The reason this gets five stars is first that they have curated this little museum in such a way that will fascinate young kids and educate us older kids. Its very small. But, its nice. Second, its admission free. They do take donations and I think youll find it worth to contribute to this non-profit organization. Dont forget to check out the beautiful Hill County Courthouse on the nearby square or perhaps the Roadside America museum within walking distance as well.

Very informative! It was amazing to see how many artifacts had been collected right here in the state of Texas! A tour was arranged for our Cub Scout Pack and was enjoyed by both the Scouts, leaders and parents.

Great little museum! I 100% support this museum and the workers there. Its great that Hillsboro has this place, and I hope the people take good care of it. Staff was super friendly, letting us in even when they were technically close. Definitely support them, they do not charge admission, but the run off your donations and gift shop purchases.

If you have the opportunity to stop here, take the time and do it! This museum is so great, they are all about dinosaurs and fossils that are found in Texas. Now through October they have a 40 foot T-rex on display.

Rex did a great job at walking us through the displays. He was very knowledgeable and has a personality that encourages Q&A. Next time well invite some friends along (if COVID-19 ever gives us a break.)

Great museum in downtown Hillsboro containing a nice selection of fossils and minerals on display and for sale. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and was wonderful at explaining things to our grandson. Admission is free but we were glad to make a donation. Super place to bring children.

This museum is a great addition to downtown Hillsboro. Especially since it is located in the historic Grimes Garage. Knowledgeable staff and information.

What a wonderful addition to downtown Hillsboro. The owner was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic about the fossils and history. Great place for kids! The information was presented casually but more depth and technical info was ready if you ask. I had no idea how important Texas was to the fossil record, Im glad I stopped by.
