Since being purchased last year (2019) by two local businessmen the Forest Oaks country club has seen nothing but constant upgrades and positive changes. Enhancements to the golf course, addling pickle ball courts, major upgrades to the club house and redoing the swimming pool are just a few of the works that have been accomplished with more going on all the time. I have been amazed at how much has been done in such a short time. Much praise to the new owners for a fantastic job in improving the club.

I love Forest Oaks Country Club. I grew up swimming on the swim team there. The new owners have brought the Club back to life. It is completely remodeled and it’s gorgeous. The food is very good too. It is so much fun to spend the day at the pool and order lunch poolside. My son said the golf course is in tip top shape. So happy with all the new changes.

Great course to play. Very well kept. Challenging greens. Would recommend everyone to play this course.

In terms of condition and course layout, Forest Oaks is unmatched by any golf in the area. My group travels from Chapel Hill each week just to play this gem. Just cannot say enough about the job the course superintendent has done with this place. The greens are superb. The staff is so friendly and helpful it is truly a country club experience wrapped into a public course.

The golf course is in the best shape I have seen in several years. Very impressed. The staff is super friendly. The upgrades to the clubhouse are awesome. The pool area and grill are great improvements.

I am so grateful to the new owners who have restored the club, bringing it back to even MORE than it was when new! My husband and I, and our family, have had nothing but the very best experiences in every capacity there! Entire staff is warm and friendly. Thank you!

Course is in phenomenal shape and they’re really investing in the facility! Great new instructor, Coach Brock, really knows his stuff and has done wonders for our 2 juniors. Our son is chipping with so much confidence and our daughter actually asks to go practice!

I love playing golf at Forest Oaks Country Club. It is a great layout that will challenge golfers of any handicap. The greens are some of the best in the Greensboro area. The staff is very helpful and professional. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We are very happy with the new ownership and staff. They have been working very hard to make improvements, care about the club and are very friendly. The pool is great. The food and beverage is much improved as well. Theres so much to do with out here at the club.

We absolutely LOVE hanging out at the pool and eating at the grub shack, not to mention the fabulous drink specials!! The workout classes are a great addition too! My family has also learned and love the new pickle ball courts! I have a hard time keeping my husband away ! So glad we joined, we will be members for life!!

This is the place to book an event! We had two private parties last weekend and the club did an absolutely terrific job of making sure everything was spectacular! The food was amazing (especially the pimento cheese, chicken salad and chicken with waffles). Both the 40th birthday pool party and the college graduation we’re a huge success! We cannot thank the staff enough for all they did to make these events perfect! We HIGHLY recommend the club not only for special occasions, but for membership in general, as they have so much to offer!

Course in great shape, management is great. Price is right. Free water bottles on ice on 1 and 10 amazing. Nice crowd of golfers helping keep a decent pace.

Pretty nice course. Rangers had horrible golf Etiquette. We were in the middle of a tournament and they continuously rode up behind us and moved into our line of sight during play. When we asked them to move to the side his response was “you have a problem?” Completely rude and uncalled for. Other than that not too bad

With the new local ownership, great things are happening at Forest Oaks! The newly redone pool is OPEN and looks great! And even with the Covid-19 issues, the restaurant and snack shop have stayed on top of everything and still put out great food and friendly service!

I think this review might be the product of having expectations that were simply too high. I was excited to play a track that the PGA used to stop at. This wasnt that.Now, let me top and say. Forest Oaks is a good golf course. Its fun... nothing terribly challenging. Some beautiful holes (though nothing revelatory either). I just really had trouble picturing PGA players out there as recently as 13 years ago.Next: staff was fantastic. Very friendly, informative. The starter in particular was an absolute gem. Pace of play was outstanding. Everyone we saw on the course was friendly. I was in a two-some and two different foursomes let us play through. One didnt, but you know what? They were fast and it didnt matter.At the end of the day, this is a good value. But if you are like me, and expecting Pinehurst...... thats an hour away.

The golf course is in wonderful shape. The entire staff works hard to provide a great experience. The owners are making incredible improvements to the property. Come join us!

The new owners have done a fantastic job with the club. The greens are on point, the pool is amazing, makes u feel like ur on vacation. The tennis courts & pickle ball courts are also great. The inside of the club has had a makeover. The ballroom is beautiful & they have added a bridal suite so its ready for nuptials.. this would be a beautiful place to get married. They have also added a barber shop, yes I said Barber Shop. All around a great place with an awesome staff who are accommodating.. Forest Oaks Country Club is a one stop shop. If if havent stopped by in the past 10 mths, u should. Big change..

Course conditions, pace of play, staff interaction and food services are FAR superior to the state of this club in recent history. I had gotten to the point I would not go there anymore, but was glad I gave them another try.I have played here three times in the last few weeks and I will make it one of my regular stops for golf.

So many great improvements this year! The staff is dedicated to making this one of the best clubs in Greensboro. We especially enjoy the pool and pickleball courts.

Played 7/25/2020 and the course was in GREAT shape! Definitely top 10 in the piedmont. Massive improvements from previous years.

This course has made a true transformation from recent years. No opportunity to update the entire facility has been missed. More importantly...they are not done upgrading and executing their vision of a recent PGA Tour golf course. If you haven’t play golf his golf course within the last 12 months...you are truly missing out! Hit’em straight!!

If you have 5 hours to kill on a record setting hot day, and do not require a drink with ice, or something to eat, this is the place for you. The course was in pretty good shape, considering the recent heat wave, though there must be a rule here against people fixing ball marks on the greens. They were pocked up pretty good. They still rolled pretty good. We played it at 9:00 am on 7/20, and there was no one ahead of us for two holes when we teed off on no. 1. We caught a group by number 4. A group of 20-somethings who had a boom box blaring on their cart. No problem, they seemed to move along as best they could. The groups in front of them, however, were slow. Pathetically slow. It was in the mid 90s by 11:00 oclock and these guys were farting around marking their balls, lining up 1 foot putts. At the turn, we went in to get something to drink, since there was a back up on 10, and the lady running the counter said they had no ice. She said they opened at 11:00 and sent someone out for some. Like this forecast was a surprise? I ordered a hot dog, which was ice cold and served on a bun that must have been made during the Reagan Administration. It got even slower on the back 9, and we waiting 5-10 minutes on every shot. We were forced to quit by the 14th hole, we couldnt take it anymore. I normally would grab a rain check, but I dont see myself going back there any time soon.

Great layout, but can play long! The course was in suspect shape very early in the season. I elected to return near the end of the season and the work of the grounds crew was amazing.

Nice challenging course. Water coolers seem to be on every other hole which is great on hot days. . The course now charges a fee for using a debit card. ️

I feel like Forrest Oaks has became the best kept secret in our area. You can not find this level of Golf Course for their price anywhere around. I’ve played at least 40 rounds here over the last year and this is by far my favorite course.

The club has had a lot of ups and downs over the last couple of years. It seems to be leveling out. Theres heating in the winter & hopefully a/c fully functioning next summer. I hear the dining is improving too. Will check back once weve had a meal.

Just played the course. It is in excellent shape. Greens are rolling perfectly. Little hiccup with the staff but the GM was congenial and resolved the issue.

I made a reservation and told the person it was for 2 and one senior. When I arrived the pro shop said no senior rates apply on Friday. I was generally upset and explained I didnt know that. Instead of saying to me no problem, we will honor a senior rate for you this time but in the future, senior rates are Monday -Thursday. Then I tried to pay with credit, I was told they are under new management (no kidding really?) And dont except credit. The course was a mess! Fairways were over grown, no ball washers, no fairway distance markers and the tee boxes are dirt! What a disappointment!! To be fair the greens are perfect and they did have water on the course.

Course must be for sale because it is in terrible condition! Bad(really bad) cart paths. Rough nothing but weeds. Poa Anna taking over greens. Pit marks all over greens. Grass rivulets in fairways are so big that your ball could kick sideways. Not worth anything to play....course should pay us to play! Ive played all over NC and this one of the worst conditioned course around. My advice.....go elsewhere, anywhere but Forest Oaks! Oh, the tees were rotten too!

Real Championship golf course. More enjoyable for all if you play from the tees that suite your skill level. Never get tired of playing this course. Excellent shape, staff user friendly!

Played on Christmas day. Was in great shape other than it was really wet which cant be helped because of all the rain previous to playing. Well definitely play again.

With the exception of the sand traps, the course is in superb condition and rates drop in the afternoon.

Dinner here on Thursday and Friday is unbelievably good. Get the special and you cant go wrong.

Fairways and greens in good shape but sandtraps need dragging and a lot of help. Still, course fun playing.

Enjoyed the round and found the course to be in fairly good condition.

Well kept in spit of fact it was winter. There arent many bathrooms on the course, so be sure to hit the locker room before you tee off.

Very nice course for the price. Good variation in hole layout, and the course is set up well to utilize the space.

The course that used to be. Layout was fun and old school PGA style. However, course is run down and disappointing. Was expecting a little more from a former PGA course.

Fun golf course to play.

I played the saturday of the Wyndham. Showed up before 7am and no one was there. The range was closed do to a broken ball retriever. The course was in very bad shape. The fairways on most holes had no grass at all. I enjoyed the layout of the course very challeging. Course needs some TLC and to shut down for 3 to 4 weeks to seed fairways or get saud put down. Course should have discounted rates for the condition on the course

3:00pm August 20th 2016. Really sad Forest Oaks is in such poor condition. Has been a while since I have been able o play there due to health issues so I was excited to go today while the Wyndham was being played at Sedgefield. Sort of as a tribute to the GGO that was once played at Forest Oaks. I understand why the green and cart fee was so low, the conditions were terrible. The fairways were scorched for lack of irrigation and have evidence of blight, the greens were without any repair at all, tee boxes had weeds, there were huge clumps of dead grass everywhere as if someone mowed a week ago after letting it grow too high and they left mounds and mounds of clippings, and much more. Also the pro shop and entire building closed before play ended around 6:345 so we left the golf cart at the return area with no one to attend to the cart. Even at the low rate the course was essentially unplayable. How sad.

Golf course is really improving. After years of neglect.
