New to Gainesville, so this is my first visit to the Cade Museum. Parking is easy to access and is free, which is awesome. Please never change that. The exterior of the museum is impressive. Very modern and definitely fits the science theme. Entrance is clearly labeled, and easy to locate from the parking lot, thanks to the helpful signs guiding you. Interior of the museum starts off unassuming, but as you pass the front desk, and the colorful gift shop, it opens up to the breathtaking rotunda, with a wide, cylindrical, shape that allows natural light and a beautiful panoramic view of Depot Park via large windows. It also has a tall ceiling with a beautiful circular skylight. There is a large curved stairway that narrows as you approach the second floor, which leads to more activities, exhibits and stunning views of Depot Park. The first exhibit I went through was The Sweat Solution, which gives an interactive look into the life of Dr. Cade and the invention of Gatorade. My guide Erin Jane, was extremely entertaining and informative, with a deep knowledge on all aspects of the exhibit. She definitely knew her stuff, and made the tour an absolute pleasure.I then wandered upstairs to explore, and found the new Moon to Mars exhibit. The introduction presentation was done by Jesse, who was also entertaining and knowledgeable, and even put up with my Martian fart joke due to the discussion regarding methane on Mars. Wild theories are always fun. There was also a new ice skating rink in the middle of the rotunda. I didnt try it because I didnt feel like embarrassing myself, but the kids and adults who were skating around looked to be having a ton of fun. So something to consider, if you have kids and adults that act like kids, if you want something fun to do during Friday or Saturday afternoon. All in all, my first visit to the Cade Museum was wonderful, despite the weather. I highly recommend this place if you want to learn the history of Gatorade, love science, and also want fun activities for the family, in a beautiful, relaxing, atmosphere, with friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely visit again, in the future!

I had a nice few hours here. The scavenger hunt kept the adult me busy, and a few areas were great for the kiddo I was with- especially the interactive materials in the “Idea Atelier.” That space is so beautiful I could spend my whole visit in there! The exhibits seemed limited in their focus, and admission seemed a little pricey. But if you’re bringing a kid, plan to take advantage of Depot Park being right there. And there’s a lovely family-friendly brewery nearby! I’ll definitely go again when the exhibits change and see how the museum is growing.

Great experience if you want to know more about science in your community. The theme changes every six weeks, so check back every so often. They have inventors come every Saturday and often hold special events to hear about old and emerging technology. Also a really great spot if you have children.Side note: if you buy a membership to the Cade you also get free* admission to over a hundred science museums across the nation and in a few foreign countries. They have a list at the front desk if youre interested.* - some museums are reduced price, but almost all of them are free.

My 19 month old son had a lot of fun. Admission is a bit pricey for the size of the museum, but he enjoyed playing with the blocks upstairs, and the Little Sparks playtime event seemed like fun (we got there close to the end). The building and grounds are beautiful, and its just a short walk to the amazing Depot Park. We will go again.

We had some time, so we visted the Cade Museum. A lot was focused on Gatoraid as Dr. Cade was the inventor. It also had practical applications and a lor of hands on for kids. This museum is new and has a lot of room to grow and change. Also had a Petty Family room which I thought was cool honoring the Petty family.

My (now) husband and I rented the upstairs area for our wedding reception back in January.I had visited the Cade in the past to playtest my companys educational video game for one of their after-school STEM workshop programs, and was excited to learn that the Cade was available to rent for a surprisingly affordable price at a wedding expo. The event staff were a pleasure to work with (Thank you Amanda and Gwen!), and my guests and I had an absolute blast. The Cade made for a quirky, yet beautiful setting and we couldnt be happier with our decision to celebrate our wedding day here.

We visited during the week in the early spring while on vacation and ended up having thr whole place to ourselves. Our kids ages range from two to thirteen and fun was had by all. I believe we spent around two hours here. Admission was reasonable. Upstairs there is an area that focuses on hands on STEM projects. Down stairs had interactive exhibits as well as a lab. The kids made slime, painted used a printing press amongst other things. The two year old was getting a bit restless waiting for the 3D printer so we walked over the the park next door.

In my search for something to do with the kids while I’m staying here in Gainesville I found Cade Museum. We arrived around 2 o’clock and the museum closes at 5. We stayed there the three hours, the kids had a great time. The building is very nice, many engaging activities. I loved the scavenger hunt on the museum brochure and was excited to get it all done. The best part is the second floor with the big room (I forgot the name) with the great view. The kids spend their at least one hour, coloring and exploring. The lady that was there her name is Roxana she was very friendly and sweet, my kids are very talkative and she listened to them patiently and engaged with them and we didn’t even feel the time passing. My son left his stuffed animal in one of the rooms and Roxana immediately talked to the other employees and tried to locate it and went to get it for my son, she went above and beyond to engage the kids in the activities and also come to the rescue by finding the missing toy.I highly recommend this museum to anyone looking for interactive and STEM activities to do with the kids. You’ll find something for the kids and adults as well (flight simulators). We will be back next week!!

What a wonderful time I had here! The first thing you notice about the building is how beautiful, modern, and enormous it is. The section about Dr Cade is very entertaining and insightful, even for an adult. At the time of visit, upstairs had a section regarding Cuban ingenuity which was a fascinating topic about innovation in a country with hard times. The themes scattered around the museum such as serendipity and curiosity is adorable and also gave me some inspiration as well. The fabrication lab is a great way to bring a souvenir with you before you leave. The staff (which is extremely friendly and helpful) told me that they rotate the fabrication tools from 3D printing to laser printing and other means which is a exciting way to experience science for all ages. I had a great time here and I understand that this museum is relatively new and is working hard to add more exhibits as well.

Weve had a membership since they opened and probably always will because I am excited about the museum and grateful for all the effort to create something like this in Gainesville, but we have a toddler and dont actually use our membership much. I would love if going forward the Cade find ways to bring childrens museum style exhibits that fit within its mission, because they certainly seem to have the extra space and volunteers. The Cades focus on invention and creativity is important and unique, but as currently executed leaves out the under 5 crowd who (along with their parents) are often the demographic searching for activities 7 days week judging by a lot of other reviews.

I was able to make my own Morris code device from supplies provided and enjoyed the sensory lab dor smell and the miracle berries exhibit. Nice touch to Gainesville thanks!

Great little museum!! I would say it is targeted more at kids, but there are very interesting things to see and do there. We went yesterday with out 2 girls, (7 & 3) and they had a blast! I would say I think my youngest was the absolute lower end of the age spectrum for here, but she got most things and there was plenty to keep her interested. The staff (and numerous volunteers) were absolutely wonderful with the kids; friendly, patient and more than happy to explain things in as much detail as was asked/needed.The exhibits (with the exception of the one detailing their namesake, the inventor of Gatorade, Dr Cade) change on a regular basis, and seem to based off more free thinking and a very open, self paced learning environment. I would not hesitate in going back, and the kids are already asking when we can return. One further upside to this museum is that connects with the relatively new Depot Park, which in itself is a great park with its own activities and mini adventures going on. Between the two, you can definitely make a whole day of it out there.TL;DR - great for kids, makes for part of a fantastic day out!

I went to the Cade museum last Saturday and was surprised to see they were lacking exhibits. There is a rather large exhibit on the 1st floor that is all about Gatorade (naturally) but upstairs there was an entire wing devoted to machine Cubans made from junk. Now that was interesting but everything was spread out with a lot of wasted space. I would recommend the proctored interactive exhibits on the main hall and the puzzle area for all ages. The building and grounds are beautiful with exquisite gardens connected to Depot park. The Cade museam is growing and I look forward to many new exhibits.

Not engaging for adults whatsoever. This is a childrens activity museum, and a barebones one at that. $12.50 a ticket for adults is absurdly steep for the experience. Boards with pictures and text are not exhibits, theyre informational wall decorations at best. The space could easily accommodate more and better exhibits, but seems to value a large, aesthetically pleasing, center area above being a museum. If you are looking for a science museum in Gainesville, the Florida Museum of Natural History is much larger, much more engaging for all ages, and much more reasonably priced.

Today we checked out the new Cade Museum in Gainesville. This place has the coolest concept. It was donated by Dr. Cade, the inventor of Gatorade. The only permanent exhibit is about his life and invention. This exhibit was very interactive and taught my son a lot of science. However, the rest of the museum is completely interactive and changes often. The downstairs had two different demo stations in the lobby, as well as two labs for 5 and up and 8 and up. The experiments/activities change out every week or so and focus on a theme. This week’s theme was visual processing. My son made a prism viewer, 3d Glasses, a black and white top that shows color when spun, and a pepper’s ghost viewer. Upstairs is a room with puzzles, Books, and origami as well as a traveling exhibit. The exhibit there until Dec is Robot Zoo. They had large animal robots that the kids could control. Every Saturday, they have “meet the inventor” where you can talk with real inventors.Next door is the awesome Depot Park that has a splash pad, multiple station playground and a shop/cafe.I definitely recommend this for a day trip!

The Cade Museum is a gem for North Central Florida and a tribute to the legacy of Dr. Cade and the spirit of creativity and innovation in North Central Florida. The museum changes constantly so check their website for up to date information. Parking has been difficult due to construction on South Main, but a recently opened parking lot has made things much easier (get ready to back into your parking spots)! FYI - this was the creative brainchild of engineers in Talahassee rather than the museums, but it will get you thinking outside of the box before you even pass through the entryway. It offers fantastic programs, including camps, for kids as well as ongoing seminars and live inventor events to keep adults occupied. No visit to the area would be complete without a visit to the museum!
