. Mike’s knowledge and teaching has made Sam a much more confident batter and has led to many more quality at batsand memorable hits.Sam’s confidence and knowledge of the mental aspects of batting has made him enjoy baseball more than ever whether he is playing or watching the Astros play. Thanks Mike for all your guidance and encouragement.Steve MahoneyMay 23, 2018

TORQUE Baseball, Houston TX | Private Baseball Lessons | Pitching Instructor | Hitting InstructorMy relationship with Mike dates back 20+ years now as our baseball paths crossed at Broward Community College in the mid 1980s. While both our baseball lives have weaved different ways over time, Mikes work ethic and pursuit of baseball knowledge has not slowed. Whether your sons ultimate ceiling in this game is at the high school level, college level, or even the Major Leagues it is imperative that the development your sons skills are shaped by someone that can get the most out of his natural ability. The development of every player is very much influenced by his instructors and you dont always have a chance to select whose hands your sons future may be shaped by. Mikes understanding and ability to teach the fundamentals skills that are applicable at the highest levels of our game should be taken advantage of by Houstonians who wish to maximize their sons ability.Bobby HeckSpecial Assistant to the GMTampa Bay Raysformer Assistant GM, Scouting Director of the Houston Astros

Count your blessings when you find Mike Skoutelakis! We have been counting our blessings for over three years. Mike is a student of baseball who continues to study and learn the game. He has an extensive catalog of video and pictures of major league players, past and present, to show as examples for all aspects of hitting and pitching. Each session is videoed and analyzed during the session for immediate feedback. If your son or daughter is analytical and interested in improving their performance, Mike talks directly to them. He then reinforces with you. When our grandson was eleven, he was playing for a select team and the coach was telling him to hit differently. He is a “people-pleaser” so he tried to hit one way for the coach and the right way with Mike. Basically, he would get to the plate in a game and lock up. We made the difficult decision to take a break from sessions with Mike. Our grandson began to hit again; however, we realized that being told “too much top hand” wasn’t preparing him for the next level of pitching he would be facing. As soon as the contract was over, we were back with Mike.Pitching is our greatest concern. If a young pitcher does not learn to throw correctly, he can damage his arm permanently. Mike has a sincere desire to teach young pitchers correctly. He understands the implications of poor positioning, timing, and follow through. As with batting, he uses video and pictures of pitchers, past and present, to demonstrate how to pitch properly. Mike videos each pitching session and reviews it with you and your child to point out how to improve his motion and protect his arm.Training is not limited to the session at the facility. Mike encourages you to send him video of your child during an actual game. He analyzes the video and responds with comments. This then is used to enhance future training sessions.Mike is a trainer who understands kids. He is amazingly patient. Our grandson was nine when we started with Mike. Like all kids, he wants to have fun. Once, he had a new Frisbee and wanted to toss it at a lesson. Mike used the Frisbee to teach about the hitting motion. Now, at almost thirteen, our grandson will bring an idea to a session and Mike will consider it, then if it won’t be harmful, try to use the idea. Generally, our grandson figures out that his idea doesn’t work. Mike is part of the community we have chosen to assist us in developing our grandson into a man of integrity.Kyle and Priscilla Owens

Coach Mike was able to quickly identify a few mechanical issues in my swing, and had good drills to help me improve quickly. He uses a lot of video in his lessons, which allowed me to see my mechanicla issues, and better see the improvement. Coach Mike has improved my baseball IQ significantly, through our discussions of pitch expectations and sequences. I would recommend him as a batting coach to anyone in middle school and above.Ford LancasterStratford Highschool

When I first brought my son Coleman to coach Mike here at Torque Baseball my so was almost 15 years old and had been pitching since he was 9. Coleman had always been a good pitcher, not with a dominant fastball but with location and mixing up pitch type. For about a year he had struggled with location and started having pain in his pitching arm and landing knee after only a few innings so could not go deep in games and sometime did not play the next day. During the initial session Mike had identified several issues that needed correcting and explained them as we reviewed the video that mike does for all his lessons. Mike showed my son and me the correct mechanics through photos and videos of MLB players and how to correct each problem. After only two lessons and countless reps with the correct mechanics my son was feeling better on the mound and was able to stay in longer without his arm or knee hurting and was able to play the field the next day. We continue to go to Mike for pitching to fine tune his pitching mechanics. We also started going for batting lessons he had always been a singles hitter and a double now and again. Now he is hitting line drives to the gaps and over out fielders heads to the fence for doubles and triples. As a senior in high school he would continually go 6-7 inning as a starter. He has several doubles and triples in the book. Coleman went on to play for Sul Ross State University as a pitcher. He finished his college career this season. He did really well playing all 4 years as a reliever. He has now moved on to professional baseball in the Pecos League where he plays for the Alpine Cowboys as a RHP/OF.Mike, thanks again for giving him the instruction needed to succeed.Any player that wants to step up their game would benefit from even one lesson with Mike. Thanks, MikeGreg RamseyAlvin, TX.

My name is John Toale and I have known Mike (Skooter) since 1980. For 3 years I knew Mike as a great competitor playing against him in High School and Summer League Baseball. In 1983, I was drafted by the Boston Red Sox as the 47th Pick, in the 2nd Round. I chose to sign professionally, in lieu of playing at Florida State University. I did however, attend FSU as a student every fall semester. It is here that I was able to spend some very quality time with Mike. As Mike was also at FSU, and on the baseball team, this is where I truly came to appreciate Mikes knowledge of the game and his insight in to the fundamentals needed to advance as a professional hitter. I spent many days and hours working directly with Mike and talking about hitting for hours on end. As a professional baseball player for 13 years, I have encountered many hitting coaches with Major League experience. I consider Mike to be an excellent student of the game and give him my highest recommendation for any young player hoping to improve his/her skills with the hopes of eventually playing college, and professional baseball.
