We love, love, love Patterson Park. They have a Kayak launch, splash pad, playground, and so much more. Weve spent so much time there in 2020 due to COVID-19 super close to our home and super convenient to go here for afternoon fun or a picnic.

I just went to Patterson Park yesterday, 09/22/2020, and I and so sorry Ive waited so long to go. I love the boardwalk as well as the playscape. I would love to spend the day out there with my nieces and nephews. Is it too late to do so? Also, are those kayaks available for use?

This Park in Grosse Pointe Park is a quiet park. There is access to Lake Saint Clair for kayaks, SUP boards, windsurfing and the like. There is a splash pad and playscape, swings, slides for the summer months and an ice skating rink and sled Hill for the winter. Walk the boardwalk along the lake. Gorgeous! Lots of beautiful shade trees.

Its a very nice large park with activities for all ages. A spacious field when you first enter which fr my impression seems perfect for dogs and their owners. A reflection pool with a little place surrounded by shrubs to sit at a table and chat. There is a small putting green next to a large parking lot when you make your way in. A area to store your kayak/canoe. A nice board walk around a park and an awesome gazebo with its roof made of four trees (beautiful spot for a wedding or pictures). And a playground for kiddos .

The ice skating area is fun. The warming stations is very cozy. The pier is calming to walk on. The splash pad is loads of fun with family. The play equipment is a bit old, but safe.

Looks nice enough from the outside, but you have to be a resident to get in, which in my opinion sort of defeats the purpose of a park. Maybe call it a country club instead?

Its a great family park, with ice rink in the winter and warming shelter, and playgroup and splashpad in the summer! There are more activities, but Im just listing a dew. Grounds are well kept, no trash or anything.

My wife, kids, and I went to Gross Pointe for dinner at this nice restaurant, then after we wanted to take the kids to a nearby park in the area of the restaurant....I didnt know, but now I do, that ALL the parks in this area of Gross Pointe and Gross Pointe Farms like this Matthew Park are PRIVATE! They these parks had a gated entrance to the park and only residents can visit this park. Mind you, this is just another normal park with trees, a pool, a playground, nothing crazy fancy, again just another Michigan park, only private. Lets just say, my family and I will never visit this racist city and its parks again!

Great Park for a family gathering or a picnic. You have to be a resident of Gross point to be able to go there or a guest of a resident. Loved the water fountain, keep it us cool in a hot weather day. Oh, it is gated so you can not just go there.

Its a pretty park with a beautiful view and access to the water. It has a splash pad and play areas for kids, plenty of open space for picnicing, boats to take out on the water. While there were lots of people around, it was still peaceful.

Quieter than Windmill Pointe, its still an incredible place, with the splash pad, community build play ground, putting green, winter skating rink and just the serenity by the water.

We arrived to check out this location for a wedding, only to find out you need a park pass for entry. I asked how to obtain one and was (almost snobbily) told you needed to be a resident. Pretty obnoxious.

This PRIVATE park is lame. Shame on GrosS Point for having a resident only policy. Detroit is really much nicer.

Not a public park - you need a park pass in order to enter and you can only get a park pass if you are a resident of Grosse Pointe Park.

This park is restricted to GP park residents only and my wife and I regularly walked to this place for 5 years before we moved out of Grosse Pointe Park, MI.This is my wifes favorite park for its lovely shoreline view, quietness and beauty. This park has a nice kayak access site. You can bring your own kayak and enjoy some kayaking in the lake and store it there as long as they keep the racks. There is a splash park in there as well for the little ones to enjoy summer time.

This park is a memorial park (hence the name), and was donated by the widow of Matthew C. Patterson as a passive park, in perpetuity. That originally meant, no lights, no buildings (except the restroom), and lots of space for kids to just run and play. It also provided a lot of habitat for local wildlife, that otherwise to longer exists in grosse pointe. At some point the city decided to ignore the wishes of the donor, and began actively managing it. Theyve added a boardwalk, that replaced and closed the natural shoreline, a reflecting pool/refrigerated ice-rink that replaced the small natural ice rink they used to maintain in the winter (kids used to play hockey on the small rink, but hockey is banned on the new rink), they built a large pump station for the city sewer separation project, but basements are getting flooded anyway, so its not very effective, and the list goes on.Dont get me wrong, its a nice park, but they took a big, open, quiet place where kids could use their imaginations, or play pickup sports, and theyre slowly building it up more and more. It typical Grosse Pointe fashion, more is apparently always better, enough is never enough.
