I was referred to this firm by Low Country Legal Volunteers (LCLV) after I was informed by them that I did not meet their income requirements for legal assistance. The nice lady from LCLV suggested that I call some attorneys they work with to see if they may be able to work with me on the pricing. She told me to mention that I was referred by LCLV. I called Mr.Keep and informed him that I needed help with a name change for my minor child for religious purposes. He asked me what was the religion and I said, Islam. He was completely silent for about 7 seconds and then he said in a demure tone, I can do that for $1200. I then explained to him that I was referred to him by LCLV in hopes that there was a discounted rate because I only do not qualify for their help because of my fathers income (Which is only about 27k) and the fact that we live in the same house. I told him I am a student and I have no income and asked him if he knew of any ways I could get the name change done without all of this expense and hassle since it is for genuine religious purposes. He then nonchalantly said, get it outta yo dad or get a job. I almost couldnt believe my ears but then I remembered that this is SC where no matter how educated a person appears to be, there are many who are not very knowledgeable or tolerant when it come to other beliefs and cultures. (Hence his 7 second silence earlier)... I politely said to him that I would not be using his services due to his rudeness and lack of professionalism and thanked him for his time. He tried to argue but I hung up before he could. IF YOU ARE TRULY AMERICAN AND LOVE THE FACT THAT PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT BY THE CONSTITUTION TO PEACEFULLY PRACTICE WHATEVER RELIGION THEY WANT, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PRACTICE. THEY ARE PREJUDICE, BIASED AND THEIR PERSONAL BELIEFS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT SEPARATE FROM HOW THEY CONDUCT THEIR LEGAL PRACTICE. MAY GOD FORGIVE HIM FOR HIS MISTREATMENT OF ME AND HID GENERALIZATION OF MY FAITH. AMEN.
