After being out of archery for many years I stopped by to check out what they had. I was impressed by their customer service, they let me shoot a few models, and i ended up buying a complete package ready to shoot at a VERY reasonable price. They’re always willing to answer all my questions, and have offered me a lot of advise. They’re good people.

West Houston Archery is a fantastic place to go for first time bow buyers! My husband and I walked in to get his bow strung and to purchase my first ever bow. Rich has helped us every time we’ve gone in and is very knowledgeable. He takes his time to ensure your bow is set up correctly. The customer service that is provided here is unrivaled! The atmosphere is extremely friendly and open. Everyone from the employees to the customers are helpful and friendly. I wish I could give them 10 out of 5 stars because they are that fantastic!

Im new to the sport and was thinking about getting a bow for a gift. I wanted pro advise on a new compound bow and support brick and mortar rather than just grab something off the Internet. Well I walked in and the place was really busy. There was no take a number system, plenty of folks behind the counter helping others, or working on something pretty normal. But after about 20 mins of just standing around looking to make eye contact, I was just about to leave when I was asked if I could be helped. I explained my needs budget and was then handed a entry level unit to check out. The young man got a phone call and pretty much left me on my own. The pricing was quite a bit more for a for a complete kit despite having been purchased from the wholesaler at a deal and was double of what I had in mind. Unfortunately, I was not impressed and I really wanted to be. There was no attempt to explain anything. The place is large and has an indoor range but one of the things that jumped out at me was how messy and disorganized the store seemed to present and it was hard to tell customers from employees. I can totally understand busy but I cannot and never understand how someone can walk into a place of business and seem invisible to all the employees. They clearly are happy with where they are at and dont need my business. Thats okay, theres plenty of other customers right? The ones on the phone I guess are more important. As a side note, I will also mention that nobody, not one person was wearing a mask. I felt so weird wondering if I had missed the news or something. Whatever.

Great shop to deal with. I had a problem with my bow and took it to them for service. I didnt buy it there but they still treated me great and even enhanced things. Rich was a great guy to work with there. But everyone interacted and gave great advice too.

Went there with family from out of town. It was fun and exhausting. I booked a 2 hour slot for four. The price was very reasonable. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I would go again by myself.

I really enjoyed the place. The place helps you practice your skills in lessons and classes. I am a starter on archery and in just a few days I got the grip of how to use a compound bow. The workers there were very polite and patient. I really recommend you going there.

5 stars no more like 6 stars they help me a first time bow hunter. I brought my first bow in and they sized it down to my size and style set it up to my length, and even helped me on the range for a while. Very helpful thank you guys I will be back to do more business in the near future!!

I was recently gifted a compound bow by the wifey. I had never shot one before since I am barely starting my interest in bow hunting. The guys here were very helpful and understanding in my lack of experience. They helped setup my bow to my draw length and weight. They even hooked me up with missing parts of my RTH. I dont believe I would have gotten the same help and expertise at academy. Ill be coming back here for sure.

Called them to ask a question and the person that answered the phone acted like he was being bothered and was rude

The guys there are very helpful and knowledgeable. Great bunch of guys, I shoot a Bear Divergent, they dont even sell them at WHA, but that doesnt change how your treated. They treat everyone as if they just spent 2k on Hoyt bow.The range is very casual, and user freindly.

My 16 yr old son is just getting into bow hunting. We went to the store today and were met by a very friendly staff. My son and I are new to bows and Glenn was more than happy to spend time with us. In fact, we spent 2 1/2 hrs there. He helped us pick out the right equipment and explained everything thoroughly. Very knowledgeable and very very helpful. He had Rick assist me.....another great guy and very helpful. After setting up our bows it was off to the range and once again both gentleman were very helpful. They provided expert guidance and gave us several pointers. Terrible service! Showed up waited for 2 hours to be told to leave my bow, it will be done at 3 pm the following day. Around 4:30-5:00pm i shiw up and my bow has still not been done and was then told it would be another day if not longer to be done. All i wanted was a string replacement!! Do not recommend!!! Terrible!!

I have had very good experiences with this bow shop. I have always been helped by Rich. He is patient with my girls and took his time teaching them about their new crossbow. He set up the scope and helped us to shoot it in. Adjust in the scope.We have been back several times for arrows, He later ordered a hard case, because they sold out two weeks before. He held it for me, once it came in, until I could get back and he could set it up for us.Rich is always helpful, friendly and ready to share his knowledge of bows and hunting. Yes he is an archery hunter. He is quick too offer what has worked for him, in the field.We would recommend Rich and West Houston Archery to anyone.I have heard other archery hunters speak of the difficulty of getting good help, or dealing with bow shops that the staff gave them attitude, or would not take the time to help them. My experience with Rich is exactly the opposite. I dont mind waiting in line for them to help those in front of me. Because I know that he will take good care of us, once our turn comes. I have never waited over fifteen minutes, even when the shop is full.

Nice place when we got there. Sales person started off nice and when we questioned a price he became quite rude fairly quickly. And they over charge.

Large selection of compound bows, virtually no recurves, and bad customer service. If you know what you want and they have it, maybe. But theres other places with better attitude.

Great archery shop with a wide selection of bows and accessories. Very service minded and helpful staff, I have never regretted buying my gear there. They get you set up and custom fitted within a few minutes, and will help you at any time getting sighted in and adjusted.

Recently moved from Minnesota, so finding the right archery shop in Houston was priority number 1. These guys hit it out of the park. I stopped in for the first time about a month ago to look around and see if I could tell from the staff if I was going to make this place my go to spot. By the 3rd time I came in not only did I feel at home but the staff was already calling me by name and making the experience truly worth just the visit.I worked with Glenn and let me tell you if you want to get set up and taken care of he is your guy. You want to talk about a great team of guys I think every employee working there came by at one point to see what I was going to get. So everyone there is your guy to be honest. These guys really make your buying experience 2nd to none.The amazing part was how every customer that walked in was treated the exact same way, no pressure, incredible knowledge, great atmosphere. Outstanding customer service. Helped my 14yr get totally set up on his new crossbow. Was a pleasure to meet the staff and would recommend for beginners to above.

Definitely the best facility in houston with a 30 yards practice range that you can shoot all day for just $10. Staffs are also friendly and knowledgeable, they are more than happy to help you out if you need to tune or customize your bow. Also if youre purchasing bow for the first time, they will have a selection of good recommendations for you budget.

After being rushed around and asking for my own change and receipt for the ordering of some bow parts that NEVER were shipped. I called spoke with Glen owner or manager, he therefore told me that my bad review would not hurt his business. I was very disappointed and will never return to this pro shop. They are unorganized and non professional and really treat people like they dont matter. I have been in archery 25 years and own my own business as well. I know customer service and word of mouth can and will make you or break you. Glen also needs to learn this, such a rude man and offered to send refund but did not have address to send it 6 weeks after the parts were ordered. Hung up, I had to call back to give him address to send refund. Not a good experience at all and will never send people here no matter how close they are to the shop. Rudeness is unacceptable! If youre interested in getting into archery, this place is definitely the shop to go to. They have everything youll need, but most importantly, they are eager and excited to pass on their years of experience to their customers. I learned more in 30 minutes at the shop than all of the research Ive done prior to my visit. I would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone whos interested in archery.ALSO: They have an awesome collection of Benchmade folding knives and fixed blades.I have a feeling this is going to be my new second home.

Great place, Glenn was awesome. Bought a Matthews after shooting a diamond outlaw for years. From now on, Im going there. No more Gander mountain/bass pro/Academy. Some of the low reviews on here are ridiculous. If you need help, dont be a sissy and go ask for help.

I just came in to use the range. I am new to using a bow and had lots of questions. The staff was very patient with me and very helpful. They measured the pull poundage and speed at no charge and even recommended another range to assist in practicing further distances.

Good compound bow shop. Has a 30-yd range with state of the art targets that are easy to retrieve arrows and dont cause marks. Only wish they had larger selection of re-curve bows. Main complaint I see in other reviews is the unfriendly sales staff. I see it as not overbearing. You can go in and walk around and not be hounded to buy something. When I walk in to shoot no one ever says a word to me which is fine with me. I just want them to be available when I need something and they typically are...just slap one in the face and tell them what you need. Theyll typically comply.

What an amazing place. The staff is helpful and up to speed on all things modern compound. I recommend you go in...just to poke around a bit

Nice, very helpful staff. They primarily have hunting bows and crossbows, but also stock a few recurves. They have a nice range that allows multiple people to shoot at different ranges.They are open on Memorial day too, from 10 to 7

I have read some reviews saying the salesmen are unfreindly and not helpful but that is completely wrong. I was immediately greeted and help by a young guy named Davon who knew his stuff. They helped me with my needs and we shot the breeze for a while. Nice experience, will be back

Love the place Glenn and Rick are true experts at archery and have great knowledge and expertise in the field. Highly recommend if you love archery and the go to guys there for any archery questions you may have.

These guys know what theyre doing, I had a small snafu with one of the techs losing a (non-essential) piece off my bow, but I called Glen, the manager and he was totally accommodating. Other than that the tech did a great job tuning up my bow and finding the right arrows for me. Gander mt. and bass pro are the walmart of archery- good for some things, but Id suggest leaving the finer details to these guys. Its worth it.

Purchasing was relatively smooth, but in an attempt to return a bow I havent used (and being recognized as such by the manager) was refused a return because I had the bow through hunting season. I understand this policy for avid hunters who will use and abuse a bow, however, I bought my bow for recreational use which I simply never had the chance to use because of work and a shoulder injury. If the bow had been visibly worn I would understand, but after it was recognized as being in new condition the refusal to accept a return blew my mind. Poor customer service.

I went in to get set up with a bow I could hunt with for years to come, and left with a tuned up bow shooting half a dozen arrows into a group no larger than my fist at 20m. The wait was quite long, but they were helping customers as quickly as they could and made a point to let me know they hadnt forgotten about me. As I need new arrows, fletching, or gadgets I will certainly be returning.

I do not completely understand Mr. Mais review. West Houston Archery is one of the greatest places in Houston and Diahron is the best part of it. Not only have I found a sport for life, I have made an amazing friend. Every time my father begins to surpass me, Diahron has worked hard to help me. West Houston Archery is a wonderful place I really recommend.

I went in a while ago with a lot of quesions and every single one was answered. I got my bow strung as well. The techs are really good and everyone was friendly without trying to sell me the whole store.

Im new to archery and wanted to check out this store. I didnt have that much knowledge of different types of compound bows and just need some advice before I made a big purchase. The dark fellow guy at the front desk was very arrogant and came off very uninviting. Does he expect every single person that comes into the store to have expert knowledge of archery?...very disappointing first time experience at this establishment. I know one worker bee cant represent their whole business integrity...so in conclusion, Im not looking for an apology, just wish I had a different sales personnel helping me instead of discouraging me from getting into archery.

I cant say much about the others exp, but I had a good one. I went about 45 mins before they were about to close. We picked out a bow, customized it the way I like. guy show me how to shoot, and I was out of there. They asked me to come back any time to try their range, so that I can try out the bow for free. Even if it wasnt I think its only about $10 all day, but still. I thought that was cool. Ive never shot a bow or anything, but they coached me to have a good grouping and hit 4/6 bulls eye at 20 yards in couple of mins. Everyone Ive talked to were friendly and helpful. though it doesnt come off like that at first. Judging the book by its cover, I would be too intimidated to talk to them, but after chatting with them for a min, Ive learned that they are just a harmless guys. Very cool even. Lot of people dont take in to the consideration that this is a small mom/pop shop. They might not have the world class customer service, but they got character. If you want better customer service from part time kid that knows less, and dont really care about your archery exp, I guess you can go to bass pro shop. If you want to buy and hear some wisdom from someone that loves what they do, try this place out. I cant guarantee that youll have too EXP like I have, seems like its hit or miss, but I can say Ive had good exp.

I dont know how this place stays in business. Every time I have stepped foot into West Houston Archery and told them I wanted to try or even talk about other bows than a Mathews they shoot the idea down saying they are all pieces of crap and that I should buy a Mathews. I am the customer and I have money to spend on a very nice rig and their attitude every time I go there just turns me off. I will not be doing business with West Houston Archery.

Im not sure why anybody would rate them less than 5 stars. I was greeted immediatly upon arrival and the service was great. I ended up walking out with a Hoyt which was expertly setup for me. At no time was a Matthews ever pushed into my face for me to buy. The new shop is very nice and the range is awesome. Im looking forward to my weekend range visits with my new Hoyt.

Great Service and accessories.

Very helpful, I was very pleased. The staff had good additudes and were very focused. When I first got my bow and accesseries there I knew very little about accessories but what Id learned online and been told. I went in wanting spott hog sights but I was told that sights dont mean that much. At the distances im trying to shoot now I totally disagree. Also my peep sights tends to turn crooked after about 5 shots. those are my only complaints.

I walked into their store the other day and was not greeted by anyone. I must have been walking around the store for 20mins and I finally decided to leave. Some of the workers just stared at me as I was walking around the shop. I may not look like I shoot bows but they didnt even know me by just looking at me. Anyway I decided that I didnt want to buy anything...main reason none of them would help me find the stuff I needed. I dout Ill go back but if I do Ill update my review about this place. So far their service is poor and their prices are high.

The service was great and the indoor range let you test out your additions to the bow / if you got it tuned up in the store you can test it out on site without going home ...... The shop moved to a bigger location down the freeway and confused me on directions

They are not really into crossbows. They do have some. Price are a little high. For true archery .
