Nice hike, good place for a picnic. (There is really nothing there though)

The barn has been kept well by the staff of the park. It was nice to go and see the historic little spot. Although there is not much to truly see it was interesting to walk the snead farm trail and come across the barn as we exited after going counter clockwise on the path.In early May there were a large amount of ticks to be found in the grasses near the barn and on the trail up to it. Be wary and wear long pants.

I love Shenandoah National Park! I spend a lot of time up there. My last trip to Snead farm was highlighted by a black bear investigating what I was having for lunch. He politely left when I spoke to him.

Hiking trail thst starts across from the Dickey Ridge Visitors Center on Skyline Drive. Part of this walk includes walking along a fire road and the rest of the loop is a trail. The old barn appears to be maintained. There is an old in-ground cellar behind the barn. The foundation of the homeplace can still be seen, but not much else.
