The Kuchta Academy has moved to Highland Park, Chicago, IL!I was interested in a drawing class back when the Academy was located in West Lafayette, IN a number of years ago. After speaking with Chris, I was allowed to audit a drawing course at a time that worked better for my schedule while the instructor taught a painting class. My focus during my sessions was divided between introductory drawing theory and practice, comic book character design, comic book theory, comic book story development, and my final work was a portrait executed in graphite.I found Chris Kuchta to be personable in conversation and very thorough during instruction. Time was spent moving from student to student, spending adequate time with us all and addressing specific needs of individuals when they arose. The session I attended was a mix of students with different skill levels and instruction was adjusted to the pupils experience.A master painter himself, Kuchta was willing to discuss technique, past and present works, and his personal favorite art subject - monster-movie characters.I enjoyed my drawing class very much and was delighted to hear that the Kuchta Academy has found a new home in Highland Park.

Chris is awesome, and I highly recommend this art studio to anyone - whether they are a beginner or seasoned artist. Chris has superb training in classical fine art from Chicago, is a fantastic instructor for learners of all ages, and an exceptional artist. I first met Chris when I started art lessons around age 10, and continued to take lessons from him throughout middle school, high school, and college when time permitted. He taught me the old master oil painting technique, how to draw charcoal cast drawings, pencil drawings, and so much more. I have countless of pieces that I love in my art portfolio and several oil paintings hanging in my parent’s house which would not have been possible to create without his instruction and guidance. He is super friendly, genuine, and creates a warm, professional, and supportive atmosphere in the studio. I highly recommend this art studio to anyone who wants to learn how to draw and also have a great time while doing it.

I had a fantastic experience taking drawing classes at Kuchta Academy! Chris is a really fun, friendly, and caring teacher. He is a master artist and knows everything there is to know about drawing and painting. He really helped to kick start my drawing ability, and he helped me to overcome some of the problem areas I was encountering in my artwork. I have since gone on to become a professional designer in the theme park industry, and I count Chris’ teachings as an important part of my artistic education.
