Nice trail with a stream that flows along the left side as you ascend. Its a short trail thats not complicated, but has a decent feel to it. If you can park along the main road, you can slip onto the trail with ease.

No matter where you pick up the dickey Ridge, its a neat little trail. The trailhead at the entrance to SNP is an easy in/out almost 3 mile hike if you turn around at the trail marker where it turns significantly more uphill. It follows a creek for most of the way.

Nice 2.5 mile walk to the Overlook. Suitable for young kids (although there is about a .5 mile stretch that is all up hill).

What a great trail to hike! Wish there was some better signage about how far destinations are but it was a beautiful trail and well taken care of. We found out from the trail head to the over look is 8 miles round trip!

Great hike with a great payoff view. Parking at the trailhead right before the entrance to the park so you dont need to pay to enter. Not too challenging just under 4 miles from overview to trailhead marker. Dont recommend strollers or small children.

We found the park on the shoulder area right before the pay to play part of the park, where we were able to do about 45 mins of hiking before we hit Skyline and couldnt tell where the trail went anymore and just turned around.Very lovely, had a descent hill toward the later half, but very nice, easy level all and all.

Well-maintained trailhead in the middle of the dickey ridge trail. Thats right the middle.the trail very obviously opens to the South into Shenandoah Park, but theres also a branch that heads North from the trailhead roadside parking area if you cross the street.the prohibitions list is long. No bikes, no motor vehicles, no firearms, dogs on leashes. This leaves a peaceful scenic, walk for pedestrians on a well-maintained trail that runs beneath skyline drive as it approaches the north entrance gate.We went about 45 minutes on the trail. We got close to the overlook, but turned back before we got there. We even saw a black bear!No trash anywhere on the trail!

This is my favorite daily walking trail. It is nice and shady and mostly flat for the first mile in. It also has a little creek running alongside the trail

This is where I start my hike when I hiked but now Ive found it may be too steep for me going down. For a while Id take a bike down but I dont do that any more. Too dangerous for old people. LIke me. But I used to hike here and saw a heck of a lot of bears. One time saw 3 juvenile bears and they were all very afraid of me and just either ran away or scrambled up a very tall tree extremely quickly or scrambled down a tree very quickly and ran away. One time I saw one right at the beginning of the trail eating out of a log. I didnt want to scare it so I walked up about 3 feet from it and said. Hello bear. It was a small bear and it ran away. It was very scared. Fortunately its mom was not around or on the other side of me away from the bear as maybe I could have died. I also once say a pretty bobcat go across the trail near the visitor center at the top portion of the trail.

This was the beginning of the 105 mile drive along the Blue Ridge Mountains on the scenic Skyline Drive with the Shenandoah National Park. Dickey Ridge Trailhead offers some guidance as well as exhibits to aid in taking advantage of all you can see and experience while visiting. The day was spectacular weather and the vistas clear and bright. Park guides are available for questions. There is a registry for wildlife sightings and as I looked thru, I observed many registers for small black bear, as well as deer, woodchuck, raccoons, and birds. Plenty of pullover spots to check out the view as well as trails to hike. I continued on drive with frequent pullovers for photos, however much can be enjoyed driving without leaving the vehicle if you desire.

Great hiking experience. Total trail distance is about 10 miles up to the visitors center, and you can hike as little or as much of it as you like. Easy to moderately strenuous at some points

Gorgeous hike with some lovely views. Did a 22-mile point-to-point run starting at the Trumbo Hollow Hike Trailhead and ending at Dickey Ridge. Theres quite a bit of elevation gain, but totally worth it.
