The park area is lovely, but, sadly, too many visitors have become lazy when it comes to the easiest of pandemic health protocols! Playground should post signs stating FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED! This is a Playground, afterall! Protect the children, protect the caregivers.

This is my favorite dog park in the area. There are many places for people to sit throughout the park. Water is always available. There are two parks. One park is for dogs under 25 pounds and the other is for dogs over 25 pounds. This park usually has more dogs than other dog parks nearby.

Nice place to hangout. Its like centre of the town and connects another big park. If you are not finding any spot here, you can drive 5 mins to another near by park. You wont find a table to do barbecue or have lunch. This need to be booked in advance.Parking is available every corner of this park.

Lovely park with so much to offer, a true gem of Higland Park and Middlesex county. There is a promenade along the Raritan River, two playgrounds, a boat ramp, dog park, fishing pond, paths for waking and biking, sports fields, basketball courts, and lately live bagpipe music every evening near the boat ramp. Summer evenings are a wonderful time to go with kids.

On a day when the weather is good, this park is the best! Lots of space to run around at the kids playground and weve also held birthday parties and impromptu picnics here. Would give 5 stars if there was any type of shade in the kids playground for those hot summer days. I tend to go to other parks with better shade on those days.

Living in close proximity to this park for many years Ive seen it change all for the better. One thing though has not changed. The Raritan River which flows next to the park. When the river overflows its banks the park is a lake. The unseen nasties deposit themselves into the soil. This is something to consider. The Raritan River is the 12th most polluted river in the United States.

Large park ideal for get togethers, birthday parties and reunions. You are able to reserve spaces which is great but at a cost. Downsides are bathrooms although centrally located to all spaces, due to size if park it is a long walk. A river with a boat ramp is good and bad as it is a danger for young children but great for those who want to enjoy water sports. All in all I would highly recommend and actually have used this park 4 years in a row.

Donaldson Park is a small park in Highland Park, NJ bordering on the Raritan River. It has a picnic area where people of all ages can find an activity to participate in. There are playgrounds, tennis courts, softball fields, volleyball area, and you can even fish in the river. I lived in the area for 41 years and had much benefit from it. Try it out.

Ro
Review №74

Its a lovely park and is used by people for all sorts of activities. The only issue is that when there is only a moderate amount of rain, the walking/bike path is covered in water in a number a places, making those parts unusable. People either turn around or try to walk around through muddy water. It would be great if they could figure out some sort of drainage system or a way to redirect the water in those 5-6 areas that are often underwater.

Donaldson park has a large, main playground thats usually full of kids, and a second smaller playground space to the West thats often pretty quiet. There are bathrooms within walking distance of both playgrounds, but they close in the cold weather. Other than that, great location for playdates and family hangouts! The tennis courts and basketball courts are often active if youre looking for a pick-up game.
