Friendly staff and course is very well maintained, especially for the price. Driving holes are wide and the rough is very manageable, so good times for bombers who dont have the best accuracy. The sand is consistent and in great shape which youll appreciate because you will likely end up in one or two of those. The greens are sneaky and can be a little frustrating when it breaks way further or much less than you were expecting. And just when you think youve figured it out, that 6 inch break is actually a straight putt. Theyre fairly fast, fun and true, but do expect 3 putts if you arent totally excellent at reading greens. My only issue at all is with the range mats. Theyre a bit worn and the concrete that theyre sitting on is lightly sloped, which means the ball goes less where you put it and more where it stops rolling to.Good golf and good times. Kudos to the staff and grounds crew. Totally worth the drive from Chicago.

Today I went into the office to get a ticket for the Range Ball. He told me the range ball was closed.1 hour.Unfortunately, I came out of the office and it was a little weird. A man behind me went into the office. I had a strange thought at the moment and waited for the man to come out.He had a ticket for a range ball in his hand. Then he got the ball.I went back into the office and asked, You told me the range ball was closed, right? He laughed and said, Its open.I cant seem to forget his name. R..I loved this place because all the staff were so kind, but today I was so sad.

Had a nice fall round today. The course was actually in nice condition. Greens were fast and in great shape. Fairways were also well kept. Challenging par 5s and some interesting layouts. I really like this course for a Forest Preserve managed course. The club house has some nice snacks and a small pro shop for the essentials. The only problem I noticed were the gas carts. The first one I picked had no locking brake, second one was the same, third one had a functioning brake but was difficult to start each time. Had to pump the accelerator to get it going. Got a decent rate on GolfNow, so all things considered, a good day on a good course.

Current website states with FPC rates for seniors weekdays are 19 to walk and 27 to ride. Not so. Rate to ride is 36. And you can not mix walkers and riders, which our foursome has both. Would not have purchased the card knowing these facts.

Terrible place, starter John Ellis is a total tool box with zero awareness around customer service. We arrived early for our tee time and he demanded we not tee off because of time and drop in the fairway for our first shot. Great job John, if there was a zero rating for this it would be issued...

Fun course, greens roll well. Typically busy so without an early tee time, expect a longer round. If you play from the tips there are some fun/ difficult tee shots. They do have golf boards, the motorized golf scooters, which are a blast. It takes a couple minutes to get comfortable on them but once you do its hard to be angry, even after a poor shot. Bit pricey but good course.

A great course design. It is up to the player to play his best game, and this course challenges every aspect. So it makes it easier to ignore the management.Probably one of the best public course layouts in the area. Long from the tips.It can be a little slow...to a lot slow..but thats people...not the course.Probably one of the prettier courses around. It is in the Forest Preserve system.

Its a good course and I enjoy the layout but literally everytime I play my tee time is 15-20 minutes behind and yestersay they did even better, get to the tee and they were 40 minutes behind. Im sorry but there is no excuse for that and if that is consistent change the tee time intervals, common sense people. I will never play or reccomend anyone ever play there again. Yesterday was the last straw. I saw the ranger once, pretty sure the only reason anyone works there is for golf privileges and if that isnt the case then the people there just dont care about you or the course. I think 1 competent worker could run that place by themselves better than the current staff. I should have asked for my money back after the 6 hour round but I was so mad I just left. What a poor experience. Cant imagine Im the only one who complained. Hope this helps. Long story short go somewhere else its worth the extra $15-$20.

Played on a beautiful sunny Monday. Unfortunately this round took 5 hrs!! Played behind 2 foursomes of Japanese men. A foursome of Japanese men have never let me play through...ever. They each take 3 practice swings before each shot on their way to a snap hook and a 98. Please install signs in Japanese to allow faster players through. This is the only drawback to playing this course...a round shouldnt take 5 hrs on a Monday!! And I dont recall seeing a Ranger at all during the round...maybe the course should step up on those too on Mondays. The course layout is very enjoyable and greens were very fast today. I just wish the people in front of me were half as fast as the greens!!

Good municipal course to play at. Wish there was a cart person to sell drinks or have one stop by more often. I didnt see the cart person until after I teed off the 10th hole. My tee time was 7am but it was a very hot morning. Would have been nice to get a cold drink the second half of the front 9.They have the scooter/surf board carts but you need to make a reso for them. Ive been wanting to try one but forget the past few times Ive made a tee time. The course can get jammed late morning and early afternoon. They were running out if carts last time.

The course itself isnt bad for being laid out in a small area but on the weekends plan on a 5 hour round of golf. Also try a couple golf coupon sites before going because the price is a bit high for the type of course and how long it takes to get a round in. There are some nice challenging holes though which is nice.

Just played this and despite having tee-times 10 minutes apart, it took almost 5 1/2 hours to play ! We teed off at 2:40. Our foursome caught up to the group ahead of us by the second hole green and proceeded to wait the rest of the round. Not a single ranger in site to move things along. The course conditions were average due to all the rain we have had recently. The rough areas had GLOBS of grass all over due to not being mowed in a while. Its just not worth the money and 5.5 hours to play this place.

Bought my dad a round of golf for him and his friends for Fathers day. They show up early. At 7am. They were supposed to start at 7:30. The place opens at like 6 and they were already 30 minutes behind. This means they were most likely allowing walk-ons. This pushed back my dads start till 8, even though he had a reserved time. It was July 4th, but that is still no excuse to screw over people who made plans in advanced. This also means he was waiting after each hole for the players in front of him to finish. They didnt end up finishing till 1pm in the heat because of the slow pace. The staff was not accommodating and acted as if this wasnt a big deal. Golf is expensive and this was supposed to be a nice treat for a guy who works really hard all the other days of the week. My dad is too proud to complain, but Im not. Highland Woods Golf Course should hold themselves to a higher standard and give their reserved costomers the time they paid for. There are pleanty of better courses you can go to in the area and Ive seen better service at a Top Golf. Would not recommend.

I played there on November 3rd and was absolutely shocked by the $58 greens fee.Every course in the area has reduced Fall rates in effect except for the greedy crooks at the Forest Preserve District. This was more than I have paid all season. For $58 you get sand traps that are not raked, goose droppings everywhere, no GPS, no yardage marked on sprinkler heads and no drinking water available on the course.Worth about half of what I paid.
