This place was great. They rented us tubes and life jackets to float down the river in. I wasnt paying and I believe we got a corporate discount though. Helmets were also available but I decided that there were enough restrictions with the mask and life jacket. Not really necessary as the water level was pretty low.There were many options of different types of tubes.

REALLY good deal for your buck! The staff was very friendly and chill. We rented two sups, one was for yoga and it was sturdy and excellent for lake paddling. The other board was a lot lighter and flimsy, but still did the job. Id say just specify what kind of board youre looking for, otherwise they will assign one randomly.

Fun time! Even though they ran out of tubes....we waited a bit and got some that had been returned. Get there early on the weekends!

Awesome local fly shop and kayak shop. Its kind of perfect. They have everything you need to catch Colorado trout or get gnarly in some whitewater. During the spring, summer, and early fall, they have a tube rental for Clear Creek; which is an absolute must! They are welk-stocked with fly tying material. Theyve got anything you will need. They carry waders, boots, hiking shoes, and all the gear you need for kayaking. Staff are awesome. Super laid back -as a fly shop should be.

Traveling from out of town, we rented tubes to ride Clear Creek on a busy, warm Saturday. They were exceedingly helpful and patient as we switched out life vests 7 times, asked which tubes were ours 4 times, took turns using their bathrooms, and generally crowded their space. They gave us great directions on how to use the equipment and where to drop in to the water. Prices were very reasonable. Be aware that you cannot leave your car in their lot while you raft/kayak/etc but there is a parking lot at the Lions Park drop-in sites. Also while they have a lot of equipment in stock, it is first-come first-serve so there is a chance of not getting a tube if you come too late on the wrong day.

Staff is alright, still waiting after 8 months to be paid for a kayak I sold at their swap. Every time I stop in to be paid they have some excuse as to why the owner cant/hasnt paid me.

I went in there looking for a very economical whitewater helmet. They were so helpful and flexible that they basically came up with a custom solution to meet my needs. Thats a class act retailer right there.

Friendly service. Small shop and quite packed when we went. Reasonable prices and helpful staff. A 15m walk from the shop to where to start tubing. Be sure to check flow rate of waterways, 450-500 cfm when we went, which was pretty intense. Especially if you flip over.

Love this store. As a local, Im in and out of here many times a year on my way to paddle clear creek and the surrounding rivers. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Im kind of surprised that some of the other reviews on here indicate otherwise. Dont listen to them! Its great to have a store thats so well stocked in a convenient location with knowledgable, friendly, and helpful staff.

Great place to get fly fishing gear, flies, and tying materials! Bart and his staff are very knowledgeable and attentive. Advice on fishing locations, water flows, and hatches led directly to landing this huge trout.

Next time buy your tubes somewhere else. It was a rip off. We paid $21 for a tube for the day that broke right as well got into the river. We had to pay $50 to replace their “brand new” tube. I will not be buying from you guys ever again and will be telling all my friends as well. The person checking is out told us he does it a couple of times a week and has never popped one. I wonder why? Maybe because he actually knows where to go and could have guided us to the right place and maybe given us some tips. $50 for a tube is ridiculous.

Pretty expensive. It was convenient to rent our tubes here, but very pricy. A single tube was $23 for the day. Because of the length of the river each person would need their own.A life jacket was included in the rental and the service was nice.

We had a full day guided trip on Clear Creek with a guide from the shop. Curt was a great guy, very knowledgable, on time and was very easy to hang out with. We met at the shop in Golden and then spent the day up at great spot on Clear Creek. We didnt really use the shop but the guide represented them well and good people make good shops so I am sure its top class too.

I was not overly impressed with this establishments customer service. I rented a pair of waders and boots from people who were less than friendly and seemed totally apathetic about my business in general. When I returned the gear, I explained that the waders clearly had a hole since I was soaking wet all day and they didnt seem to care about that either. They didnt so much as say Im sorry that happened, let alone offer to refund my money or give me a credit on a future rental or purchase. Its unfortunate because I like to support local business but I will not be returning.

I WAS REFUSED SERVICE BECAUSE OF HOW I LOOKEDMy Experience: I am an avid and experienced kayaker. My kayak is back home (oregon) so I decided to rent from here. I called ahead that morning to make sure they had some available (yes was the answer). I also checked local river/lake logs (checking water depth and attendance) so Id have options. Long story short Ive done this before.Upon arriving, I left my drybag, suit and pdf in the car. I walked in wearing nice clothes (nike) carrying my purse (MK) with my wallet (LV) out ready to pay. My hair looked nice.I inquired as to where I might rent a kayak. The guy I greeted gives me an up and down and asked who its for. Me. He scoffs a little and realized I was serious and abruptly tells me hes mot rentin out kayaks today because the waters too low. I told him I checked the logs today for multiple locations and none seemed too low. Well the river is too low for a kayak I asked if I couldnt rent a kayak and take it to a different place than the river. This went back and forth a bit, him the whole time looking at my purse then my wallet then up and downing me and shaking his head. Finally after he refused me for about the 5th time I asked him if there was another reason i couldnt rent a kayak and he says YOU DONT LOOK LIKE SOMEONE WHO CAN KAYAK ALONEIn conclusion Im left wondering if it was my sex, my clothes, my hair, my purse/wallet or just the color of my skin that made him think Im incapable of manning something Ive been around for 13 years.Regardless of reason I believe itd be worth everyones time and money to rent elsewhere.

Was planning a fun day of paddle boarding down at Chatfield with my 30lb dog on a Saturday. Attempted to contact Golden River Sports via their website email the Monday before about renting a vest for the pooch; never got a reply. Called them on Thursday, was told yes, we rent dog life vests. No, you dont need a reservation, we have several sizes and several in each size, youll be fine on Saturday. Went in on Saturday, was told we only have one vest in one size. Was offered a 45-70lb dog vest for the 30lb dog. Terrible customer service!! Will not ever come back.

Purchased an IR spray deck from GRS off the rack in perfect condition. I managed to put a hole in it after one day on the water and stopped by to see what could be done about warranty or repair services. Dennis was able to tell me right away wether the damage to my skirt was covered under warranty and even offered to contact Immersion Research for me.I have been buying equipment here for as long as Ive lived in Golden and GRS has always earned its reputation for good customer service and knowledgeable staff, but this went above and beyond my expectations.I cannot recommend this shop highly enough.

So we took advantage of the 50% off fly fishing offer and met in Golden Saturday morning. Since we were early, we took the time to enjoy a great home cooked breakfast at the Golden Restaurant on 12th street, which proved to be a precursor to an enjoyable day of fishing Clear Creek under the watchful eye and tutoring of our guide Jay. Jay set an easy going pace, which was a good thing since we were basically a group of beginners as concerns fly fishing. I was the most experienced of our group, which is not saying much, maybe only saying that I had most of the basic equipment while the others needed to use the fly shop gear. Even though, I learned a few things from Jay, which I know will come in handy as I gain more experience.All of us hooked up with a few browns, most about 8 inches average. Maybe not something to brag about but certainly a good experience for newbies, especially being outdoors in a very scenic area.I would recommend this deal to anyone new to fly fishing or new to Colorado and wanting to know where some of the good places to go can be found. In both cases, it is a good introduction that can last a lifetime. Thanks Jay and thank you Nick, it was certainly worth it!

VERY rude to customers. Tube renta includes life jacket and nothing else. No shuttle or even key drop. Overpriced and they do not treat their customers well. Just buy a tube yourself from Target.
