Nice waterfall with a viewing area. Get there early and enjoy the falls in peace. The waterfall viewing area is roughly 100 feet from the parking lot. There is a handicap ramp to the viewing area and the park has restrooms.

Magical location - no wonder its important to Hawaii culture. Youll want it to be as sunny as possible, but also needs to be morning. Rainbow is viewable from below (super easy and accessible) or above the falls (little bit of an uneven hike, but with a railing). Can make for a short visit on the way to/through Hilo.

I want that much impressed by it. It looks like a small waterfall may be due to less water flowing that day. The parking is easy with lots of space. Its a easy spot for elderly people. They have nicely renovated restrooms. They say you can see rainbow if you visit during the morning hours.

A nice waterfall with a colorful story or origin based on the demigod Maui. You can access a great viewing spot right from the parking lot at his handicap accessible. There are steps to climb to got to the top of the waterfall but they are uneven and slippery. Not great for knee, hip or back problems.

Beautiful area. Only 4 stars because parking was very limited. Luckily, it doesnt take long for a spot to free up so be patient! You walk along a path to view the falls. Be sure to go a bit further to see the beautiful trees! You can easily see everything in 30-an hour. Very easy access to the falls. Restrooms available.

Great Place to go and so near to Hilo City. We have been there twice in a week because of the fascination the waterfall is giving in the right time of the day. Recommendation: Go there around noon and the Rainbow on the falls is the best visible.

We visited this park on the land of frozen fire excursion. We loved rainbow falls and our tour guide was fantastic! I highly recommend this excursion! However, I will give it a 4 star rating because the bathrooms at this State Park were awful. If you can wait...wait for the next bathroom. All were in better condition than these.

Like every place in Hawaii, this park is beautiful! There are 2 spots to view the falls. From directly across the lake, and from a trail that allows you to view from above. Very short trail, so accessible to most. It is wheelchair accessible only from the front view where there is pavement.

Rainbow Falls was perfect! Parking was a bit of a nightmare, but I more blame the jerk who was driving that bus. This was one of the biggest highlights of our vacation. I was surprised by how “in town” it was. Very easy to get to, very easy to navigate while there. The most beautiful place. I would definitely go back!

Its cool to see but not worth the drive if this is your only destination. With all the flash flood warnings, there is no hiking down to the water. The river that flows into and out of the waterfall is called the River of Destruction so be careful! Easy and accessible to see the waterfall but parking can be a hassle.

It has two main attractions - boiling pots and rainbow waterfalls. Boiling pots are big pools whose waters roll and bubbles making it to appear like its boiling. Rainbow waterfalls is renowned for rainbow formed in the atmosphere that can be seen at morning on sunny days. Restrooms are pretty clean. Parking space is available for cars and buses. There are some scenic view points to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Beautiful treasure of a place. Not a lot of parking though, but Id hate to sacrifice any more of the Flora here with cement for our cars, so its fine I guess. Its so refreshing to come here and see the waterfalls and the nature. Just be sure to take care and stay safe, people have gotten hurt and died trying to get too close to the waterfalls.

Very crowded and kids crawling all over the place. I was pretty nervous those kids were going to fall in. This place is an important location and it felt like people were not being as respectful as they should to it. Truly lovely, but I think they should post some rules on being respectful to the place and to others seeking to enjoy it.

Tour guide had this as one of our stops. Pretty busy site with a lot of people packing the viewing platform. It is a real nice park with a beautiful waterfall so dont let the crowds discourage. Climb the stairs to the top and take a left to see one HUGE banyan tree. Watch your step as you approach the banyan. I was there after a rain and it gets really slippery. There are restrooms at this park but no other services the day I was there.

Definitely worth the drive if you’re in Hilo. It takes little time to stop and visit. Then drive to Akaka Falls about a 20 minute drive and 30 minute round trip walk.If you look at Rainbow Falls at the top of the cave at the water for about ten seconds and then look at the smooth cliff to the right you’ll have some fun.
