Shop local for your art supplies and framing! I used to shop at your big box stores for art supplies, and they dont compare to shopping at a local store like Jerrys Artarama that has been around for many years. I have never seen such a great array and selection of quality canvases of all shapes, sizes, and medium. It is the same story for acrylic paints, oil paints, brushes, graphite, pastel, chalk, pens, markers, etc etc etc. Truly an artists haven this place is. There is also a section for framing so after you draw, paint your pieces you can have them custom framed. Such a great store, support local.

I’m not an artist but I drove my Dad and girlfriend who are both avid artists here and they loved it. It seemed like the selection was really good as well as the quality of the supplies.The guy working the register was really helpful to my Dad and had a lot of good advice for him on some of his projects. They have a VIP program that you can join that offers discounts. The location is nice too because it’s right off I-10 in the center of town.

I used to be an avid shopper or Texas Art Supply... before I found Jerrys. Not only can I get amazing art supplies, they have amazing prices PLUS a discount card! And they offer custom framing! Weve had many prints framed there for our office and each piece is so beautiful. I am definitely a customer for life. I cannot recommend their framing service enough!

This is the most awesome art-supply store Ive ever been to, and while Im not a professional (just a dabbler, ha ha) -- I am so incredibly grateful that Houston has Jerrys. Products represent a diverse array of cost options, and there is a big clearance aisle that has some great deals. In the midst of quarantine, Jerrys is an oasis.Additionally, its well-organized, clean (yet not too pristine, so people feel comfortable to let their artist-hair down), inviting (great music piped in!)...and the employees are stellar. I was asked by a kind young woman if I had all that I needed, then I proceeded to stalk the aisles (obsessively). The gentleman at the register was also incredibly sweet, immediately offering me a Jerrys VIP card to save me $$, and coming out around the back of the counter to hand me my bag.

I am so grateful for Emily and the entire staff at Jerrys here in Houston. I was in the store the last day they were open to the public, the first day they did pick up, and the first day they reopened and having that resource now in 2020 at the height of the pandemic has been a literal life-saver. People are hurting and art can help.Thanks Emily and everyone there for setting up a functional system and always being cheerful at having our business. I was a really difficult customer today, but the staff and manager were all very kind and accomodating whenever possible. I’d been purchasing the large sheets of paper elsewhere bc they didn’t used to wrap them up- there was one horrifying instance where expensive fabriano artistico was ruined by the time I got home. But they seemed to have resolved that so I’ll be buying there again. The manager even helped me carry my bulky Matboard out and helped me reconfigure my backseat to make sure it didn’t get dented or bent. REALLY appreciated all the help. It’s easy to be nice to a random polite customer but it’s when a difficult (polite :-)) customer has a bunch of special requests, that’s when an art stores’ medal is truly tested! Thanks you guys! Keep up the good work.

All the employees are knowledgeable and if they cant give you an answer on the spot, they go look it up for you until there is a solution. Amazing place. Staff knows their stuff, and are extremely helpful. Out of all the art stores Ive been to, Ive never seen Copic Markers at such an affordable price. Everything is also neat, organized, and ready to go. If youre in the Houston area, and are into art, definitely visit here. You wont regret it.

Great price on unprimed heavy duck. Now you might say, why a duck, why not a chicken? Well, what do you have against ducks? It’s a great price, I say! It’s less than half what that art store on Montrose charges for their duck.

Love this place!!! They always have what I need for a project and then some. I recently went in for brush tip pens and they had so many options. Great prices here and great products. Sometimes it can be hard to find a sales associate but once you do they are with you until you’ve got everything that you need!

I only shop here whenever I need materials in a pinch, that said, I almost am always surprised by how even the most minute purchases trend toward being more expensive than Texas Art Supply. In addition to that, the canvas I purchased most recently was severely warped in two corners and once I applied paint to surface it became apparent that the overall composition was going to be seriously wanting in representation. One might say it is my responsibility to check that the canvas isnt warped before purchase and my reply is that I actually searched the inventory and bought the least warped one! I thought I could work through it but the surface quality is seriously lacking. Considering the price I paid and the overall low quality of their product I cant see myself shopping there even for the most badly needed art supplies. Thats why I can only offer a one star review.

Went to paint for the first time, loved the atmosphere, friendly people. It was very clean. I got to see several artists studios and their art work was beautiful. I cant wait to go back.

The employees here are remarkable with their courtesy and vast knowledge. Daniel, the manager is simply fantastic, he goes out of his way to assist with any complex questions I have about complicated materials and procedures, such as raw pigments. Claire is also great, always so kind and courteous behind the register, making sure all discounts are given.I want to point out that this store is the only retailer for the French legendary Charvin paints, exact same formulas that Monet used to paint his Water Lillies.I was able to buy a rare Charvin Pochade box full of paints, brushes, and a pallet for my grand daughters birthday, something I would have had to make a trip to the South of France for. She is already an experienced painter and this made for a rare, once in a lifetime gift she will pass down to her children one day.They also carry Art District, the student brand of a different French paint company, Golden, Winsor & Newton, and more, you name it, and in giant sizes.The art pencil and pen selection, as well as rare pastels, is second to none.I also recommend for serious artists to sign up as a VIP so you get an additional 10% off purchases, AND be sure and catch their yearly black Friday sale. I was able to purchase a 1,500$ 12 ft roll of heavy cotton duck, primered Winsor & Newton canvas, 30 feet for 200$ because of the massive BF sale, almost 90% with the VIP membership.Artists dont ignore this place! Its new location is conveniently located near the Silos art warehouse district.

I love the idea of a local art store but they are consistently out of stock of the items I need. What is even the point of carrying stretcher bars if you are going to let your stock become this dismal? It has been this way for years.

Customer since 2012, Jerrys products are good quality, however, not the quality of the framing and phone service. I decided to have a framing job for the first time and take advantage of the huge frame sale. Called once to check on the status and the man who answered hang up without any explanation. Called again, a lady answered, and she told me that the framer is gone for the day. I asked, Why did the guy who answered a few seconds ago didnt told me and instead hung up? I wouldve appreciated being informed that the framer had left. The lady told me to hold, but from the sounds I heard through the phone she placed the phone on the counter and continued a conversation she was having with someone else and then picked up the phone and told me to call tomorrow. I was not impressed by that, but I decided to call a few days later, and manage to contact the framer. Framer said, Ill check on it and Ill call back in 15 minutes That didnt happened, he called days later, and he did tried to make it up when he called back for the day for the pick up. During that conversation he said my frames and matting will be done on a monday and he will be there. I arrived on Monday, was not aware that the framers are not available when the store opens, had to wait 30 minutes, wasnt even told when the framer arrived, the framer who arrived wasnt even the assigned framer, and upon investigating, my frames are not completed. Theres no notes of the job and the assigned framer didnt answered the phone when the employee tried to contact him. In summary, products are good, service is bad. Ill continue my shopping, but Ill rely and expect less from the employees.

Exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wide array of supplies. Saw some of the older posts which reflected that the store was often out of supplies. This was probably during the move from willowbrook to the current location when they understandably stocked down to make the move easier. Haven’t noticed problems recently. My only issue is how far away this shop is from where I live. They do offer delivery service and at least the new location is near the off ramp of I10.

Buyer beware! Be sure you keep your receipt if you buy a gift certificate, since when the cashier fails to put any actual money on it, they insist on a receipt to correct THEIR error. The fact that gift cards are not accessible to the public (so obviously SOME money must have been put on the card) was irrelevant to them. Being a long-term customer was also irrelevant to them. We will certainly never shop there again.

On last Monday, we went to Jerrys to have a picture framed. There were only a few customers in the store, and the man attending the framing department, was immediately available to us. He was knowledgeable, professional, and very personal.However, a young tattooed woman came bustling over to the framing department to take over, even though we were the only customers in that area. We said we had travelled quite a long way to get there and hoped Jerrys could frame our picture for us. This woman said there were many customers in line before us so wed have to leave it and come back. There were no customers there except us. The man who was actually in charge said nothing about the false information the young woman was giving us. But instead, he very calmly offered to help us find the framing materials wed need, ignoring the tattooed womans comments.The man suggested we might do a little shopping before hed have our materials ready for us, so we did.A little later he brought the professionally finished framed picture to us at the checkout counter, where Miss Tattoo was ready to check us out. Her parting shot to us was that people who were in line before us had to wait because of us.It was interesting to see that Jerrysartarama has employed such an extreme range of employees, one who was so irritating and negative enough to drive customers away, yet another who was mature enough to ignore the rude employee and just carry out his work in such a professional manner. Kudos to him. Im sorry we didnt get his name, but he was the only black man that we saw employed at Jerrys.The man earned 5 stars, but Miss Tatoo didnt even earn 1.

THE FRAMING AT JERRYS IS THE WORST -- they take unprofessional to the next level. After dropping off my order, and waiting 7 weeks for it to be fulfilled, and being told over the phone that the order was *almost* ready (twice), I was informed that they couldnt manufacture the frames in the size we had already agreed upon and that I would have to come back in to start the process over. Uh, what?! However, I blame myself. I wanted to shave a few bucks off framing some inexpensive pieces, so I went with Jerrys. Nearly 8 weeks later, Im off to collect my still unframed pieces. Ill take them to a proper framer. Do yourself a favor -- dont go to Jerrys for your framing needs.

The store to go too if you paint, draw, sculpt and etc. really knowledgeable people who are great to ask questions about your art and trying new materials. I got some cool gifts for my birthday that was a pleasant surprise!

I don’t understand why you would paint over the art on the building is it not a art store! The puke blue takes away from the neighborhood! The street art was true to the district!

Its so awesome to have an art supply store at this end of town and Jerrys manager and staff go out of their way to be helpful. The supply is excellent and prices are reasonable. And their store hours fit well with my lifestyle. What more could I ask?

I sew the pretty pictures on line and thought, (Wow!) they have lot of art supplies. But, that was not the case. The store did not look anything like the pictures form online. They were not fully stocked at all, lots of empty space. The one thing that I was glad to see and buy, it looks like someone try to use it and returned it. The people in the store are very nice and friendly.

I started going to Jerrys back when they were still at their Willowbrook location and continued to go even when they moved to Taylor Street even though its about 30 minutes farther for me because their prices are GREAT and their people are GREATER. I came in looking for a watercolor palette and they honored a much lower price tag that the palette was placed under. (Upon further research later I realized the price was only for the metal watercolor box and not the half pans that were, for some reason, already in the boxes, so i basically got 12 Kremer half pans for FREE) and theyre so understanding and helpful when looking. Ill always give them all of my art business and you should too!

I have a channel on You Tube and teach art to beginners. I always send them to Jerrys my jerrys in Houston because I know what they need WILL be there, the price will be good, and the staff will treat them well. This is a special place!

Their custom framing service was exponentially better quality then the big box stores. It was a bit more pricey but with a VIP card you can get deals, and it was worth the extra money because the quality was so much better.

Guy on the phone told me they had something they didnt, so I made a plan and drove (from quite far away) down to get it with my soon-to-expire Groupon. (I kind of suspect it was the manager who other reviews have warned about.) However, the girl at the counter came to my rescue - she let me buy everything, including the item they didnt have at the time, with my Groupon, and then let me come back and pick up the other later on. I would recommend calling and being very, very clear if youre looking for something in particular, and they can order things for you if they dont have them. Good prices, pretty good selection despite that experience, and yeah, especially nice with a Groupon. (Theyve had them twice so far.)

As a new art student, so when I walked into Jerrys I was blown away by the vast amount of art supplies carried. When I walked in, I was greeting by a very friendly employee who walked around the entire store with me to help me find what I was looking for. At that point I was sold. I didnt get to catch the name, but thank you for helping me (because I had no clue what I was looking for).
