My friend got married at the rooftop of the theatre. Beautiful back drop view of the mountains. It was extremely hot with no shade up stairs. Provided water but quickly ran out and wasnt refilled. Staff was helpful and directing us where to go.

The venue is very nice. The seats are comfortable, and the acoustics are excellent. If you are so inclined, there are wine, beer, soft drinks, and light snacks available. Since Ticketmaster has been handling bringing in different performers, the offerings have been quite good with much variety.

I dont hate this place why did you ask me that? This is a beautiful old theater in downtown Grand Junction that has been renovated. Seats around a thousand people and theyve been getting some big-name entertainment here lately. I highly recommend it as one of the go-to venues on the Western Slope. I just went through and bought a ticket to go see Foghat and looking forward to it.

Great non hole in the wallvenue... although at the same time its a phenomenal hole in the wall venue for shows in the western slope.. waaay easy access drink prices are reasonable and its a show performance that the audience feels involved in... recommended!! great shows!

This was the first time I have attended an event at the theater and I loved it. Its a small venue and that adds to the charm. Had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed Face Vocal Band.

A beautiful theater, especially after the remodel. They have perfectly blended modern architecture with the old theater building that has been there for almost 100 years. The only reason its not 5 stars is the way they gouge the customer not only on concessions, but on ticket prices. Usually much more expensive than it is worth.

We bought 4 tickets in July, front row center , for the David Archuleta show the last week of November . We were so disappointed to see that there were two rows of folding chairs in front of us when we arrived. We had a very difficult time trying to see over the two rows of people in the fold up chairs. The seating was not stadium or staggered. I called the next day to discuss the problem with this seating, and was told nothing could be done and was told to could contact the David Archuleta event planners. I think that when you buy front row center, that is what you should get! Anyone else have this problem?

It was dark. Cold. Quiet. Almost a very empty, hollow feeling. It was closed and we were just passing by.

The place had a great stage that can be seen pretty well from all seats and comfortable for theater seats. Also a large entrance area for finding your group. A down side is they could use more guard lines on the upper seating area. In the middle of a show and someone droped their popcorn and water bottle. The popcorn fell on the person sitting next to me and the almost water bottle did hit me and leave a good bruise.

I had a great time at this sold out concert at the Avalon, I found all the staff very professional, they seemed to work very well with the artist, as the accommodated their security requests. It was a hell of a show from the artist, and from the great staff at the Avalon, great job making GJ a go to destination!

1st time at the theater. Saw the movie Spaceballs.!!!!!WARNING!!!! If you are a smoker, be aware of the theaters no re-entry policy. Once you are in you will not be allowed to go outside to smoke. The facility has recently been redone and there is absolutely nothing to suggest the theater is almost 100 years old. Looks and feels like a remodeled high school auditorium.Has a bar, which is pretty cool. Appetizers were a small table on the side. The food was alright; nothing to write home about (but good enough for a Google review?)Bottom line...if you want the modern movie experience, or a theater with old school charm, skip the Avalon. If you want a small venue experience this is an acceptable choice...as long as you dont want a cigarette.

Fantastic venue for movies and concerts, too. Tuesdays if you spend $5 anywhere downtown, you get free admission to the 7:30pm movie. Check this spot out- youll love it!

Just saw Collin Raye and he was FANTASTIC!!!!! 10 out of 10. Sound was really good. The seats at the Avalon are the only negative. Way too small and no leg room. You should check out Jenn Bostic, too, who opened for Collin and was very good.

Affordable place to watch movies and offer alcohol for movies if your the type that needs a drink with a movie, Im not that type. They are also a venue for many other shows and events in the area. I have been to a few but they were all great shows. Some of the people that attend are the only thing that sometimes ruin the show/event. The venue itself is a great place to go if what they have going on is something you want to attend.

Review №78

Nice when all original historical building for small events ONLY. The city needs to stop financing it and build a real modern facility that not only meets todays safety standards, occupancy needs, and for the city its size and future growth. Major issue in GJ and surrounding areas. Mean while the only place for the real events is far far away from town and only used twice a year and a very small horribly designed amphitheater was a complete waste. Call some real developers who know what they are doing!

Liked the upstairs balcony! They had some basic beers and Heineken available for purchase at the concession stand. Appreciated seeing first-run movies in Grand Junction! On Tuesdays, if you bring a dinner receipt from a downtown Grand Junction restaurant, you get free movie admission to an older, classic film (without receipt, $6 on Tuesdays). Thanks, Avalon!

I used to enjoy their dinner and a movie special on Tuesday, I would be able to get myself and my nephew a slice from Pablos Pizza and go catch a movie. Now that they changed the price it would have to be a full dinner somewhere to earn free tickets, to sit in an accountable seating arrangement with overpriced concession stands.
