I had a nice time running here today. There are plenty of connecting trails and paths, with a few entry points, so you’ve certainly got your choice.I got a late start in the day and originally intended to do a trail at Gambrill but the lots were full so I drove a little farther and found myself with plenty of options.I’d give four stars for one reason alone - the trails are not marked well at all, where they separate and converge. The paths are well worn and indicate the direction easily but I think it would be really easy to get turned around or accidentally circle yourself. I ran the red loop twice, and then hiked the blue around a little, until I was ready to leave. I use GPS watch and offline maps for my runs so this didn’t give me any trouble, but I do suggest coming prepared for that. The trail areas that I was on were fairly rocky but I wouldn’t stretch to call it technical. The red didn’t have too much difficulty in the way of gains and drops either, but the blue has a nice climb just before a nice clearing opens up, if you’re going clockwise. For enjoyability in general, I’d give it a 4/5 - easy spot to run, IMO.It was not very crowded either. There were plenty of people around but I hardly ran in to anyone, and most of the time I had that sweet, sweet isolation - so it’s great for that!Do recommend.
Refreshing as always. Sure wish people would learn to respect the space and not litter.
Great place for road and mountain bicycling. Also for hiking in shade. It’s not as polished as Gambrill which is nice in a sense.
Lots of good hiking trails, but a map is recommended to avoid getting lost.
Fun stuff, I wouldnt recommend beginners.
The most beautiful forest Ive ever seen. Clean, beautiful park. Really enjoyed myself at the overlook!!!
I love this forest! I lived in Gaithersburg, but four years ago I lived to Frederick. Many people we know go and pick up drinking water near there. About a month ago my mom and I saw that many people were hiking and one day we decided to go and check it out. It was amazinggg!!! Since that day we go almost every weekend.
Great mtb trails. Park seemed clean and well maintained
It is a lot of water places to get a fresh bath and it is very good for exercise a lot of walking and climbing the mountain
Gorgeous scenery and great paths.
BEWARE: Make sure you have maps this place is difficult to navigate. It is an awesome place for solitude, and the hikes are much better enjoyed as a journey rather than any destination in the park (there are little to no traditional hiking end points). So if youre coming to see nature, this is the place for you, wonderful flora and fauna everywhere.
Great MTB Trails!
Best mountain biking in maryland
Beautiful park, 4wd access roads are closed, gates everywhere.
Beautiful and clean trails
I went hiking there with a group and we had a wonderful time. There are many beautiful stream crossings and views. Lots of challenging sections (hills) and the park is well maintained ...
I spend a lot of time in the Frederick Watershed mountain biking. Lots of good trails for good bikes.
Awesome..
Great bike trails
Beautiful public forest with trails of varying difficulty. Most parking is small pulloffs on the side of the road. Trails are not all well-marked and there arent paper maps available, so downloading a trail map app would be a good idea if you want to take full advantage of the trails.
Frederick Municipal Forest ( Frederick Watershed) has some of the best mountain biking in MD! The area has a multitude of trail that can keep a biker ocupide all day. The trails are mostly technical but a few are supper flowy and fast. The park has multiple freeride trails ranging from intermediate to basically a pro-line. I have biked from Germantown to deep Creek and this place is something else. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Love is Place beautiful awesome cant beat it
2019 Bike Doctor Sheduro mtb race. Steep, techy, gnarly with massive rock gardens. Oh, and tons of climbing. The shed is rough af but will definitely level up your mtb skills with practice.
Very peaceful place to go out and enjoy nature.

This place is huge, and there are miles of trail options for hikers and mountain bikers. Unfortunately, there isnt a map of the forest available.
