Bald eagles, bald old men on bikes and some fantastic scenery. Perfect for longboards.
My wife, son, and I took a two mile stroll along this trail on a cool winter day. Even in the winter, there is an abundance of birds: geese, ducks, hawks and small birds. The trail is wide and paved. The river runs adjacent to a gravel pit as you leave the Parks boundry, so expect that, but we enjoyed the river and beautiful views of the Colorado Rockies.
Very private. Close to the rodeo building. Plenty of parking.
I go to the pond to fish and Ive caught several bass that were keep able. The fish are good and safe to eat, I havent gotten sick yet.The trail itself is great for a nice long walk, some nice scenery, but if youre looking for a more challenging hike you might want to try a trail closer to the mountains. Ive seen lots of dogs on and off leashes too, do if you have an aggressive dog it might be best to leave it at home.
I like the cosmopolitan feel of this trail- people from all walks of life use it. Boy scouts, old people, old people on bikes, vagrants, old vagrants, old people who say hot enough for ya?, old people who say cold enough for ya?, people wearing jeans and coats in July for some reason, just all sorts. There are even old people on the trail. Decent views of construction equipment in its natural habitat, helpful trail markers every quarter mile so you know how far you are from your car when vagrants stumble toward you. Trash cans conveniently placed about a mile apart from one another to discourage people from disposing of dog poop. Hidden gem for sure.
My Favorite Place
I love walking or riding my bike on the trail. Its beautiful and very relaxing. The only complaint that I have is at times getting people to move over and share the trail. I have a bell on my bike and ring it several times and people still wont move over. I usually have to get close enough for them to hear me say excuse me please and then they may move over a foot or so, barely enough room to ride safely around them. I almost fell of of my bike one day because two walkers would not move over and barely gave me enough room to get by. I have found I almost need to dismount and walk around them to get by. The trail was meant to be shared by all. I try to be very polite and give everyone the row, just wish everyone followed trail etiquette.
A place to get away for lil while nice & quiet a place to think & enjoy the out side away from home !
What an amazing trail. This is an easy 21 mile paved and mostly flat trail that goes to/from Greeley to/from Windsor with plenty of stops in between. A portion of this trail is within the city but the majority is out in the country and you are surrounded by beautiful views of mountains, open fields, lakes, trees and farmland and all that you can hear is the wind rustling through the trees and maybe a small critter jumping into the water. I would say the best time to go is in the spring or fall when the air is cool and crisp, or in the early morning hours of the summer.
Great place to look at nature and get away
Great walking and biking trails
Great for exercise walking out bicycle riding...
Love all of Colorados open or nature spaces
Nice easy trail. Great if you are a bird watcher. First 2 miles outside of Island park are depressing, the landscape has been destroyed by unsightly industry (earth mounded by construction equipment, abandoned trucks in yards, concrete dumped into the river), but after that once you reach the ponds it gets a lot better. Impossible to round trip it on foot in one day.
Nice place to go for a walk or run hardly any people big enough side walk for multuple people. Beautiful river scenery.
Good place to get some exercise and be in nature. The trail is long runs though Greeley Windsor and Ft.Collins.
This is fantastic! Nice job Greeley!
Always wonderful. Changed much over the years. Gods country
Used to be the best place in Greeley, in the early 2000s it was nothing more than a dirt lot leading to a path surrounded by shrubbery and a nice natural setting. In the last couple of years its really lost its magic and attraction due to all the oil and gas taking over the area. There are rigs all throughout the trail that give off horrid smells and way too much noise to enjoy a day out. As well, its become less and less dog friendly, used to be able to let fido run and chase balls all day in the openness but now however, dogs are ONLY allowed on pavement on a leash. In fact, last time I was there with my dog( who is very well trained) off leash playing fetch I was actually yelled, yes YELLED at by a City of Greeley employee informing me that I had to leash the dog or he would have to make me leave. This was a huge let down and eye opener. The Poudre Trail in Greeley is not what it used to be. Its a shame that our natural recreation area is not dog friendly nor very inviting/attractive anymore. This is an example of an oil and gas county overtaking a small recreational conservation project. My apologizes to all other Greeley residents who feel the same.
Beautiful day to walk the path
Easy 42 mile up and back.
Fun time with my
Love biking on this trail!
Wonderful land to see and clean
This is a great trail for a bike, running, useing a running stroller or walking. It is a continuous paved trail from Island grove park in Greeley to Windsor/Timneth area and starts again in Fort Collians. There are occional porta pottys at trail heads. Being your own drinking water because there is no running water at any of the Trail heads.
OUTSTANDING trail! Try it, you will return over and over!
Money well-spent. Im looking forward to its expansions!
