HCC is a Homewood City facility with membership open for Homewood residents and contains a small Fitness Center gym with modern equipment that is well maintained. Great for the self motivated or someone needing a convenient place for cardio work. There are free weights and machines as well. There are two basketball courts with a walking track above. There are also classes open to members and non members that include yoga, karate, childrens drawing, and more. For city residents there is a large swimming pool and kids wading splash area. This is all adjacent to Homewood Park, the citys main public park.

Customer Service is terrible. Tried to ask questions regarding the facility and see if it was a place my elderly mother would enjoy. The receptionist who answered the phone just told me it is a members only facility.Thank you so MUCH for your help

Attended a baby shower here. The room that was rented was a nice size. It also had a small kitchenette plus the restrooms were near. Everything was convenient.

I have only been for a dance class, but it is a clean facility and everyone that I have encounter has been nice.

Great place to walk on the track or work out in the equipment room. Two new basketball courts, party and meeting rooms and a fabulous swimming pool with three areas for all age groups in the summer. All the staff are super nice.

The best run center anywhere run by the best staff and best director. Homewood parks are the best in this state hands down.

It has been a few years since I visited the rec center. I visited for one of the classes (Aziza of Birmingham Classic Middle Eastern Bellydance) last week and I was glad to see the upgrade to the rooms. (Floors, mirrors, etc.) Also, I really enjoyed the class and instructor immensely. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Only downside...parking. Need more spaces to park...

I have taught art classes there for almost thirteen years, at the old location. I have been a member for four years. Great facility, conveinent. Awesome track, gym.

Great place to workout. They have all the free weights, bench press, squats, and machines you could want. Multiple ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes. There is a track upstairs that is 1/4 mile which goes around the top of two full basketball courts. Outside there is a great olympic sized pool, and a pool station for the kiddos. You cant beat the price: $175/year for the first person, then add $25/year for each additional person. We are so happy we live in Homewood and have access to this!

I have played baseball on these fields since I was a child. It had been a while, so me and a couple of friends went to play today at the same field we always play on. There were only six of us, and we played for about 30 minutes until this security/maintenance man pulls up in his red Tahoe and tells us we have to leave cause the field is lined off for a game [sic]. We didnt have a problem with that, but I asked him if all the fields were prepped for games, and he said all of them were. As my friends packed the car, I checked the other fields and no other field was even close to ready for a game to be played on it. We had all we could take of him, and so we just left the facilities, which is all he really wanted. He just sat in his Tahoe and spied on us to make sure we left. It was bad enough that he showed up mad, and kicked us off, but the fact that he lied about all the other unused fields was too much, and so I am writing this review. I spoke with two other faculty members on the phone, and they were very courteous, and said we could play on any field that wasnt scheduled for a game. Hopefully the staff will do something to correct that individuals attitude, because he was rude, hateful, and dishonest. Homewood should be ashamed of this guy.

One Saturday ago I was in the rec center playing basketball when an older african man by the name of mr Owens came up to me talking about I wasnt a member when I told him let me go get card he became very rude trying to rush me to the desk and raising his voice with a very bad look on his face At me. I have called his supervisor and talked to the other employees of that establishment which they have all said they dont like him and have seen him act rude to many other people that have came in there. So if you go into the homewood recreational center on Saturdays watch him if he goes up to your kids or you cause he is not a friendly person to be around. That was one of the worst days up there in my life living in Homewood I suggest they fire that man . Just for his rude yelling at kids at talking to adults with no respect at all.
